Nice idea and I hope a lot of people jump on here with suggestions. I do like the idea of turning some of the T-shirt designs into aprons. I'm not a T-shirt kind of person, but I do like a fun apron for when I'm grilling outside. I dress more formal than my co-workers so I'd appreciate a button down shirt, maybe a fedora…

I have a couple, but this one shows utilization on connections between sites - as you can see most are very low.

We have a couple First - Bandwidth utilization by link connections Next a current conditions page including our internet usage.

From your Solarwinds server: Open Universal Device Poller Click the + next to New Universal Device Poller When the tool comes up you can enter as much of the OID as you know (gleaned from the MIB walk) or browse the MIB tree for the device. It will probably start with 1.3.6.1.4 Once you find the specific OID that you want…

Have you looked at the MIBs to see if these are located in the standard locations? I don't believe that this wireless controller is supported natively "out of the box" on NPM, you may need to configure custom pollers to pull the information that you are looking for. I've built a few custom pollers so I can assist if you…

Anytime I've moved Orion, updated SQL etc. that's all that I've needed to do.
-
I don't monitor my points too carefully, but it does seem like it. I know the other day I responded to a couple of Blog posts and didn't see any points appear.
-
Have you browsed the MIB tree for that device to see how and where that information is advertised? You may need to build a custom poller for the device if it's not natively supported.

Customer portal is really only for updates and licensing for me. I was a customer for probably a year before doing anything with Thwack - Not knowing the depth of Thwack I had the typical thought "I'm too busy just to "hang out" with other people that have the same product, why would I want to do that?" Once I did join I…

One solution may be to turn on SNMP on those servers - universal device poller can then be configured for what you want to monitor.
-
AGREED!!! I didn't know you could do that, but if I had I certainly would have notified the Thwack staff rather that exploiting it. It's like cheating at dodge ball in the 4th grade - Really, Really, you're going to do that?
-
I really enjoy real auto racing - road racing ala Le Mans style. So I'm going to attend at least 2 this year. Last year I went to Watkins Glen and Lime Rock - I'll probably do both this year, but I'm considering MoSport.
-
Another nice way to bring the community together.
-
Nice, mine is on the way!
-
I've seen this as well. You could increase the polling interval on the specific devices possibly and another option would be to QoS the very specific traffic if it is critical. However as acmtix mentioned SNMP traffic is considered very low priority so trying to "force" it needs to be done extremely carefully.
-
Nice - you must have a very robust infrastructure.
-
Being new to Solarwinds I don't know how much time you have spent on Thwack, but the community here is wonderful - one of the best parts of Solarwinds. Be sure to post solutions that you come up with. It helps others, earns you points and overall adds to the experience. You can actually upload any type of content that you…

I'll rely on others for a more definitive answer, but I believe that all of that is stored in the SQL. Personally I would build the new SQL server, move the database over there and point your existing install to that. Once that is working well, I'd build the new Solarwinds server, install the applications and point it to…

Is this a vulnerability if you run the applications via https or just running http?

Yes, use the Dynamic Query Builder - it may seem a bit intimidating at first, but it really is pretty easy to use once you get used to it. Just select a common element of the devices Like are they all the same brand, model, type of device, etc. Below is an example where I build a list for all Servers. That will give you a…

Is the report giving you what you need? If so you can set a schedule and add the times where you want it to kick off. Unless you have the email monitored 24x7 you can select specific time where you would actually be monitoring. Once you get to schedule and select the frequency, you'll see the below. Just select the…

I just manually uninstalled the agent from the server, then added it back into NPM for monitoring via Agent. After the agent was re-installed I created it as a new polling agent, built the NetPath and boom it's working. Looks like previously installed agents were the problems.
-
I built this yesterday and haven't seen any traffic on that port from the server yet. I checked and the agent is installed and running on the server, I even tried restarting the agent.
-
I don't use these devices, but I'm guessing if you did a MIB walk you could find the OID that represents the VPN state and build a UnDP (universal device poller) to capture that information. Just let me know if you need help with any of this.
-
That's a firm "it depends" SNMP will poll the device on whatever it can provide. Some devices poll more frequently than others. So the best answer will be to do a mib walk on the device in question and see what it offers. Just for example, I've seen devices that report CPU performance per second, per minute and then I've…

I've noticed that the leaderboard takes a lot longer to update than the bar at the top of the Thwack page. Have you compared after it has set overnight? Also, I wonder if it has something to do with total points earned vs. points available for spending - if that were the case I would expect that the leaderboard would be…

You can download a trial version of NTM to see if it fits the bill. It's quite easy to set up and you'll know pretty quickly if it's what you want. There are options of NetBrain and Live Action, but both of those are very expensive.

I used HP switches at a previous employeer - non profit where cost was a major concern. We could either buy name brand SFPs for hundreds of dollars each or non-branded for $69. For us it was a no-brainer to try them and after great success it was a no-brainer to continue to use them. Many times the big names are…

Awesome! I was pleased to crack the top 100. The competition is so tight the I'm constantly jumping up and down the list (currently around 65) something like a Ti double G R

At the end of last year we had a site with a 100 meg line. We suggested WAN acceleration, but the customer decided that increasing the pipe size was what they wanted. We put in a Gig connection to them (30 miles away) and the speed appeared the same, lots of delays and complaints about performance. Working with our…
