  • You are talking about real time detection. Which version of NPM have you got? It changed slightly with version 10.3.1. But look up doco on Real Time Detection and it will explain to you how to set it up again. It's not actually done in Advanced Alerts, it was done in NCM, Settings but it has now moved to the web version of…
  • I don't have the answer to your question but if no one else responds you may wish to open a support ticket for this.
  • I use custom views for different sections. Our helpdesk has one that gives them a quick overview of the whole network. I've also create pages for particular sites that only see the devices that are relevant for their site. So they only see their devices and data such as netflow etc. Then I've created pages for users that…
  • Yes you would just need to adjust your alerting rule to not alert when there's an issue with any device in this group. If you need help, post up the alert you wish to exclude this group from.
  • Not see that before either. What version of NPM are you using?
  • Here's the explanation 1 Trigger pending. The condition has been met but not for the trigger delay period. This is the status of an alert with an active delay timer. 2 Triggered. This is an alert condition that was triggered and also exceeded the delay timer, or a triggered alert condition with no delay timer set. 3 Reset…
  • Do a search for 11.5.2 upgrade. There are numerous posts on this upgrade.
  • You could just put in a fake address in the to: box.
  • robert.scarborough wrote: Is there a way to just import all my devices into NCM that are already being monitored in Solarwinds. Yup. Go to Settings, Manage Nodes and group by NCM - Licensed. Then select the ones you wish to add, click on the More Actions option and select Add nodes to NCM.
  • I've not found a way to do it either. It would be nice if we could copy a view with left navigation and all. You should create a feature request for this. I'll vote for it.
  • The problem is due to you selecting "Search whole word only". You are searching for a number so leave that box unticked and you will get your results.
  • It's because the unmonitored traffic is so high, you don't see the lower traffic in your graph. Untick the unmonitored traffic box and you should see all the other traffic then.
  • I remember doing the same thing back in the day! With the new syslog viewer it comes with a build in rule now that unfortunately can't be modified. But I would assume if you copied these details into a new rule (with the updated log entry check), it should work?
  • Happy Sysadmin day!! Radioteacher wrote: P.S. This week is the 24th anniversary of my first major certification. Novell Netware CNE-3! I got my CNE certifcation for 2.2 and 3.11 back in 1993! And then upgrade to 4.0 I think in 97 or 98.
  • I don't think this post is in the right section but what device have you got? You could use show inventory to see what's been plugged in?
  • I think the problem is due to the fact that your "Trigger Alert when all of the following apply" is alway true. So that when the "any" trigger occurs it automatically fires the alert. If you change the Alert to say just have "Trigger Alert when all of the following apply" Vendor is equal to Cisco Interface Caption contains…
  • Try a reboot of the solarwinds server. What version are you running?
  • Use the option "contains" and put in esxihost01 as the option. You could also use Machine Type instead of Node Name if they are all of the same type. Or you could create a custom property and use it instead of Node Name. So your trigger would be Host_Type (this is the name of your custom property) is equal to ESX_host (the…
  • If the above suggestion doesn't work for you, check the settings for windows itself in Control Panel, Regional and Language Options. Change the language to your preferred one or just click on customize and change the date display there.
  • You're absolutely correct. I'd never noticed this before as I don't normally look for down interfaces but in my case I only get UP, DOWN and UNMANAGED interfaces. In the DOWN interfaces section I only see interfaces of devices that have been switched off. In the UP section, all see all types of interfaces up, down,…
  • I've not sure what you are talking about. Please provide a screen shot to explain your question. Also you've posted this under ThwackCamp 2015. You should be posting in the appropriate forum such as NPM - Network Performance Monitor NCM - Network Configuration Manager etc
  • You could go into Manage Nodes and change Show to Interfaces. Then you can select them all and click on Edit Properties.
  • I agree with the IT director. I only do backups weekly. I also use Realtime Config Change Detection so it will backup the running config when someone makes a change. I would do nightly backups if more than 50% of the configs changed on a daily basis. Then I would not use Realtime Detection.
  • Just to be clear, you are getting this issue with every single node in your setup? Do the devices pass the SNMP test? Go to Manage Nodes, select a node and click on Edit Properties. Then half way down the page there's a Test button.
  • Enjoy the movie! I've not seen any of them so no point in me seeing this one
  • Is it a particular kind of alert that is causing utilization to spike? But try upgrading to the latest version and if still an issue, support should be able to help.
  • I've not used the Solar-Putty setup but if you want to change settings in the Putty Configuration window and you want to save that as the default, all you need to do is make the changes, then click on Session (that's the view you have in your example), click on Default Settings and click on Save. Now you have changed the…
  • I believe what you are trying to do is not possible. The NCM roles are assigned to be valid on all nodes that are in NCM. You can't separate nodes just in NCM and then give permission accordingly.
  • Sounds like you're looking for a list of compatible oid for the Dell iDRACS. This may help Free IDRAC-MIB-SMIv2 SNMP MIB Download - Free MIB Download - Search MIBs - OiDViEW
  • I'm not sure either so you can either just type it manually in your alert (no variable) or you could use the down variable which will show how long it has been down for by the time you get the email.
