I've been an advocate of Azure for a long time now, and how it has been ahead of AWS for DR for years. Azure took a different approach when building their cloud and focused on geo-redundancy built-in to the cost. For years people would point to me how AWS was cheaper than Azure, and I would point out that Auzre provides 3…

I wish I could quit them.

Thank you for the kind words, and for the bacon. Mostly the bacon.

Yes, this is also why using "lastname, firstname" as a unique key is silly.

Apparently the GOP candidate for Governor in Washington State was hosting their reception on election night in the same hotel I was at, and we were also on the same floor. It took me a while to figure out why there was security on my floor that night. When I woke up the next morning, I found that sign in the hallway. I…

Agreed, no question. When all you have is a hammer...

The folks at G were the ones to discover the flaws last year, and notified everyone to start getting patches ready. So, I'm not surprised that they are going public talking about how great they are at protecting their stuff, because they spent 6 months (or more) getting ready for this event.

That's wonderful to hear, thanks for the comment!

What a jerk.

I haven't tried that bacon growing method yet, adding it to my list of things to try.
-
Thank you!
-
Yes, that's exactly how the process should work!

Ah, I think I see it now. Yes, there was some content geared towards databases in general, and also to monitoring SQL Server in general, and we also spent time covering how DPA makes your life easier. HTH.

Thank you!

Yeah, they did weather the storm, but it's a nice reminder for everyone that maybe keeping your source control closer to home is not a bad idea, too.

Yes, that's the Keto diet, I believe.

Thanks!

Yes, I was thinking about how when Slammer first made its way around the Patriots were the Super Bowl champs and we had a President elected with a minority of the popular vote...seems like some things will never change!

I recall this issue with Twitter profiles a while back, also. I guess I just forgot about it, or i'm just far too trusting.
-
Wonderful summary jbiggley, thanks for the kind words.
-
Looking now, thanks!

Welcome aboard!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. And then I realized that these are being placed in *cold* water locations, so it might not be as enjoyable as I would hope. Still, I'd be interested!

Yeah, I wonder if fines were discussed between Apple and the local 911 services.
-
This is wonderful. Beautiful, really. I think I just shed a tear.
-
Agreed. It is ridiculous right now. I'm still hopeful that the ideal concept behind virtual currencies can be achieved. Or, better yet, remove the need for currency altogether, and let humanity move forward.
-
Yes, I'd love to talk Azure and effective monitoring/alerting for such.
-
Yes, but WHAT AN HOUR THAT WILL BE!

I wish I could like this one million times. Thank you for the wonderful comment. I started using DPA when it was Ignite 8.0, that was in 2010, and I liked it so much I joined the company 3 months later.

Me in a makeup chair? It's like putting lipstick on a pig.
