yes, hence my question, what does the Config Transfer En gine do with the configuration information before it deletes the file. ...it must do something with the information, otherwise what is the point of downloading it in the first place?

there is a bug in the "Cisco Config Transfer" tool, i believe. the basic problem is that the "Cisco Config Transfer" tool was sending an incorrect IP address for the TFTP server, even though it was set correctly in the "settings" dialog.
