You need to go into Configure Rules and select Syslog and then My Custom Rules Then click on Create New Rule and follow the prompts. In here you will also create an Alert for it. There is currently a bug where not all syslogs are being sent to email if a device sends more than 1 syslog per minute.

Yeah me too. I only did the NPM beta.

It happens to me every now and then and after a reboot of the poller, all comes good.

Every case I've had open with Solarwinds has been dealt with promptly and effectively. I've had gotomeetings with them with no issues. Email them a time when you are ready to do a gotomeeting and then be available for it. They are obviously trying to do a gotomeeting when you're not available. Hope you get it sorted, would…

Sorry for the late reply. 1) I would just leave the script on the Solarwinds server as part of the NCM job. 2) You can run the job under which ever account you like. Passwords are encrypted on the Solarwinds server so all should be secure seeing SCP is secure copy protocol.

Could I please get a copy of the email as well? I didn't get the email either. Thanks.

You're right,I forgot about that. As well as that the spike in latency can also be caused if the ICMP transverses a firewall or something like that. Netpath would help determine where the slowness occurs.

That's what I thought. I couldn't see a flow source. Glad you got it sorted. Can you please mark this question as answered? Thanks.

neil2094 wrote: Possibly this is due to the version code being quite old, 10.1.3 Must be as I tested this on my setup where I took a node down at 8:50am (so out of hours) and I got notified it was down at 9am (in hours).

What version of NPM are you using? As you can't have 2 devices with the same IP in NPM in version 11.
-
You obviously have too much time on your hands Congrats. I'm getting closer to the 100K club.

I just use cut and paste. It's quick and easy.

Try changing the port on the router or the router itself.
-
Have you changed ports on the switch? If using a SFP, try changing that as well. Otherwise try upgrading the IOS.
-
I've done the exact same thing. Takes a bit to set it all up but once all non-cared about items are in the ignored list, it only picks up what I need to know about.

Wow, I come back after a weekend and you've been knocking out the posts!! Especially in the Geek Speak section. Guess they're worth 50 points each You'll be flying up that leaderboard in no time.

If you don't exit out of the "configuration telnet" mode, then a syslog will not be fired off. Each time you make a change and exit conf t mode, you'll get an email. But you could use this to delay but I've not tried it.
-
It just appears like that and I assume it's because I have the Config retention set to 6 months. You can set your config retention on the "Purge Old Configs From Database" job. Looks like this.

Great idea, it's got my vote.

Thanks! I hadn't. You've answered one part of my query as Message Centre does show me who created an account but I can't see who has modified an account.
-
No worries, if you're happy with everything, can you please mark this question as answered. Thanks.

Here's the information page Configuring Real Time Configuration Change Detection

When you telnet to the real device, you do not need to enter enable mode. Thus you have to configure Solarwinds for the same i.e. No Enable Login.

rschroeder wrote: I like the discussion. Is it possible to use information from a trap or syslog message to trigger the map color change? Keeping in mind that a remote device may not be able to send a trap or syslog message to NPM, or receive a poll from NPM, if its network path is down due to losing a BGP neighbor or OSPF…

A link can still show as up even if BGP goes down. Cause the link could be plugged into a NTU which is still up but in the meantime the network link is down. So if you have a remote sites with 2 links both links can still show up even though the primary link is no longer passing traffic. To the OP, I'm not sure if you can…

I did have this issue as well but I never got around to fixing it. After upgrading to the latest version, it started working again. However at the time I did log a ticket for the issue and was told to do the following. Please do a repair of the JobEngine service to resolve this issue. This activity will need to shutdown…
