I don't think I would need to use it often, but it would be nice to have the option. I would think that performance would come into play at certain points, being that WMI consumes about 5 times more resources than SNMP, and now you would be combining them into a single poll. But it could have some advantages on a case by…

@jpike that is the point I was trying to convey!

Hmm, I got Day 1 wrong, so I am starting out bad. I guess I read the question wrong, though I read through it a couple times. I will try not to give the answer away, but is the way I am reading it and interpreting the video wrong? When viewing datastore details in the SAM console, you are able to: The way I read it, there…

EWWFULTI got me as well, though I am still not sure how. I read it and read it again. I think I got it after the fact, but still can't be sure. If anyone that got it can send a PM and enlighten me, I would appreciate it. Oh well, I am now 8/10 and very disappointed in myself.

This is very interesting, and a bit scary. Discussing this with co-workers, and we are trying to get our heads around the concept of that much data. The graphic helps quite a bit. Absolutely incredible.

Unable to watch the video at work--I can watch videos on Youtube directly, but not embedded like this. I decided to try off memory since I had watched it previously. I got lucky and got it right. Yay!

I used Dameware a couple employers ago, quite a few years back. Unfortunately, my more recent employers don't use it. After my initial use of the product, my thought was that everyone should be using this product. I think a lot of companies don't really know how good of a remote access tool it is. It really is the best I…

Click on the Hint link in the question, and it will take you to Linked In. Then click on Follow. The answer to the question is right there, under the entry for the Monthly Mission.

It did make me second guess myself a little bit. Had to work through it more than once to make sure I got it right.
-
Almost missed this! Could have sworn I had done some of this already, but I guess not. Well, it is done now.
-
Such sad news. Thank you for letting us know. My condolences are with his family and friends.
-
Okay, just figured it out doing some trial and error. This is interesting.
-
That is it Danielle. Thanks for clearing it up,and for the prompt reply (as usual). Have a great weekend!

I saw that, and thought that this is the way it must be set up. I just find it alarming that I need to install a piece of software, one that is currently installing .NET framework components and has been running for some time, to answer a single question. In places where computer configs are locked down a bit more…

I agree billyjbryant ! I figure the people that know it are familiar with it in some way. It is obvious what the second word is, but that first one stumps me.
-
Any thoughts or comments on the question I mentioned? I know most have gotten this right. I just wanted to know if I read it wrong.
-
It just allowed me to complete it again, and it did state "First Week". So, I am not sure if I got credit for week 4 on either attempt.
-
Great idea for a challenge and a very sweet prize! But darn, I missed a bonus question while I was out on vacation, so I am already behind! Keeping my fingers crossed.
-
I will agree that this one was a bit trickier, but I found all the answers I needed. Took some looking though.
-
It is pretty amazing. Actually, the prizes this month are all spectacular. You folks really outdid yourself this time.

I'm a Thwacker and proud of it! Wearing my Solarwinds hoodie now, and drinking out of my Solarwinds mug, hoping they bring me good luck. What a great contest!!
-
Congratulations everyone!
-
gcp please read the comments following yours. Maria is looking into the question right now, and it is even currently closed as a result.

I like the idea of being taken out of the running if you win. Gives more people a chance to be really happy! I am keeping my fingers crossed. 8 of 9 here.
-
Thanks for clarifying. Sorry I misunderstood the request.

I went to BSides Detroit about a month ago, and I highly recommend this to those in the IT community, especially if you have an interest in Security (and if you don't you should!). The format was great, and I learned a ton. I wish Solarwinds would have been at the Detroit conference--this would have made it even better.
-
Just my luck. Had to figure this would happen. Just took a guess on the question and got it right.

Thank you for posting this. I know very little about LEM, and SIEMs in general, but I am just now getting up to speed on the concepts involved, and this offers a succint summary of the need and features. While some can be obvious, not all are.
-
I am still working on question 2, now I am scared to even get to question 3. On question 2, I cannot see the answer anywhere on the linked page or in the videos there. Do I need to actually install and run the free tool to get the answer?

Thanks for looking into this Danielle, it is greatly appreciated.
