Have you tried to manually TFTP the config from the device? If that works, it will confirm your TFTP settings are ok. If not, then check that you have RW access to the TFTP folder. Have you tried changing SNMP Version to either SNMP V1 or V2 in Device Details? And have you double checked that the Community String setting…

We have 3 out of 6 showing this behaviour. They are the top 3 in this list.
-
Netpath is layer 3 only. If you don't see the hops in traceroute, then you won't see it in NetPath.
-
Only thing I can think of is that the resources aren't applicable to the view you are trying to add them to. What view are you trying to add these resources to?

If the device appears in NPM, then it's a poller. If it doesn't appear in NPM, then there's a discovery task checking this network. So do a search in NPM for the IP address of the device in question. If it's not found, check your discovery profiles.

I only backup my configs once a week (startup and running). I also have realtime detection turned on so if anyone updates a config, a copy of that running config will be stored. I purge all configs older than 6 months. Normally if someone makes a change that causes issues, the issue will show up (IMO) well within that 6…

Check out this video. Network Performance Monitor Training #10: Orion Network Atlas - YouTube Basically the nodes you drag onto the map are connected to NPM so if that node goes down, it will show as red on the map.
-
Why not just monitor the interfaces you are interested in or deem important? And delete all the other interfaces. No point in monitoring something if you're not interested in it.
-
I know this is late, but I'm happy to help. Only thing is I'm in Australia and our time zones don't overlap very well.
-
What you've suggested looks fine. For what it's worth, I run NPM 11.0.1 and VNQM 4.2 happily.
-
Yes you can use your 10.1 license to upgrade from to the latest version but you will need to have a maintenance contract with Solarwinds. Your upgrade path will need to follow this Orion NPM 7.8.5 ⇒ 8.5.1 ⇒ 9.1 ⇒ 9.5.1 ⇒ 10.1.3 ⇒ 10.3 ⇒ 10.7 You are best of to contact Solarwinds directly so they can give you all the…

In the GUI version of Advanced Alert Manager you can test out alerts. Just highlight the alert and press the Test button. Advanced Alert Manager is found by going to All Programs, then 'Solarwinds Orion' then 'Alerting, Reporting and Mapping'.

What network devices do you have? And are you able to log onto them to make changes?
-
Welcome mate!
-
For the cisco devices, I only monitor uplinks and any ports that have an "important" device on the other end. The device is added to the NPM database by its Loopback IP address. Anything you monitor, you can report on. So think when people are asking questions if something is slow, what reports do you need to look at. The…

As mentioned above, Solarwinds uses the Network Sonar Discovery tool to look for new devices. If you've got nothing configured in there, it will not look for any new devices. It's pretty self explanatory to use the discovery tool.
-
If the link is still up, wouldn't CDP still show the neighbour? What is shown in the log of the device? If something is logged, you could forward that to the Syslog Viewer and create an alert of that.
-
Alert can be sent directly from Syslog Viewer and Trap Viewer. Have a look in those 2 to see if the applicable alert is in there. I created this idea https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/4307 a while ago which if available would rule out Advanced Alert Manager straight away for you.
-
You would need to create a separate view for Network Devices, Servers and UPS's. So in each view you can only see information about say Network Devices. To do this you can use View Limitation of say 'Node Name Pattern' or 'Group of Nodes' etc. Then the Last 25 Events view will only show information about the nodes that are…
-
I don't see any problems with that. In that you migrate your current setup to a new server and then perform the upgrade.
-
I don't know of any MIBs for this (haven't looked into it) but if one of the power supplies fails, does it log a syslog message? I'm guessing that ti will. So you could set up an alert based on that syslog message.
-
I'm not really sure what your question is but I personally am enjoying the missions even if I'm not (or wasn't) eligible for prizes.
-
Just check that you have Send and Receive files ticked on.
-
I don't have that folder.
-
Looks like some polling of the device was missed. You need to check if the device was unavailable during those times and/or if Solarwinds was running correctly at that time.
-
I haven't done this but I don't think there will be any issues. Just make sure that all your modules are compatible with Windows 2016 (if you're on the latest versions, then they're compatible). And make sure you have a backup that you can roll back to if your environment fails to run on Windows 2016.
-
Do you mean NCM? As in Network Configuration Manager? Or NPM as in Network Performance Monitor? rschroeder has give some good examples on what you're looking for but for some you will need the NCM module as well.
-
Is the carrier also logging the firewall or are they logging a NTU or router? Are there logs on this firewall that indicate that the link was dropped? Flaps may be missed when only pinging once every 10 seconds. If you are having issues with this firewall, the download a copy of ping plotter and see if it drops any pings.
-
Alert for what? As mentioned, more info is required and also NCM is for config management. Solarwinds isn't just all marketing, it's a great tool. If you don't like it, then don't use it. That's your choice. I certainly won't be swayed by your rant to stop using Solarwinds. It does everything I need and it is simple to use.

There is a report in Audit Events called 'Last 100 Audit Events' which will give you the last 100 audited events and it groups them by user name. You could customize this report for a time frame instead etc. You could then schedule this report to run at certain times.
