  • Christian, I was able to set up the proxy on an ESX/vSphere 4 server and get snmp to work correctly, I was not able to get NPM to recognize it as a vmware device however. I am unsure if the MIB's have changed or if NPM does not have the correct MIB's. I was able to perform snmpwalks on ESX4 devices, but due to projects…
  • SNMP was not removed from vShpere, it was just removed by default. "In past releases, VMware ESX used Net‐SNMP as its SNMP agent. Although VMware no longer supportsNet‐SNMP, you can still use Net‐SNMP with ESX 4.0 if your management agent requires it. ESX 4.0 allowsNet‐SNMP to proxy through the VMware SNMP agent, which…
  • We found that 2008 R2 had some TCP Chimney settings enabled, which causes some SQL performance problems (this also applies to Vista SP1, 2008 SP1, Windows 7 and 2008 R2.) We made the following changes, and it seems to have resolved our issue. netsh int tcp set global rss=disablednetsh interface tcp set global…
  • We are primarily using SNMPv2c and only using v3 on select devices. The APM templates we are using are not using SNMP to poll but are instead using performance counters and windows credentials. I don't have results recorded in terms of testing, and will post back when I have recorded results.
  • On a fresh install of APM 4.0.2 SP1 and NPM 10.1.2 we are having the same issues, but it's restricted to a select group of nodes. We did open a support case (which is still open) and the initial response was the problem was related to the JobEngine35 file. We went through the steps of blanking it out, running the 2 MSI…
  • We are using an Evaluation version of both NPM and APM and are having the same issue. We are running on a VMware ESX 4.0 server with the guest running 2008 Server x32 rather than a physical server. We are looking at making a purchase of NPM SL250 and APM AL250, but I can't say that I would be able to submit this to…
  • I am not sure if anyone has read this, but VMware changed the way they use SNMP in ESX 4. You can still use net-snmp in esx4, but have to set up a proxy in order to obtain all of the data that you want to get. I am working on getting this set up in a test environment where I am, but have alot of time contraints. You can…
  • I am also having issues when using "external" nodes to monitor web content. We want to create a node and label it by each client name, and then assign a template to it that is specific to that client. We are able to assign the template to the "external" node, but it dosent actualy show up when viewing the node, or under…
  • Unsure as to the "official" level of support, but in my netflow and NTA environment I recieve all flows that are sent via FNF. From this link http://thwack.com/support/netflow.aspx it appears that it should support it, as there is a video discussion regarding FNF.
  • I recently had a problem similar to this, but it was an ACL problem on the LAN interface rather than VPN acl. Check your LAN interface ACL and remove/add appropriate entries if applicable.
  • We would be interested in this functionality as well. We just recently implemented several Big-IP devices in our datacenter(s) and using UnDP functionality just doesn't cut it for us.
  • Between two Cisco IOS routers, with a site-site IPSEC vpn tunnel, you need to use flexible netflow to get the data to pass properly. It is my understanding that earlier ASA IOS's do not support flexible netflow. I belive Cisco introduced it in one of the newer IOS versions for the ASA, but it is not a full featured…
  • This has been discussed in the post at basicly it looks like it will be fixed in a future release, date TBD.
