  • Basic steps are 1) configure SNMP on device (make sure you Solarwinds server has access) 2) add device to NPM using the SNMP community you created in step 1 3) select what you wish to monitor
  • Personally I try to get the important info into the subject as it will determine if someone will double click it to open the alert email. Then in the body of the email I have all the alert details compressed into as minimal information that is needed. Otherwise it's just an information overload. HTH
  • I have about 6 class B address to scan but I've split them all into /24. That way it's quick and easy to see where what is and what is available. I create a folder for each class B address and then when you click on it, it will open the 256 /24 subnets. I then have a separate folder that just has each site listed and which…
  • Does what I've posted in this thread help you out? F5 backup configuration
  • Love the Monty Python reference I noticed you have a ' at the start but none at the end?
  • If you look at the 'other' interfaces manually, can you see any netflow statistics for them? Just double check that you are indeed getting netflow statistics from all the interfaces that you are expecting to get it from. You can do this by going into Netflow, and in Netflow Sources, click on the + next to the device you…
  • One way would be to go into Web Console Manage Nodes, then select all the nodes you wish to modify. Then click on Edit Properties. Now scroll down to Login Information, tick the box and either click on Reset options (e.g Reset to ${GlobalUsername} or fill out the details yourself. Then click on Submit. Or you can do it in…
  • So far I run everything of mine (bar the database) on one single server. Most crucial factor for speed is database access. My database lives in a SQL environment. If your speed is fine currently, IPAM shouldn't really load it up greatly. How big is the address space you're looking at scanning?
  • I'm running NCM 7.1.1 and when I delete a node in NPM 10.4, it also deletes it from NCM 7.1.1 Have you tried running a node sync and then testing it again?
  • It looks at the actual interface speed or bandwidth statement. But if they're both correct, you can just manually overwrite what NPM has configured. Just click on Edit Interface.
  • It doesn't make coffee. But as far as networking monitoring goes, it does everything I need it to do plus it's super easy to use.
  • Things to check are duplex settings (hard set these) and cables (replace cables). If that all checks out, try another port.
  • Have you tried to create a new schedule for the report? Have you checked to make sure all your services are running? You may be best to open a support case on this one.
  • No. Once you delete a port, all the info is gone. However, you could set the port to unmanage and then remanage it when you want info from it. But what is your reason for wanting to delete a port and then add it in later? Why not just have it monitoring it all the time?
  • Time to raise a support ticket.
  • Use the Advanced Alert Manager found on the server that has Solarwinds installed on it. It's pretty easy to use and there's a template already for Alert when Node is Down.
  • Do you have SAM? If so, you could write a poller that polls the replace Indicator field. Another option is to look at the log file on the UPS and see if any messages are logged for this. If so, you should be able to forward those messages to either syslogs or traps. And lastly, you may be able to email alert from the…
  • All settings for NTA are found by clicking on Settings in the top right hand corner. Then select NTA Settings in the Settings section.
  • Cool! Good to know! But I rarely have issues with Network Atlas. Every now and then I need to restart the program as it hangs.
  • Hi Jiri I've just recently installed UDT as well and I also can't get UDT info for the Nexus 5k & 7k. The 7000's details are Software BIOS: version 3.22.0 kickstart: version 6.0(4) system: version 6.0(4) I'm happy to share results of the UDTcompatability test with you but I'm not sure what you require. Please let me know.…
  • 1) Unfortunately you can't change the PDF report look. It's basically a screen dump. What you could do is, is to add "&DataFormat=Excel" (without the commas) to the end of your URL and press enter. It will then allow you to save the report as an excel spreadsheet. 2) In the Select Field tab you'll see 'Field: Event Time…
  • What are you using for authentication? Radius, TACACS? If so, then you should be able to report through that? I will have a look at a WLC tomorrow to see what gets logged.
  • This may help. If you go into Manage Nodes and change the Show box from Nodes to Interfaces it lists all the interfaces. You could then sort by name and in this view you can do a select all. At least that does allow some bulk deletes.
  • The changes you are making, is that for the current logged on user? And are there reports in the reports folder? Are these problems just limited to one user or is it multiple users? If it's just one user, does the user belong to an AD group as well which also has access to the Solarwinds server?
  • Check your language settings in IE to make sure it's set to UK and also make sure that it is set correctly in Windows itself by going into Control Panel, select Regional and Language Options.
  • Is there a bandwidth statement set on the actual interface?
  • I only alert on what I think is necessary so all the other traps just go into the database. Every now and then I'll go through the traps and automatically delete some of them from particular devices (access port up/down etc) just to keep the database smaller.
  • You can email jobs straight into Cherwell. So just use the Alert Manager to send the alert email directly into Cherwell.
  • Just create an alert in Advance Alert Manager. In the Trigger set the property to monitor to Interface. Then add in your trigger alert something like alert me when receive percent utilization is over 90% etc.
