You can approve it. If you dont want it to go to any computer specifically, create a dummy group with no computers in it and approve the update for just that group.

Did you get a resolution on SQL 2008? I'm about to set up our server and would like to avoid issues. We plan to install on Windows 2008 32-bit and wanted to go with SQL 2008 as well. Thanks, Casey

In the Extension Pack environment, the clients do not report to the Extension Pack. The Extension Pack initiates a WMI connection to a target system and requests, via WMI, whatever Inventory information has been configured. From the Extension Pack, the desired machines are selected, either by name, or by a container in…

There are a couple of things that could contribute to this error. First step is to inspect the EminentWare Servers node and verify that the automation servers are listed and that they do reflect membership in a management group. If the Management Group column is empty, you'll need to run the EminentWare Server Wizard and…

That would account for the repeated installation. The absence of the registry key is an incomplete installation. Is this the only system that this behavior occurred on? Have you successfully installed to another Windows 7 x64 system? Please use Programs & Features to remove the EminentWare WMI Providers from that system,…

Suppressing the reboot is only available when using the Extension Pack Update Management tools. If a client system (WUAgent) downloads and schedules an installation as a result of the AUOptions='4' configuration, that event will continue to execute a reboot if/when needed. To completely eliminate such events, set…

It cleared up some space but the problem is that ‘Clear Cache and View Layouts’ cleared all my saved layouts (cuz that's what it obviously does), i was hoping that it would tell me which layouts to remove. Anyway, it freed up some space but the problem won't go away, it just solved my problem temporarly. Thanks, Ibrahim

radimus: could someone provide some detail here, I'm having the same problem. I can get the Dell catalogs, but not the eminentware ones. Greetings Conrad. Your account had not been previously requested to have access to authenticate the 3rd Party Updates Pack setup, so it did not have access. Customer Support has now…

Hi Jeff, probably wasnt too clear. We use the WSUS API. The console only installation of WSUS on the EminentWare server provides the required API. It is required that the WSUS server and the EminentWare server WSUS API versions be the same when using the 3rd party publishing and packaging capabilities in EminentWare. You…

Hmm...I must be doing something wrong. Return excluding duplicate rows of ... Limit # of rows to All -> TCP/IP Address Sort Ascending (1) -> Computer Name Not Sorted +-> Domain or Workgroup Not Sorted Choose records where all of the following apply -> Display Name contains Software A and +-> Display Name contains Software…

Then, assuming that Chrome 18 also shows in the Computer Explorer | Windows Update Scan list for this system as Downloaded/Approved, and a subsequent installation attempt continues to fail, it may be useful to open a support ticket via the SolarWinds Customer Portal.

Please verify that the credential you have assigned to the WSUS server is a member of the WSUS Administrators or local Administrators group on the WSUS server. Not a member of a group that is a member (as may be the case with Domain Admins being a member of local Administrators), but that it is a direct member of the local…

If this is on Windows Server 2003, then UAC is not an issue, of course. If the WSUS console works perfectly, and no account works from the Extension Pack, most likely this is a misconfigured Credential Ring. We'll wait for your email.

> When trying to publish an uninstall script I get unable to validate the executable If this error is occuring while executing the Publishing Wizard, it usually indicates that there is a mismatch on the Select Package screen in the Package Wizard, typically that the value in the Package field does not match the name of the…

One other thing to note here... If you dont upgrade to 3.0 SP2, then Windows 7 XXX will appear as Windows Vista in the WSUS computer views in EminentWare console. If you know computers are running Windows 7 and they are appearing as Vista, then upgrade the WSUS console component (or WSUS console/server) on the EW server…

We do intend to have support for x64 in a future version.

Thats correct. If you dont allow anonymous, then the share/file/dir permissions will be irrelevant because you will be denied before getting to that point. We put this option in for folks that have appliances/NAS devices that can be easily setup this way. In your case, I would just add this file in the wsus content folder…

Please run the registry editor. Open up HKEY LOCAL MACHINE Navigate to the SOFTWARE\EminentWare\Logging key There should be 3 registry DWORD values there. Please set Options to 3 Please set Level to 3 Please set Enable to 1 Attempt to restart the EminentWare service. In the EminentWare installation directory, navigate to…

How do you: In the Default User Profile, update the Credential Ring assignment to have the value of the newly created Credential Ring

Hmm after thinking about what I said before for a bit, I thought that to implement that there are going to be a lot of GPO's for all the sites. Might not want to that.

David, We began seeing this false positive after Symantec released their latest definitions on January 5th. Have you done a scan recently? We submitted the file to Symantec and they confirmed that it was not a virus of course. Before we knew Symantec was causing an issue we attempted to connect to some computers via…

First, we need to recognize that this can only occur on a Windows Server 2003 x64 installation, since upgrading from x86 to R2 is not a viable pathway. I haven't specifically done an upgrade from Win2003 x64 to Win2008(R2), but a few months ago I did a test upgrade on a WSUS server environment for preparation on a…

Yes, that's an option in the current version. Here are a few KB articles that will help get you going: General requirements: http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/3650/ How to migrate: http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/4009/ Hope this helps. Phil

No, there is not currently a way to gather all .exe information. I'll submit your query (allow wildcards so as to allow gathering information on all files of a particular type during inventory) as a Feature Request to development for review. Whether to create a special inventory task is a matther of opinion really. If…

Hi fmiehe, While you are correct that WSUS already 'knows' to trust Microsoft content, it does not by default know to trust 3rd Party Content. Therefore, in order to deploy 3rd Party Updates, you must add a signing certificate to the WSUS server. That certificate is then distributed to the EminentWare server, any…

How many clients do you have in this environment? At a minimum, 1000 pages would be 2,000,000 records.. and I have never seen a Computer Update Status report return millions of records. =250= systems would typically return a report, in the worst of cases, of about 50,000 rows -- but in normal circumstances less than 15,000…

Hey Jeff, Glad to hear that it worked out and thanks for the update. Now I can probably talk someone into letting me get a linux box ;-) John

Can you access the machine with the System Information tab of Computer Explorer? The reason this is significant is that the System Information tab does not require the EW WMI Provider to be present. If that tab fails to connect, we can focus our efforts on core WMI issues, rather than ExtPack specific issues. One scenario…
