This use case would be for a custom alert where you need to pull some specific detail from the database, and where one of the out of the box alerts won't already work. In the same way as you'd use a custom query widget in the web console.

If you're wanting to send from on prem kit without configuring connectors individually could you via an Exchange server instead? If not, have a look at SMTP2GO, or similar service.
