Solid training class. I enjoyed it.

My wife's family lives in Lexington, KY. so every Thanksgiving we go back. I've toured many of the distilleries and right now my favorite is Buffalo Trace. Disclaimer: I don't drink, never have. Medical issues. So I take tiny sips and Buffalo Trace had the smoothest flavor. Also, they make my favorite root beer. Dr.…

Honorable mention to perhaps the greatest air band of all time Kool Kats And honorable mention to the lead singer's audition, made forever famous across Fortnite.

It's brand new week. Let's bump it!

I mentioned this very same thing during the RC Candidate for the latest release.

Funny story... I do!!! During the last learned that I don't lose Thwack points from the leaderboard if I spend them in the Thwack store. So off i went with my 310k points... :-)

My company is migrating to Suite On HANA for SAP. I actually wrote a blog about my presentation that I gave to ASUG (American SAP User Group) earlier this year about my company's transformation journey. HANA is SAP's in-memory database solution and shot at Oracle (SP and Oracle do not like each other). This transformation…

I welcome driverless cars. Commuter driving is about an inefficient process as they come, especially here on the east coast. Rules and laws are flat out ignored. I would much rather spend my time doing something else than driving while sitting in a car. As for Fact Checks I would also add, "Don't trust anyone older than…

Okay this is a silly one... I love, love, love, the "Tag" option on Facebook. What do you guys think about a "Tag" option in posts for technologies, model #'s, OS'es, Solarwinds products, etc? And then be able to run multiple-layered queries against those tags? The problem that I envision this resolving is when I try to…

You say, "Don't let DevOps performance get in the way of threat management" I would posit that one shouldn't let DevOps get ahead of your threat management policies. DevOps is preached as the fast and furious and roadblocks be durned. Security needs to be reinforced every step of the way.

My first foray into programming was COBOL in 1989 in college. Halfway through the class I did not just COBOL I dropped out of college I was so disenfranchised. Years later, many years later, I went back to college and took a Javascript class. Over a President's Day weekend I crashed studied the language. Halfway through…

As a manager I have it as part of my employees yearly development plans. I give them control of it. I just offer the incentive. I also offer them "days remote" where they can self-study or watch webinars (I grant myself at least 2 every year for Thwack Camp).

When do we receive points for the LEM screenshot?

Why did I receive an email today about an 11 month old blog post?

Interesting topic. As someone who isn't dealing with backups/restore/media everyday I have lost sight of the technological advances in backup solutions. This is a good refresher and it will help me set expectations with restore times. I see some testing in my future.

I second hitnrunxx motion... get away from Java.

I am not trying to kill sales for Solarwinds and I am not trying to float my own boat but I have been able to do this with VirtMan. However, the reason VirtMan is on my list is the deeper VirtMan monitoring, reporting, and planning capabilities which I want to overlay on what I already have.

adatole your 3 points are illuminated each and everyday on the Thwack website (especially #1). Each ThwackCamp continues to build upon the success of the previous one because it continues to stay true to its cause. The energy is always high and the chatroom during the sessions is electric. Don't change a thing folks! I…

When should we expect our 250 pts?

Okay... so it's been three days with no Word-A-Day or Monthly Mission. I am suffering massive withdrawal over here. I am no good with Cold Turkey. lol I'm bored. Literally bored Nothing to do! I really don't want to do my job!

I got the best Fathers Day card this year... "You Are The Bacon Of Dad's!" <sniff!>

Kirk losing, and by as a wide of a margin as he did. To me, it's proof that Kirk fell victim to the curse of special effects in the 60's vs. special effects in the late 70's and 80's. Yes, Kirk was 'camp'. But he was still bada$$ in many ways. And he was the trailblazer for so many after him, including Picard. Oh well.

I have an odd situation here. We have Enterprise agreements with vendors like SAP, Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, Verizon, and others. These agreements come with a wealth of no-additional-cost training delivered over all sorts of mediums. Yet they never get used. However, if there is training class offered somewhere else that…

I am a creature of habit. Routine speaks to me. Halloween last year I made a life change to health. Lockdown has been a catalyst for that. As the year burst into spring I was able to exercise everyday and I have seen, and felt, great improvements. I walk 10 miles 5 days a week, run 10k 2-3 times weekly, and bike when I can…

The ever changing SolarWinds sales rep. I finally got one I like and they changed her on me. :-( Now I am getting emails from 4 different sales reps... Yeay!

Blade Runner was made in a different time. It's generational.

With only this group remaining there are many string contenders. AdtAf this round I expect all of the voting to be close.

In the UK?? Ahh, very nice. Be sure to have Irn Bru for me. Glass bottle only. Definitely not plastic, can is acceptable. Regarding the printers I've been hearing stories like this for years. Everyone overlooks printers as a vulnerability. On a sidenote I remember a story where a hacker hacker a printer (or was it an ATM)…

The trepidation of moving to the Cloud is still very much a thing. Traditional operations like the Feds will always fall back into their comfort zone when they are faced with an uncertain inevitabiliy. People skills are an absolute Must for situations similar to these.
