Same. Browser plugin? Testing...

Excellent write-up, Jake! Thank you for taking the time to share. Question: Can you or @"KMSigma.SWI" tell me how much (if at all) the new install process relies on the Remote Registry service? Ours is disabled to comply with regulatory security requirements, and I'm afraid that could put a kink in things.

Will do! Fast impulse topic ideas: * Ten best and ten worst reasons to use cloud services * AI: I do not think that word means what you think it means (Haha, this is my personal vendetta! When most people say "AI" what they're really talking about is either ML or just automated actions based on a lot of rules.) * Why many…

Oh, I thought this post indicated that it was out of beta, which is why I was confused. The 3.0.0.309 release on Github still has the beta tag. Still a win, though!

Components of the node that can "contribute" to it's overall [enhanced] status. For example, an application, an interface, or a voluem

I think it's because Orion classifies physical and virtual memory as storage devices. Interesting.... This is one of the reasons that we disabled the OOB storage alerts and created new ones. Our new storage alerts filter out physical memory, virtual memory, and a few other 'storage' types, while also adding handling for…

Same sad story here. ️

Citrix is also pushing users into subscription-based licensing. It's getting harder to find vendors that aren't moving toward this revenue-favoring model. Not two months into his job as CFO of Citrix, Arlen Shenkman is speeding the software company's transition from a perpetual- to a subscription-based licensing model, a…

Might be worth expounding on this idea a bit, and I think there may be some similar FRs already. 1. Could be hard to get an accurate or useful count on, because a user could have more than one session logged in at once, and you may also not be able to easily determine which sessions are still active. (To that end, active…

Ouch. Please add bold print and asterisks for people who are installing APEs and expect alert actions to work.

jcournoyer@maybury.com wrote: So, how many people counted @knucklebusted list or were lazy like me and just pasted it into Excel to do the count for me? Either way, thanks for doing the leg work. It was easy to get the correct answer now. VS Code. Thanks, knucklebusted!

Can anyone expound on the "Validation of CIS IIS and SQL Server best practices" item? Does this mean that the configuration wizard now follows best practices, or that AppInsight templates for IIS and SQL Server can monitor for compliance?

Bump. The low number of votes on this may indicate a relatively low usage of AOAGs, but does not indicate their level of criticality.

I read this as "swis and a miss!"

Today's question is tricky, but I took a chance and got it right. As Danielle has already stated, the name of the product itself provides a clue to one of the correct answers. Don't look just at the bullets.

Awesome to see this now a WIP!

Still trying to decide between an Xbox or Switch. Any votes?

I’m nearly there, too. We have one array that SRM can monitor.

Yes, that was a great page!

I think the blank line _____ is simply in the wrong place for # 14. The answer is looking for the last name of a person, correct?

That is a nice option to have, but we ideally should not be using the plain text credential fields in the Pingdom web interface, and this tool looks like it requires installation in order to use, which might not always be an option. I have added a related feature request: Provide a secure credential manager for Pingdom -…

That's funny, I got a dude in a wind suit with big brown eyes. Does he work for Goya Foods now?

This sounds like something you can create in Alert manager without needing any new features in Orion. Can you describe a little more?

I would settle for current polled value, and maybe previous polled value as a comparison.
-
The information that OHM gathers can already be collected with SNMP. Are you suggesting that having an OHM agent on an endpoint could bypass the need for device-specific MIBs, or that OHM could be the polling engine?

I'm always surprised to see posts that say "I didn't get points for ___ survey" or "for last week's question." How many of you actually keep track and validate points for every action you take on Thwack? I don't usually, but it is always fun to see the jump after a UX session!

+100 for this. I do not use the AppInsight for IIS or the AppInsight for SQL on 90% of the relevant systems, and this makes my network discovery results (new/changed) look MUCH larger than it really is, due to the unapplied application templates.

FYI, today's hint looped back to the mission page.

@"ecklerwr1" to be fair, WMI isn't actually a protocol. You're either querying WMI/CIM data remotely using Win-RM over HTTP[S] or by using the legacy protocols (DCOM, RPC-EPM, and RPC ephemeral port range). So yes, Orion would still be submitting WMI queries or CIM queries.
