I've just upgraded to 2019.4 so I've been playing around with the map. "When you create those manually connected lines in Atlas - they never change status correct? You can specify an assignment but don't get any of the information actually bubbled up via the map itself without some sort of interaction correct? In Orion…

I was on Thwack for all the previous ThwackCamps but the timezone difference made it real difficult to attend for the full day. I was lucky to attend in person in 2017 but all others I've managed to only attend the first session on the day. I do have shirts though:)

So you're saying the sentence should read "Which ONE of the following support case numbers have been fixed with the ......". Doesn't sound like good english to me. So I don't agree with you. I stand by my original comment.

I had no trouble answering question 6. In fact I could only find 1 possible answer. Maybe I'm too casual as this whole contest thing

Documentation can be very helpful at times. Other times it can be a waste of time. If in the above example they started looking through documentation, would they have found the answer was a rule in the firewall? Maybe, maybe not. One other issue is that at my work place, security is a different team. So I would never see…

Well said If I still relied on my CNE that I got back in 1993, I would've been unemployed for a long time!

I did exactly the same and I got it right. All the info was in the hint page but you did need to click around to see extra info. Just using control-F would not cut it for this question.

Today (Oct 12th) hint link does not work. It's going to https://thwack.solarwinds.com/resources/b/community-announcements/posts/link which gives a Page Not Found error.

I think AppStack is a great product but I don't have SAM, WPM, VMan, and SRM as I'm not responsible for apps etc. So I'll never get to try it out.

Setting passwords seems like such a simple task but even I struggle remember with numerous passwords I need for different systems, software, forums etc. And some I only use in a blue moon, so that makes it even worse. So I use a password program that stores all my passwords. Downside is I have to remember that one as well.…

Unfortunately I didn't recognise over half of these villans.

maria.bungau I just answered today's question and I was able to access the LEM demo but it contained no changes. I watched the video to get the answer. For last Friday's question, I also used the video to get the answer. I've not used LEM before so it's cool to see what it can do.

That's great to hear!!

In your example, config write is via TFTP. The OP is asking for this to be via SNMP. That ability is not in NCM. For TFTP you need a username and password. For SNMP transfer you don't. You only need the community string.

This clearly 'shows' the answer to 13D. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers#:~:text=Under%20RFC%201149%2C%20a%20homing,can%20carry%20Internet%20Protocol%20traffic.

Agreed. I found the right answer without reading these comments

Great post. I totally agree to much monitoring is no good for anyone. I just have the right amount of alerts to make sure things are running smoothly. Overload means it gets ignored, or real issues get lost in the total amount of alerts.

Completed the survey.

Ah yeah, you posted this 5 years ago. I guess until now, it's never been a problem for me as it was purely a network tool only. Here's to hoping

silverbacksays wrote: IMHO, It's good that some of the questions make you think outside what you can find with a CTRL+F on the hint page Totally agree. What's the point if it's super easy? May as well have a lucky dip draw each week, rather than having some fun and learning something along the way.

Flow is good Flow is bad I hope everything keeps working Otherwise I'll be sad
-
As others have said, it depends on what the issue is.
-
I agree with that one must still do monitoring even if the server lives in the cloud. There are plenty of times when the provider doesn't even know there's an issue until someone informs them (they should run Solarwinds )
-
I guess if employees have no access to install software on their computers, then that would stop the issue. Also having up to date antivirus software on their machine should also help. The problem is when something new comes along, and the scanners aren't detecting it.

Today's question needs a little work although I did answer it correctly. And the hint doesn't work either It should be Cloud Performance Optimization – Database Management System | SolarWinds

I use NCM and it does everything I want it to. So I've not looked elsewhere to see if there's anything better. I have used other products in the past but they were clunky and hard to manage. I have no such issues with NCM. So I'll keep using it But your list is spot on.

Another week done. I too have been getting the 404 error but when I go back in it's marked the question as correct. I haven't checked my points score as I'm not fussed about the points.

I agree with the report but I do have reservations. We have certain SLA's to always meet but with more and more going offsite, it's hard to say if they'll be met as well as what having it all onsite.

You've been a very naughty boy!! Monty Python reference in case it's missed.
