Hello. It only matters should you want to use Active Directory authentication instead of Orion users to log in to the web interface: Create users in the Orion Platform (Or using the module User Device Tracker as it requires AD as well) Best regards, Steffen
-
Hello. 1) Open the web console and go to the advanced (hidden) settings menu (*name_or_IP_of_your_Orion_server*/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx) 2) Uncheck “Use64Bit” option under NCM.Poller section 3) Click the SAVE button 4) If required reboot the Orion server Good luck! Steffen

Hello. No perfect solution but you could use the "Notes" widgets or custom properties which would look like the picture here. What could be of interest for you could be the Orion module called Server Configuration Manager which keeps track of hardware & software changes, can send you alerts and can even show you who did…
-
Hello. You could create alerts based on audit events (trigger condition) and then to create & send a Syslog (trigger action). Best regards, Steffen Gutzeit

Hello. This upgrade guide might help a bit: Install or upgrade Orion Platform products - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support and VMAN Upgrade Guide - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Here you can see a list of supported vCenter versions: Supported versions of VMware, Hyper-V, and Windows Server for…

Hello. Easiest solution is to always use an admin account as it has read/write permissions by default. I found a KB that describes how to make a normal user acc work for DNS servers. It might work for DHCP in a similar way: Grant non-domain administrator account rights for IPAM DNS Monitoring - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC.…

Hello. Do those 25 devices use Cisco IOS ? What method did you chose for downloading the configs - it looks like yours is being blocked/refused? (You can check that under "edit node" on the node details page) Best regards, Steffen

Hello. Try to delete & re-install the agent via "All Settings -> Manage Agents": Best regards, Steffen

Hello. I'd start by leaving the log source and event inclusion empty, as well as setting the event type to any. Then assign this app template to the server that is hosting Active Directory. Best regards, Steffen
-
Hello. You are correct. An additional polling engine aka APE aka scalability engine needs to be purchased and is independent to the SAM, NTA etc licenses. Same would apply to High Availability. Best regards, Steffen

Hello. Response time is something we can measure for applications via "time to first byte" with the Quality of Experience (deep packet inspection): https://oriondemo.solarwinds.com/Orion/SummaryView.aspx?ViewKey=DPI%20Summary For storage performance this is what can usually be seen:…

Hello. From what I understand is that IPAM can read the ARP table (or more precisely the ARP cache) which should have the MAC address and the corresponding IP address of every device / endpoint that has sent data through this router. Since ARP cache is unreliable and can even be totally empty, the use of Neighbor Scans is…

Hello. Having alerts on flow data is fairly new and currently your options are limited in that regards as without knowledge of sql language you would only be able to use the 4 trigger conditions seen in my screenshot which mainly focus on application traffic. Without such alerts you can manually monitor whether any traffic…
-
Hello. That probably happened because the node (server) was set to Maintenance Mode. This results in the "other" status with blue colour on the application availability widget. I don't know of a way to trick Orion to show 100% availability (by excluding the "other" status). Best regards, Steffen
-
Hello. I don't think it can be achieved as there is no SQL entry that can be used to get the oldest snapshot: And for the delete snapshot action there is only this one option that can be picked:
-
Hello. I like your idea but I don't know how to achieve that though. Indirectly and manually you could create a new app template with just 1 component ( process monitor and in your example splunkd.exe"). Then you assign this app template to all servers. Ten minutes later all servers where this app template will show as up…
-
Hello. 2 options basically. You could have a brand new server for Orion and a new one for the database. Once you migrated over to them, kill the old 2012 machines. Or you could upgrade your Orion modules like NCM first (to at least these versions: Orion Platform 2016.2 compatible products - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help…

Heya, I'd say Orion does not know what Object ID to use in order to get the connected AP / clients. Or the controller does not have this info. Your best bet is to check the device's MIB: Success Center Or check out the poller that you can find on Thwack from one of SolarWinds customers: Good luck, Steffen

Hello BB, There is one module of Orion that might be of interest but it only meets half of your requirements. When you want to monitor files and server configs (registry) then take a look at the Server Configuration Monitor that shows you what was changed, when and by whom. latest release and its new features: SCM 1.1…

Heya, Do you use agents instead of WMI/SNMP as your servers' polling method? When you click on the connection it should show you details on the right hand side and you can go to the concerned connection for even more details. When you click that symbol you'll be redirected to the application dependency page:…

Could you be more specific and provide screenshots of what it is that you cannot do?

Hello. That's where the Log Analyzer module would come in handy. As soon as a certain Windows event is being triggered, you'll be able to see it easily via tags and to also have an alert being created that could have the trigger action of sending you an email. Log Analyzer demo:…

I think you are better off with the alerting from VMware. Your ESXi host / vCenter would notify you when a path goes down (or of an All Path Down and an Permanent Device Loss): VMware Knowledge Base

Hello. There are 2 templates out on Thwack that might work for you. You can find them inside Orion or here: 1) Checkpoint_FW_Template-1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.123.1.48.ConfigMgmt-Commands 2) Check Point GAIA 77.30-1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.6.123.1.48.ConfigMgmt-Commands Best regards, Steffen

Hi Justin, It looks like you're in good hands with Jonathon who replied to you on Friday and agreed to have a Webex with you today. Best regards, Steffen

I would go with Osborne's approach and use the "All Application" widget. When you edit this widget you can have it look like this: And when you expand the view even further you can see all the components that are being monitored for the concerned application: Cheerio, Steffen

Hi John. You could have a go with this KB here: Incorrect status of services displayed in SAM - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support / A SAM template status shows Initial Poll in Progress - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Best regards, Steffen

Hi Mark, Maybe you can use the SolarWinds High Availability as a backup plan should your Windows OS upgrades have any negative effects: How to Migrate Orion to a New Server With Zero Downtime I would do it in steps. Upgrade 2008 to 2012 -> upgrade Orion -> upgrade 2012 to 2016 -> upgrade Orion again Best regards, Steffen

Hello. You could put the concerned server (node) into maintenance mode to mute alerts when you know you are going to end a service/process. Best regards, Steffen
