  • I had the same problem and noticed that the NEXUS do not send the same syslog message as the other Cisco devices. So I went into Syslog viewer and copied the 'NCM Rule: Cisco IOS Realtime Change Notifcations' and called it 'NCM Rule: Cisco IOS Realtime Change Notifcations for Nexus'. Then I went and changed the Syslog…
  • The only implicit dependency is the interfaces. So when a node goes down, the interfaces are marked as unreachable and you'll only get a notification for the node going down. This is automatic. The rest of the dependencies you need to create. If a node is a parent for other nodes and it goes down, the other nodes will be…
  • You could select the "Only save configs that have changed" option in the config backup job. Or you could just rely on realtime change detection. RTCD will backup a config when a change is detected. You could just have that on, and have no nightly job to backup all the configs.
  • Can you please show an example? But it may be that some nodes are only monitored by ICMP.
  • I'm not sure what you mean by auto time to 3 seconds and snmp time to 3 sec. Can you show a screen dump of what you're talking about? If you go into Settings and then select Web Console Settings. There's an option in there for Page Refresh. It's configured in minutes.
  • Here's the explanation 1 Trigger pending. The condition has been met but not for the trigger delay period. This is the status of an alert with an active delay timer. 2 Triggered. This is an alert condition that was triggered and also exceeded the delay timer, or a triggered alert condition with no delay timer set. 3 Reset…
  • I'm not sure what the issue is but maybe you could change to netflow v9?
  • Sounds like you've not filled out the Reset Actions tab. This screenshot is from non web based Advanced Alert Manager.
  • Have you checked the Content Exchange? Lots of usefull info in there.
  • As sirpaw has said, you'll need to use the Report Scheduler to get reports emailed to you. But you should still be able to see reports when you click on Reports under HOME. Sounds like you haven't set it up for your user account. Go to Settings, then in Accounts select Manage Accounts. Select your account and click on…
  • This is available in the latest version. But I'm still on the previous version so I can't confirm if this is correct. Info from here Network Configuration Manager v7.4 Release Candidate is Available! It states " * Configuration Change Auditing Syslog data forwarded from network devices as part of real-time change detection…
  • You need the VNQM module.
  • So just to double check, you've filled in your SMTP details in the SMTP server settings in the syslog alert rule as per below? Syslog needs it's own SMTP settings per rule. It does not use info from the Advanced Alert Manager.
  • As mentioned, you can do this if you have NCM.
  • Use this as your filter Subnet.Address Like '68.156.10.*' or Subnet.Address Like '68.156.12.*' or Subnet.Address Like '68.156.13.*'
  • I get this when I click on the link
  • Looks like this function has been removed in NCM 7.3. See details at this feature request https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1954#comment-188060 I've asked for the Add to NCM function to be returned. If not, I'll create a new feature request for it.
  • I would start with reading the NPM Administrator guide. And if you have other Orion modules installed, then read those admin guides as well. Alerts are logged when an alert is activated. You can see all the alerts you have active in Alert Manager. Events are 'events' that occur such as reboots, additions, changes,…
  • I think this question should be in the NPM section and NCM does not provide this info. But could the other 5 tunnels just be old ones that have been deleted over time? Do they show as down - red? or are they just unreachable - grey?
  • I get that too, in fact I created a post on it a few months back. It seems that if your local date stamp is DD/MM/YYYY, it will be read by Thwack as MM/DD/YYYY. So in your case the 10/09/2015 is read as 9th of October 2015 instead of 10th of September 2015. And if the date is 13th or above, then you won't see your last…
  • I wouldn't bother monitoring the Loopback or Null interfaces. I certainly don't. Just like I don't monitoring user interfaces using of course has complained about a 'network issue'. Uplinks are worth monitoring though.
  • I generally don't monitor vlan's unless I have some issues. And I only monitor nodes if they're important. So for an access switch, I would just monitor the switch and the uplinks.
  • I had the same issue a few months ago and logged a call for it. These files are supposed to be self cleaning. At the time I was on version NPM 10.7 so I was told to either install Hot Fix 6 or upgrade to NPM 11.0.1. I choose the latter. All was good for a few weeks when the issue started again. I logged another case and in…
  • I don't have any Dell gear but in device Edit Properties, in the Communications section there is the Device Template. In there are 3 listing for Dell PowerConnect Switch. Have you tried to set the Device Template to any of these 3 options?
  • I can join you in this 100,000 point milestone!! Hoorah! Interestingly enough I got my CNE in 1993 (I can't remember which month, I'd have to find my certificate). I joined Thwack on the 18th of February 2011 and became a SCP on the 10/8/2012. I then became a MVP in January 2013. But you beat me to the 100,000 Onwards and…
  • Congrats mate! I joined a year before you buy haven't quite got as many points as yet My path to Solarwinds sounds similar to yours. My first certification was also a Novell CNE but I got it in June 1993. Those were tough exams! Then did a MCSE (in NT3.51) and then upgraded it to NT4.0. Then I got my SCP in Sept 2012.…
  • My guess is that there's something not right with the setup of these 3 sites. Are these sites configured the same as the others? Same IOS? Same kind of module in the 6500?
  • Does the config near the bottom in this thread help? sflow on nexus 9000 not working
  • Do a snmpwalk on the device and then look for the OID that have the information you're looking for. Then you just create a custom poller to poll the oids you're interested in.
