It's a tricky one. We need the switches to identify a cable plugged in but not live as Down and a port with no cable in it as unplugged. I'll give CISCO a shout to build that…

So Settings >> All Settings >> Node & Group Mgmt >> Manage Custom Properties. Add Custom Property Change dropdown to Interfaces Name it as you desire - maybe "Shutdown_Interface" I'd set it as a Yes/No in the format box and value must be specified. Click next, click submit (I wouldn't bother using this section to apply to…

First off - I don't have an answer [because my coding skills are pants] but I'm always interested in any post where someone is trying to do something in bulk as it is one of my bugbears about SolarWinds. Secondly I confess to being intrigued as to why you'd want to set them this way. Irrespective of the reason, My guess is…

We have a fair number of ACI kit and don't see the issues you have. However, we have previously upped (for other kit) SNMP Timeout to 4500ms prior to adding the ACI, Leafs, etc. Our retries are set at 3.
-
Welcome and I trust you find THWACK to be useful... As to your issue then there are usually some good reasons behind why this might be ... * first is the load on the THWACK forum itself causing issues * or it could be an Internet 'thing' * but more likely is a browser / cache issue* browser - hit that refresh or choose…

I don't know that it is best practice, but traditionally we never monitored VLANs of any sort. Once virtualisation came along we took a more pragmatic approach and only monitored important VLANs as clearly there is no physical here - your definition of important may be very different to ours. Also, this small thread may…

I don't know if downtime will be required just to update the MIBs - it may require a brief outage as services restart. To be 100% sure I'd reach out to support and ask. FWIW, we always plan our upgrades for out of hours and raise blackouts, etc - any MIB update is applied as part of the upgrade.
-
Yes NPM can monitor Checkpoints out of the box. With the creation of a few UnDP's you can also individually see each CPU or the number of concurrent users, etc.

I am far from being a coder, but I have never managed to get ADDDATE to work. So I've replicated your query into my environment and changed the Server ID to 80 (I don't have a 78). I edited the WHERE line to be: WHERE (VSS.DateTime > ADDDAY(-1, GETDATE())) If you want hours, then I believe ADDHOUR(-24, - will work.
-
Many thanks Sunil - I appreciate the time to write that up. Sorry that I can't help with your original query though.
-
Both devices are manufactured (or under license at least) by HPE so it is likely they share a lot of similarities. I may be wrong, but in my reading I also believe that HPE are trying to bring these ranges (and others) into one homogenous range and as such will likely become more and more "similar".
-
Nothing to do with your query but can I ask how are you actually extracting the IP SLA details? Are you using the VOIP module or via an OID and an UnDP in NPM. If the latter, can you detail the approach you've taken please?
-
As an addendum to @"m_roberts" reply you can also turn on auto-dependencies on a platform wide basis. This will take the hassle out of creating them all for a large environment. See this KB article for how. The caveat here is that SolarWinds doesn't always get these right, so you can then create a manual one as per Marks…

OK understood - so the only way to make sure a new dashboard has a Unique ID is to export all current dashboards and compare & contrast? But are my steps for importing via SWQL right? And if yes, then any idea what is going wrong. From my view it appears that the content box of the import can't cope with the entire JSON -…
-
Just getting around to looking at this as I want to add some of the already created dashboards. For e.g. I'm trying to add this one: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/content-exchange/the-orion-platform/m/modern-dashboards/2925 So my process has been to: * download the JSON * open in Notepad++ to linearize * Check unique key…

I'm not familiar with Brocade kit but presumably if it is monitorable via SNMP, then they (Brocade) also have MIBs. If you can find an appropriate MIB and search it, or even ask Brocade or on a dedicated forum if there is an OID for port errors - then you could build a UnDP. Another option would be an SNMP Walk of the…
-
@"mtr" the best place to share these is in the Content Exchange - specifically for this one I'd suggest here.
-
I don't have a direct answer to your query, but have you tried an SNMP Walk of the device to see what it does return? I don't mean the MIB Browser built in to the browser but the standalone SNMPWlk tool. It usually can be found here: "x:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\SnmpWalk.exe" - where x = your drive letter. You…

Cool - that's yet another acronym I didn't know but just 'wasted' 30 or so minutes reading around the subject to get a grasp of it. Now I'm thinking bout the rabbit hole ahead and what could I do with it :)
-
OOI, do you do anything specific with the data other than a visual check?
-
Well I just threw them in as ###START and ###END for my test.
-
Just include them and make sure you tick the 'include commands in output' option.
And add a "### START" at the beginning and "### END" at the end of each node.
Sorry - forgot this bit... when you look at the output either in the job log or saved to file or…
-
I don't have that job in our environment, but we do something very similar to what you want... and it is very straightforward to create from scratch. Steps are to first create a new job.. > choose your when to run options > then what nodes it is run against > any notification - and here as a minimum you will want to save…

As I said - if you create your group structure in IPAM and then export it - you get a structure.xls (or csv) which shows you, and TBH I wouldn't want to try and create my own. It also includes a subnets folder in the zip export. So if you've also created the subnets, initially, all you need to do is populate and then…

Unfortunately I haven't the time in my day job to assist, and outside of work I'm a busy foster dad to a set of 2yr old twins and a 9yr old - so literally get no spare time. But if you follow my advice in the last two sentences then that will get you where you need to be.
-
Hi ... my approach to this would be to get a template file initially. So head over to "Manage Subnets & IP Addresses" menu and when you get there create a dummy group, subgroup, and entries. Configure these as you'd like the end result to be and then select the parent group in the left hand column and click on > export >…

Did you get anywhere with this scenario in the end as I would be interested in the result?

Hey Dylan, welcome to the mad world that is SolarWinds First off I heartily recommend you head over here: https://github.com/solarwinds/OrionSDK and grab SWQL Studio. The latest release as of writing is: 3.1.343 - then install it on one of your SolarWinds boxes or anywhere in fact that can get access to the DB. The name…

Ahh ha - good spot. I almost always change the view of any device to this, as I really don't like some of the specific views. It also means when you add widgets to this view, if it isn't relevant to a node then it shouldn't show.
