Yeah and just giving it a go. Just whack some device in NPM and dive into them deeper as you go. Compared to other, Solarwinds is an easy product to setup and get it monitoring.
-
That's correct. Do NPM first. If you try one of the others first, it will give an error and say it needs the latest version of NPM.

Yes this is one thing I don't like about IPAM. I still want things scanned but I'd like captions to remain. They need to introduce a static comments field that doesn't change.

I recently was working on a 12.3 environment and we saw the same problem that no widgets were listed. Doing a config wizard was the only way to fix it. It happened numerous times. When 1 person couldn't add widgets, no one could.

I can't remember which 2 widgets it showed but it was certainly not a browser issue. Happened on multiple machines with either IE or Chrome. The upgrade brought about a few issues which fortunately we were able to iron out. But we still need to keep an eye on the widgets if we have to re-run the config wizard.

I agree with this setup. Use it and all will be sweet (provided the device supports netflow)
-
Test alerts are just that, it sends a generic test alert. It doesn't actually check if there's anything wrong with the device.
-
^^ This is the correct answer. Untick that box and the results will be same.

I'm sure I've had occasions where I've typed a value in myself and it has behaved as I want it to. That's correct, it populates the drop down list…

You'll need to provide more information if my post above did not help. What password needs changing? The password that Solarwinds uses to download configs or the password that users use to log onto the Cisco device?
-
If you wrote the alert for just 1 trigger (so in this case you'd need 4 alerts) does it work then? I'm guessing probably not. What is in the script that will turn the component green again?

I found the same thing so I also monitor the uplinks between the Palo Alto and my 6509 switch. On this link I can see the netflow data. Will just keep using that until I can see it on my actual internet link out of the Palo Alto.

I did the same as well and I'm still on 11.0.1. You can't speed up the NTA change but mine only took about 30 mins or so. My database wasn't too bit though. My NTA database is now around 20Gb and holds about 6 days worth of info.

Interestingly I did a List Resources on one of them and it showed a cached version. I did a Force Refresh and then it showed the VLAN option. So one of the interfaces now had VLAN 1 on it. On the other 2, once I added an interface to VLAN1, I got the vlan option.

The above suggestions still apply. But now you have Netpath as well and you can alert on it.
-
Good news.

What's the problem?

I recently upgraded my server from NPM 11.0.1 to 12.1 and had issues along the way. Each ticket I logged was responded to within 30 minutes. Then a few weeks ago I wanted to upgrade the server from Windows 2008 to 2012 but each time I tried, Solarwinds failed to start after booting up on 2012. Whilst it took them a while…

This is a self cleaning process so I'm unsure as to what you are worried about. This information is cleaned out once a day. Unless there's a "clean out instantly" option, there's always going to be expired IP addresses. It's the way it is supposed to work.
-
What have got you "Delete expired data" in Database Settings set to? Once a day?

adatole wrote: "Suppress" is the Alert item I wish would go away. It does not work the way ANYONE things it is supposed to. Specifically, the rules in THAT tab do not cross-reference the rules in the trigger tab. I totally agree. That tab needs to be re-written or removed.

Yeah I was just gonna say, do you do any work? My view of world has improved dramatically in the last year. For many years I was in an office that had windows but I was not near one. Then I started a contract where I worked in an office with no windows. Then I got a window view on a Level 1 office. Now I'm in a building on…

Where do I find this export button?? This is what I see in Log Viewer.
-
Yup what Detroiter has said is correct. And also remember to modify the email message for the Reset Action.
-
You can use Solarwinds IPAM to find duplicate IP address. It comes with a build in alert.
-
I agree with this. Post up the view. As mentioned most widgets are able to be filtered in what they show.
-
The original question doesn't make any sense to me which is why I didn't comment. Have you played around with this Tab?

I tested this for the OP and found that setting the time on the Solarwinds server to 24 hours does not change the alert displayed time. So I tried it on my local machine as well and again the alert displayed time did not change. So I'm not sure where it is pulling the clock info from. If no one else replies, open a case…
