We have the same thing happening here but the tunnels go up and down on regular intervals. And whilst they are showing as down, they are in fact still collecting stats. The other option is to show them as 'unplugged' instead. I will try ecklerwr1's suggestion of polling via snmp and see how that goes.

I don't do visio diagrams, I do all my diagrams in Solarwinds. They are live and it's easy to see if any go out of date. As I'm also alerted of network changes, I can adjust the diagrams accordingly. We do have architects that document everything in visio but sometimes these are so high level, it's hard to work out what's…

Wow I won a prize!!!! After many years of trying in these monthly comps, I won a prize. Sweeeeeet! The prize is something I've actually been looking for. Something to improve the wifi in my house and something to control the kid's wifi. Both boxes ticked with 1 prize. Solarwinds, you guys rock!!

I have to pay more attention

Just tell her that you'll turn it up to 11 for her.

It supplies warmth to the office

I think it was nice having some questions where there is the potential to get it wrong. Usually you can just do a control F and find the answer. Having to read the article makes it more worth while. I wanted to help with the question but due to different timezones I could not do so. But either way, I think this is the best…

Yes as long as it creates a syslog message that the config has been updated, RTCD should be able to be used to backup the config. I use this for all my devices.

Week 2 done as well.

We introduced shared services a few years back. This allowed them to reduce staff numbers. Some impact was of cause noticed but most went pretty smoothly. I personally liked the changes.

We have the same here. If we don't know about it, it won't be supported. But there's always exceptions to the rule.

I think they are not stealing your Jeep as they don't want it??

Here here! I voted too. Who cares about a little spam. There are spam filters for that and they are easy to use.

There's definitely widespread interest. Hello from Australia

Lionel is the original "Hello" singer.

For me this has been the hardest mission by far. I barely got any right It probably doesn't help that I don't use these particular products. Anyways it was still fun and I enjoyed the cartoons that were created. Well done Solarwinds and congrats to all the winners.

True that!

That is such a good point. If everything is not accessible, so is the documentation. Another good thing is to keep the network less complicated. Makes troubleshooting much easier.

Logging is a tricky one. You need to have logging but you don't want to log anything and everything. Otherwise all the important logs will/may be lost. For me logging/alerting is an evolving thing. I keep fine tuning it along the way. I do take the time to randomly go through the logs to look for any important issues that…

I am surprised that Messi got beaten by Stubing! Must be a lot of old people in the room me included. But I would've voted Messi even though I loved The Love Boat.
-
As a general rule logs are kept for at least 30 days. But it does depend on what it is and how much space there is to store the logs.

I'm going on a non-thwack-aday?

Using the debug command too can cause this issue. I've stopped some switches from working back in the day entering an incorrect debug command. Live and learn as they say.

Good start to the year

This is always my favourite question to answer. I can't possibly get it wrong
-
Yeah I've been getting moderated a few times! I didn't think I said anything too controversial
-
Yup monitoring is a fine tuning piece of art. Even just today, I wrote another alert for a failure we've not had before. So next time we will be alerted
-
Yup agreed, this is a must have. Let's promote this

Look forward to reading all about it.
