Hi Have a look at this. Monitor custom statistics based on MIBs and OIDs with Universal Device Pollers - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Sup…

Ah ok, so every device was working and now they are not. And you've confirmed that the community string is still correct as you can do a List Interfaces. I had this problem a while ago as well and Solarwinds had me do the following. Log onto your Orion Server as the account you used when you installed the software. Re-run…

Great! I had the same issue once that's why I asked the question Can you please mark this discussion as answered? Thanks.

Could be a bug. Have you checked all the hot fixes for it? Otherwise I suggest you log a call for this, hopefully they'll still support 10.7.

d09h wrote: As the poster did not mention alerts, I did not view the issue from an alert/ noisiness perspective. I saw it from the 'why is this thing on the view red' perspective. You're right, I never saw this query from this angle. Either way, now the poster has answers from either angle:D

How many nodes get added each day?

I've offered 2 solutions in this post. Is anything being logged in syslog when the neighbour drops? If yes, then you can alert on it.
-
First make sure that something is being created in the log for when you loose a link. Take a note of the message and then go to your Orion server and open Syslog viewer. Then click on View and select Alerts/Filters Rules. Click on Add New Rule. Fill out each TAB as necessary (otherwise just leave it as default). In the…

Any update?

Stephen Occhiogrosso wrote: If the routing neighbor goes down, there is a chance the syslog message might not make it to the Orion. I've seen a lot of instances were the link stay up but the routing neighbor is down and everything looks good from Orion's point of view. You're right, syslog is not super reliable but can you…

Basic Alert Manager shouldn't be used anymore. Open it up and remove any rules that you still have in there. And then test it again. If Server B goes down at the same time as Server A, then the alert for Server B would be supressed. But if Server B stays up and Solarwinds can still get to it, then it may report on it…

That shouldn't matter in regards to the node going red on the screen. It the node is down, it must go red on the Solarwinds page. Start with getting it to show red. Once it's red, then alerts should work.
-
That is correct but that wasn't the case when this thread was first created back in June 2018.

Legend! That fixed the problem. Thanks mate!

Here's a closeup of what Mike is talking about.

I use what Rob Hock has suggested "Sure- if you open Syslog Viewer on your NPM server, go to View->Alerts/Filter Rules" and it works great. I've got an open rule to be alerted for all 0, 1 & 2 alerts and then some defined ones for BGP and power. I do however only use it to generate email alerts.

If you are still on IPAM 4.5 then I would delay the upgrade unless there's something you really need to upgrade. Unfortunately with the new installer you can no longer be selective with what you do or don't install.

I have exactly the same symptoms as yourself, Last Discovery isn't updating, but the contents of the subnets is. I'm really annoyed as I was happy on 4.5, but installing a HotFix to try and solve an…

If you select Interfaces in managed nodes, you could use the select all button. And limit the number displayed as you see fit. Some will still need to be done individually though.
-
When you say it remains green, you just mean you can keep seeing it in the list of connected AP's? Do you use the down AP email alert?
-
Yeah what Craig said. In the past I've just used Cisco Prime purely for the wireless and used Solarwinds for everything else. Polling is normally a low overhead but until you try it, you won't know. I personally don't see any issues with it.

Thanks for your assistance. That's exactly what I did. So now the historical is set to the Average view But as you can see, now my MAX values are no longer correct as they don't have the historical icon anymore. And now when I re-run my report, you can see the MAX values are changing. They are different to the ones I…

You are allowed to mark it as correct or a Thwack administrator. Remember you can decide if someone has answered your question correctly, cause their answer either solves your problem or in this case 'seems' like the right answer.

I've only done it in the GUI version.

That doesn't mean duplicate IP address, that means duplicate node. NPM doesn't detect duplicate IP addresses. You can tell by the fact you can't write a rule in Alert Manager for this.
-
I hadn't seen that before, thanks! But I need it just for 1 circuit and to have the report emailed out each day so using Flow Navigator doesn't look like I can achieve that. Or have I missed something? Thanks!

Yup Realtime Change Notifications is really easy to set up. Just follow the instructions and you should be right. With the latest version they've made it easier to setup than previously. Just make sure all your devices send their syslogs to the Orion box. If you have any hassles, give us a shout.

I did a test and found the same as you. A down interface does not show on an upper map so it looks like it is by design. You could put in a feature request to ask for this functionality but there may be a good reason for not showing down interfaces on upper maps.

I agree with this, it looks like something was changed on the 5th. Good luck!
