Almost forgot about this feature request. Surprised there isn’t an extension that provides SWQL IntelliSense, validation, and formatting yet.

Having this option on the drop-down command menu would be nice, but (just checking my memory) -- you can still highlight your nodes, bulk-edit properties, and then change the polling engine, right?
-
Just want to add a formal note requesting that this also be implemented for NPM / node detail polling.
-
Seems like something that could be doable if the platform had role-based access control (RBAC) and the ability to set node admins or group admins.

e.g. A volume that will always be at 99% and you don't want to waste the resources to monitor it and maintain data about it.

Glad to see this moved to WWWO so quickly!

Self care is a GREAT way to make yourself more effective at work! After that, learn a scripting language and start automating! It's hard to imagine an IT job these days that could not benefit from PowerShell in one way or another!

Nice work on this puzzle! We appreciate the time and thought that must go into things like this.

Not sure I follow--are you trying to use an alert to query ALL instances for the ENABLE_SQLSTATS setting, or just query 1 specific instance for this setting?
-
This is MASSIVE. I'll miss my favorite "Up Down" status, but I guess we can live without it.
-
Interesting idea. Before I vote, can you explain how the current scheduled discovery options don't do this for you?

When all is said and done, I'd love to know what from the list of "New features and improvements" is being counted as a "new action," because I only count [spoiler] phrases that sound anything like a "new" action versus an "enhancement" of an existing action.

Week 2, Question 8: "Incorrect." Hmmmm.....confused, re-reads marketing material: "You can reclaim wasted resources in a virtual environment by deleting VMs with high snapshot disk usage." Queue The Rock's eyebrow pop. I don't usually question the answers, but....what?! Shouldn't that spec sheet read "delete VM snapshots…

RE: Removal of default website in appsight for IIS, I would be really happy to see my tweaks persist after I have un-managed a component that is included in the AppInsight template.

Yeah, I just took a look at F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager & DNS Monitoring Tool | SolarWinds . There's no reason that the description on this page couldn't also exactly describe the info that is pulled regarding application delivery through Citrix ADCs (Netscalers). "Monitor the health and performance of all components…

Three Amigos had the win until somebody shot the Invisible Swordsman!

YES! Compliance checking against the CIS benchmarks would be a massively valuable feature. I wonder if it would be possible to integrate the CIS-CAT engine via scripts, API calls, etc. Having that data in Orion would be amazing.

Liking the trend of using the mission to show new features!

All, these are fun, but please notice that today's mission states that flowetry should be posted in the network flowetry thread --> (https://thwack.solarwinds.com/t5/Geek-Speak-Blogs/Network-Flowetry/ba-p/481082) and not as comments on this mission.

gharrison wrote: Have to agree with you. I selected the "correct" answer, but totally disagree with it. Blindly deleting a VM that has lots of snapshots doesn't make sense to me. In fact, I would think a VM with lots of snapshots is probably being more actively used that one that's never had a snapshot. Now, looking at how…

Very cool to see "GMSA Account for the Orion database." Does this mean SQL Server running as a gMSA, or something else?

Lots of fun! Thanks, @"yumdarling" and team!

I just checked SRM's potential support for monitoring PowerVault. The first step, as you can see in the screenshot below, is to point it to the SMI-S provider that is configured for the storage array. The PowerStore platform has dropped SMI-S in favor of using specific APIs for monitoring and management. Unfortunately,…

There's definitely some security implications for making this accessible via mobile, AND definitely some great user experience/support benefits as well! Does the mobile app support and enforce secure tunneling, encrypted app data, and multi-factor authentication?
-
Would also be game for a solution that allows the data to be exported as a report or in a data format such as CSV or JSON.
-
@"yumdarling" I tried again from a different network and it worked this time. It's possible that our corporate firewalls didn't like the way that the content was embedded.

The unmanage utility still exists, but looks and acts like it was last updated a decade ago. It also is not desirable to have to depend on the Windows Task Scheduler engine (another potential point of failure), using reversible credentials in the script, and having to save credentials in the scheduled task as well. (In the…
