Within our organisation we inform everyone of planned outages. We do these outages when it least impacts other department. But the worst part is not many read the outage notifications so then try and complain if they were affected by the outage.

Welcome to the team!!

I'll go with this analogy

Welcome back and Hello. I enjoy reading your past posts but post when and if you have time. I don't have as many (actually I don't have any) online commitments as you so it's easy to be in here a lot.

I didn't think the slurpee by drone was serious but I was wrong. Here in Australia they are now delivering Pizza via a robot! DRU - Domino's Robotic Unit - Autonomous Delivery Vehicle I guess anything is possible.

All the best!!

There was no option for "I was certified but it expired"

Yeah I agree. We got on the Cisco WAAS bandwagon instead of using Riverbeds. It ended up being a big flop and we are now on Riverbeds.

I feel so inadequate. I only have 2 x 19" monitors. I do however have a Beatles calendar and some smurfs.

I currently use a physical server with Orion loaded on C drive. It has remote storage D: drive which has the NCM database on it. And the whole thing connects to a SQL cluster. What's the best way to go to make this a virtual server? I'm happy for no redundancy if the server is virtual. But I'm not sure what's the best way…

Thwack is looking great. ThwackCamp was awesome! Thanks for the big effort you all put in!

Best I get is an email after the job has been completed stating "Thanks for all your help." When there was more money to throw around and you completed a big project, the boss would pick up the tab for a dinner for 2.

I saw a shirt the other day that had a slogan "When tech was cool". Below was a pic of a cassette tape, VHS tape and 5.25 floppy disk. I started with selling XT's, 20mb hard drives and monochrome monitors and Dos 3.3. I was super excited when the CD came out. Records were a pain the backside trying to record them onto a…

Well done! All the best for the next adventure.

Cisco WAAS was clunky and never as good as what Riverbed could do in regards to compression.

The answer is 13 letters. Took me about 30 seconds to find it.

Yeah everything is about cost containment these days. I personally haven't started using the google apps much but they have some cool features like multiple people can edit a document at the same time, you can do voice to text as well (dictate a document), use live spreadsheet pages on a web page dashboard. Maybe you can…

Some things I like to see are 1) if you're on the same level as another person, don't email them, go talk to them 2) setting up a tech bar in different areas (on different days) of the business so people can just walkup and talk to someone about their issues.

It sounds like eventually we could all be calling any type of data collecting, telemetry.

This is my home away from home.

Bit of an issue with today's question. The link to the survey is broken..

2 wrongs for the month. I think that's my worst mission ever! It's a good thing that I start with a clean slate in the new year.

mr.e wrote: Vegaskid, I too think that this battle will continue till the end of times. I agree. Really we are reliant on software manufacturers to release software that can't be compromised. And security holes these days are more easily spread. I remember in the old days you had to use a floppy disk out of an affected…

Your list is spot on. Without that, you can't really be "on top" of your network.

No but I've used firewalls in the past plus I did some research.

My condolences to everyone that knew him. Never nice to loose a loved one. RIP LG.
