  • Does anyone know what is required to backup on the polling nodes, and NPM NCM node? Do you need to back it up? In terms of the SQL database i know i want my database using full recovery method. I can't seem to find any documentation on what needs to be backed up on the other nodes though.
  • Awesome, thank you very much good sir.
  • You my friend are a genius! I'll write up a document and post it on here with the exact steps on how to setup clustered instances. Because i've moved from using system centre operations manager to using solar winds, i was used to the concept of being able to monitor servers, and instances, and disk space all in one bang.…
  • Strange, because when i tried to add the VIPs as part of the network discovery, it only came back with the four nodes. I may be able to add the AppInsight for SQL template to the cluster VIP which would help do the same thing. I'll let you know what it comes back with.
  • Hello aLTeReGo, What I did was the following. 1. Clicked Network tab, Manage Nodes, add Node 2. Completed a discovery, looking for all my VIPs for the SQL instances 3. It returned my 4 cluster nodes SQN01 - 04 4. I added the resources you see below to each of the SQN (SQL Cluster Nodes) servers. I have a feeling what i…
  • Hello, I read earlier in the topic, that the master MIB database is updated every month. Is this still true? How can i update the database on my Orion server(s)? I am looking to see if updated MIBs and OIDs exist for the F5 Product. Thank you in advance.
  • Hey mdecima, I was able to find the OID i need by running the universal device poller program on one of my orion servers. I am wondering if it is possible to create a chart with multiple OIDs being part of the chart. Example. Virtual Server Name Virtual Server IP virtual server enabled status Pools associated with the…
  • Hey Balki 1429 How are you checking that the node is actually managed. - I am clicking on the network tab on my solarwinds dashboard and then clicking on manged nodes. If i search for the node that says it is not managed it shows up and is set to managed. Do you have the integration with Virtualization Manager enabled - Yes
  • Hey Guys, Based on that information. Lets say i have a polling interval of 300 (5 minutes) and a timeout value of 1200 (20 Minutes). Will Orion try to poll again, assuming that the last poll is still waiting to complete its timeout? Or will it wait until the last poll hits it's timeout and than try polling again? Thanks,
  • I've figured it out. Thanks.
  • Hello, Nice post! I have the same trouble here. It's cool that you can create profiles for different application types and add servers into that profile but it is still a bit manual. Is there a way to add a list of servers that are part of a GPO? My servers are rebooted based on GPO's that are hooked into SCCM. It would be…
  • In talking with support what had happened is .NET framework 4.6.1 ended up being installed via windows updates on both of my additional polling engines. I was told that NPM 11.5.2 which was the version of NPM I was on was not compatible with that version of .NET framework. To fix the issue i had to install NPM 11.5.3.

  • that makes sense to me! thank you very much for your replies! I had a bit of confusion between site and application it makes more sense to me now.
  • Hello, Nevermind, this is a lesson in how well i can read. If you are looking to open an existing map, there is a section in the navigation pane that says "maps" just have to double click the map you want to update. Hope this helps someone else that obviously cannot read Cheers,
  • Hey Balki 1492, I just read up on VMAN, looks like it is the module for solarwinds that does the syncing up between VSphere and Solarwinds. Looks like im missing that piece. Time to go spend some money. Thank you for making me think it out Cheers,

  • Hello Choly, You are correct. I ended up contacting support and had to run the uninstaller and try again. Once it was reinstalled everything worked fine. I ended up having another issue where the tab for NTA gave an error about the object reference is not set to instance of an object. This required me to stop the services…
  • Hey Geoff, I am giving this a try, i am having trouble understanding what the LDAP Server Manager DN is. Is this just a user that has domain admin access? It's not really clear in the administration document. Thank you !
  • Hello Everyone, I ended up finding out that the greyed out instances were just not setup correctly. They were using the default port instead of the actual port that all of my instances are using. After entering in the right information the grey instances turned red with a note beside them saying "never up". At this point…
