What makes more sense, five 9’s and High Availability (HA) or being able to quickly recover? For us, definitively quick recovery. HA is not needed everywhere and it is folly to try to achieve it when it is not. Do you design a perfect fit each time or stay consistent across the network? We try to keep every site…

Since I do a lot more here and on Spiceworks than on TwitFaceLink+, I don't mind really.

jkrause1 and maria.bungau, you are aware that you are commenting on the February Mission of last year, are you not ?

yeah... thanks clubjuggle, I changed my mind halfway through my sentence and did not proof read before firing... silly me.

It's not a secret now, thanks to Kevin Crouch , that we don't allow BYOD here. Doesn't mean it can't be done I'm afraid, but we have ways to find them...

Good question john.frisbee@gfcmsu.edu ! Gaming or betting is illegal in Canada, except for provincial lotteries and sanctionned casinos. The law allows prizes to be given in games of skills though and answering a mathematical question is considered testing a skill, thus is not against the law. For a contest held in another…

At a place I worked at previously, the manager told me "never take control of a pc without the user allowing it, they must not know we can do it". That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard really. That's outright lying to the users. I am Domain Admin. I have access to every bit on a server and physical access to…

Spam or no spam, I would say moderation of new members is not a bad thing in a community...

You just used the wrong page number... Page 5 of the PDF is not the same as page 5 of the actual document... Also, you should refrain from commenting on your results because it gives an unfair advantage to those who did not take the test yet... it's open until Dec 20th...

Christopher Good wrote: lol. That was good, but I can't bring myself to do that. Ha ha, it's fine, enjoy it ! I'm used to not winning. Somehow, my name is never drawn in that kind of contest. The only thing I ever won was a cheque from the government for "Persistence of obvious scars" after a car accident... although I'm…

Well, you asked for it : 10 - 4 * 3 + 2 = 0 Let the games begin !

byrona wrote: Scripting always leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Don't get me wrong, I completely see the value of scripting and even use it myself when appropriate. Unfortunately I have seen folks choose to support and run entire environments on scripts (that don't even work very well) versus using good commercial…

Agreed wluther Better check those answers twice...

tcpdump is often overlooked just because it's usually misused. "Too much data" and "I can never find anything useful" are the comments we hear the most often. I've been passing for an alien more often then not with my command prompt/ssh/terminal window always open, but again, I'm usually the one who finds the solution the…

That's because you read it wrong ZibaK, there is no bonus question, you just have to share the "bonus text" to either LinkedIn or Twitter to have your name in the bonus drawing.

Oh, I'm glad I've been able to dump the VIP mentality here. I've once had this discussion with a director (at a previous job). - "Could you please message your team that their server rebuild will have to wait until I'm done fixing your printer ?" - "What ? I can't tell them that !" - "Well, neither can I" - "Ok, come back…

The relevance of log data if often, unfortunately, determined at a time when you need it but don't have it. I guess it comes from past experience. When a situation occurs and you find out that part of the log isn't available, you quickly make the necessary changes but that particular situation may never occur again.

Got it ! I do agree with michael stump though, I had to read it more than once to be sure of my answer.

I believe quizzes that unlocks on specific days or weeks make people come here more often... and while they are here, they leave comments in the thread. I must admit I have done most of the quizzes in the first 2-3 days of the month and did not come back. The thing is, I usually participate in the ambassadors thread but I…

I would appreciate a status update as well is you don't mind... Thanks !

I'm not implying she does not have the skill, I wouldn't really know, but mirroring the video would be an easier way to achieve this.

No offense esther but I entered the answer in all lower cases with just a space between the words and that was it, I don't think case matters. justinm, forget the hints docs for a moment, read the answer correctly (and I would say calmly) and the words will come to you. Just don't forget what's the subject.

You won't find any argument with me on that...

I like "Block Games outright" but I would also like "Permanently ban TwitBookEdIn+ for all but marketing" as it (in my despotic view) has no place in business... except for marketing...

Dumbest thing I ever done : it was my first year in IT, and I had to replace the computer that managed a huge wood-drying kiln. As Dennis the Peasant would say "I'm 37, I'm not old" (36 in fact) but in my first year working in IT, many systems were still working under DOS. So I called the kiln company in Germany, and…

The IT department endure the same level of tracking as everyone else... except maybe a slight difference in outgoing firewall rules... *looks sheepish*
