Great article! I already had Third Party Updates, which is a MUST. The other two are great additions!

I just realized this was in the Geek Speak blog as opposed to the Patch Manager blog. I realized this went I went back to find it, and couldn't! =/ I vote for this blog to be moved to Patch Manager! =)

sure! cannot go wrong with more ways to access. in addition it would nice to remotely invoke computer manager too! i often bring up AD user and computer just to find a computer, right click and choose manage. if i can hit an admin share, RDP, and bring up computer manager on any 'managed' remote computer from PM, that…

Very cool! I would LOVE to see a portable version! Thanks!

I just updated to 1.85 and found all my custom views to be reset! This really sucks as i had put in a significant amount of time customizing those views. Including following the recent article which now have to be redone! Please bump this feature request! Thanks! -mark

i think i found a bug. my url starts with an HTTP which is showing as invalid because its not http when uppercase HTTP works just fine. screenshot:

I have thought about this but decided because 3P packages require so much manual testing before deployment that adding automation doesnt really make sense. However you mentioned just publishing the metadata and that got me thinking. I have not used the 'just publish metadata' options before and maybe I need to. Does this…

cannot go wrong with more communication options

that installer does give me the option to point the 'temp' folder to wherever i want. so where exactly is the 'local installer folder'? to follow up on my previous question, where do we typically see MSI logs when PM deploys software? Thanks!

Very cool!

It got email in my inbox today! Try sending me a private message, and lets test again! Thanks!
-
not as of your post. try updating this post, and sending my a private message. i will let you know. thanks!

yes it is fixed. although how it was fixed seems a bit odd. they changed the mechanism from a 'fail' (-all) to a 'neutral' (?all). not sure i would have gone that route. its almost like they didnt know what the problem was, so they gave up and completely disabled SPF. not sure why they didnt just add the ip. its probable…

makes no sense to me either. i understand the force install, which is a cool feature. i am just suggesting that google really should use the version number appropriately, like all the other software i manage. weird version number:

I would like to keep this thread here in case others wonder about the same. I have posted this feature request in the appropriate forum. Thank you for your assistance! -mark

Thanks Lawrence. Wondering if we have an update on this. Getting a nice inventory report would be handy about now.

thank you.

1. Version checking the dll, as opposed to the exe, is right way to go in my experience of successfully patching adobe reader and adobe pro from versions 10.0.1 through 11.0.6. Sometimes referencing the exe works just fine. Again, like Lawrence said, it can vary and only testing will produce reliable results. With that, I…

very cool, thank you! the command line install works as expected, so we should be good there. i didnt know if i had already enabled MSI logging so i found this MS KB How to enable Windows Installer logging and confirmed the MSI logging was not enabled. i ran the 'check and manage computer connectivity' tool, unchecked the…

That isn’t how msp files work. Msp files have no config scripts because those are built in and unchangeable. Basically the msp code looks at the system msi information to determine what can be updated. Its entirely up to the msi and msp programmer to make sure it all works in all scenarios. Unfortunately it appears adobe…

What version of PM are you running?

My upgrade was 1.7x -> 1.80 -> 1.85. The work around did not work for me. I found both files. Noticed my EminentWare file was 60KB whereas that SolarWinds file was 57KB. I renamed SolarWinds to SolarWinds.backup, and renamed EminentWare to Solarwinds. When I fired up the console nothing changed, all my views were still the…

Excellent! So checking the the "remove all previous versions of reader" box last before saving fixes the uninstall previous version issue. How did you solve the adobeARMservice issue, and what was your issue?
-
When will this issue be resolved?

Looks like I spoke too soon! Turns out the email above was the ONLY email to have been let through. Not sure what to make of it. Below is a header of the very last email I received that WAS caught in my quarantine. On that note, this might not be a solarwinds.com issue. This could be jive email server issue. Its hard to…

Thank you for the feature request. I thought about that after I posted and this method works much better! Removing 'Any Product' by simply unchecking the ones you don't use certainly does the trick. Thanks!

very cool, thank you for your time on this. i have been doing the immediate detectnow and scheduling the reportnow for 5 minutes later. this seems to work relatively quick in most cases. i believe the 30m delta might be what is causing the inconsistency. i might start trying an immediate detect now and scheduling a…

I believe you can use the Adobe Customization Wizard <www.adobe.com/.../detail.jsp to slip in more than one MSP update <www.adobe.com/.../product.jsp in order. This is what I use for my Adobe 10 setup.ini file (produced via the customization wizard): RequireMSI=3.0 CmdLine=/rs /sAll msi=AcroRead.msi…
