I have no problems saying I don't know something, but I will always follow it up with "but I will find out", that's one of the reasons I got into this field, there is always a puzzle or a challenge to overcome, keeps me on my toes :-)

I think it's because they either don't want to take the time to set it up properly or they don't know how and don't want others to know of their "problem" :-)

Did you set this Linux server up in NPM or SAM? Also, I don't think "greater than 100" will work since 100 is the highest the CPU should go, if it goes above that, well, you have other problems that require your attention as well :-)

Coming from someone who has had to setup monitoring on Windows and *nix applications, alterego is on the right track, process and service/daemon monitoring will be very helpful. I have to agree on the preview of upcoming/replacement technology. It would be really cool to have a link pop up next to the EOL/EOS date (when your device gets closer to that date) that would give you some information on current technology that could replace your aging device. Just my 2 cents :-) I haven't found any…
