Stick up some photos of your favourite band, that's what I do. Unless of course your favourite band is One Direction. In that case, leave your desk the way it is

Totally agree. Other than being able to do fancy tricks, he was still just a car. And people didn't wear funny outfits, well other than the usual 80's clothes and hair do's. I don't consider KITT to have ever been science fiction.

@"yumdarling" When I click on the link for Mar 10 question, it just takes me to this mission page. Can the link please be updated?

In addition to Solarwinds (NPM, NTA, NCM, UDT, VNQM & IPAM), I use Wireshark, ZOC and STG. I am only responsible for the network. Solarwinds gives me everything I need except instant views which is why I use STG. I know in our head office, they use Splunk to give them the custom reports they're looking for using the…

I'm not sure what you mean. You had to select multiple answers so I selected two. It seems you may only have selected 1 answer?

Nah, since the new format, the question opens on local time. The question opens just fine for me. In the old format you had to wait till it was morning in the US so I couldn't answer questions until 5pm local time

As you know I'm not new to Solarwinds but I would be keen to be involved with this. I'm not fussed about the points but I'm never been a huge fan of the forum layout. I had to watch the videos to get the most out of using the forum

Totally agree with what you've said. Being proactive is the main part of network management. The biggest hurdle is getting more money to spent on better infrastructure.

I love the Wayne's World movies but the Blues Brothers is my all time favourite. So it wins this round.

Cool, now it means I answered it correctly

There's only 1 correct answer.

Me too. It's hard to pick which one is right, or which one is more right. On one hand I'm all for stopping terrorists but on the other hand I'm also all for having privacy on my phone especially if I've put a lock code on it.

I've noticed over the years that no one seems to like the security professionals. They come across as being more important than anyone else. I've always tried to be friendly to them even though they can be major road blocks. I must say though, that in recent times they've become more approachable and much more helpful.

I use these same colours still for my telnet application Nothing like good old monochrome.

I've read the same scenario in an email as an IT joke but it finished with. Me: Do you still have the boxes that the computer came in. Caller: Yes I do, why? Me: You better pack up your computer as you're too dumb to own one

From a network point of view, we mainly use Solarwinds for all our networking needs. It also helps other department seeing what's going on on the network as it's easy to use and read information on. Even though Solarwinds costs money, it is time efficient.

@"trf" - it's in the text.

Correct. I just created a report that lists all my devices and serial numbers. I can then just search the report for the serial number I'm looking for. Would be nice though to have search box though built in.

Layered approach is where it's at but I find that when all those departments are separated, then it's really up to each section to make sure they are doing their bit.

Very nice but Father's Day here in Australia isn't until September

Thanks for the articles as always! And Merry Christmas to you too!!

The survey results make for interesting reading. It's good to see that Rock pretty much rules and that Aussie's prefer iPhones

I don't understand why anyone would vote no to any suggestion. I think they should remove the vote down option.

Yeah a recording of this session would be very usefull.

Yeah it's a real bugger when people get trained up and they leave. I remember in my previous job they wanted me to do a CNE but I had to sign a contract that I wouldn't leave within 3 years of gaining my CNE. I did get my CNE and I did leave before the 3 years. Main reason was that they were way underpaying me. I did ask…

I don't know Daisy but I like the name as it rhymes with my daughter's name Maisy

I get this when I click on Go To Vote for Day 5 Can it please be fixed? Thanks

Love the "when the tickets just keep coming" GIF! I feel sorry for that person. It's disappointing to read about the camera disabling device. When I go to concerts, I always like to take a couple of pics as a memento of the show. I wish that I had this technology when I saw all those bands in my youth. I remember sneaking…
