Hi Ken, Can you gather a set of logs for us and send those in to customersupport@eminentware.com? Instructions follow: Steps: * Go to EminentWare System Configuration -> EminentWare Servers * Select your Primary Application Server in the middle pane * Click Automation Server Settings tab in bottom middle pane * Set…

depShane, email that WindowsUpdate.log to my attention and I'll see what I can figure out. The error messages from the Client Diagnostic Tool on x64 systems are expected -- it's a 32-bit only tool. I would be interested in seeing the results from the Client Diagnostic Tool on an x86 system. -Lawrence

Hi, delete the WSUS server from the management group and then reassign it. Once you have done that and scheduled the inventory, the reminder should go away.

My apologies; I misunderstood the situation. There is no way to directly tie one to the other. Currently the application does not allow for conditional execution of successive tasks. You could, in the scenario you describe, select the computers to target for deployment report itself by sorting on the available space column…

Please send an email with your availability to engage in a GoToMeeting session to trialsupport@eminentware.com. We will take a look at your setup and your package and attempt to determine what might be the issue.

I see the new WMI providers arrived and I published them to WSUS but they do not show up under third party updates. Shouldn't I see them there and be able to push them out that way? Am I missing something. Thanks -CR

Jeff, the passwords for credentials are encrypted using the DPAPI. This is tied to the EminentWare Server service account. Has the service account been changed to have an expiring password? The only time this should happen is if the password for the service account is somehow being changed? Specifically, how often is this…

Hans, Reporting information depends on having ran a successful inventory. Windows Server Update Services reports require that a WSUS inventory has been run against your WSUS Server. For other reports a Configuration Management inventory needs to be run against the client computers. If you have done this and information is…

"MOVED" is a concept that needs to be further clarified. We do not currently have a documented procedure for migrating an active EminentWare Extension Pack Server, but if migration is needed, it can be arranged through Professional Services. The above procedure is provided to permit the relocation of the MDF and LDF files…

I was able to create those packages using the .msp files for all three Adobe Acrobat updates and it works like a charm. At least my boss is happy. I did get a small error message about signed applications when publishing the Adobe Acrobat 7.1.0 cumulative but it does seem to install on systems anyway.

When I add the PackageBoot utility to my package I am receiving "<PackageName> failed. Authough content was downloaded the image does not appear to be valid." Considering that the package does download and work when just using the MSI file I'm not sure how to resolve this.

however, this doesn't seem to work... SELECT * FROM Win32_ComputerSystem WHERE (Manufacturer >= 'Dell' AND Manufacturer < 'Dell~' ) AND ((Model = 'OptiPlex GX620' OR Model = 'OptiPlex 745')) suggestions...

Does it matter that the user is created by me and added to the local admistrators group, I am not using the local administator as we are not allowed to use it.

Hi Tony, This is often caused by not having the appropriate policy settings that allow the clients to receive updates from an intranet Update Services location. Any machine that is going to receive 3rd party updates will need to have this set. You can set this with our local policy editor - although you may need to set it…

Thank you. The context is very helpful, particularly in this unusual scenario. The NOT File Exists rule should be returning TRUE in the Installed Ruleset if the LNK file is not present, and if the Installed Ruleset returns TRUE, then the package should be reported as Installed (the Applicability Ruleset becomes…

Hi Andy, Please open a case on this issue at: http://www.solarwinds.com/support/ticket and one of our support engineers can work through this issue with you. Kind regards, Kelly T.

You cannot delete a registered WSUS server or EminentWare server from Managed Computers. Since you have no computers there, then you're not performing Managed Computer Inventories, so I must presume the only place the computer appears is in the WSUS reports. If you have deleted the computer from the WSUS server and…

This is in the queue. We currently dont have a timeframe. This is important for W2K8 R2.

Hi jc138, Ah, we did not realize you were discussing a Configuration Manager environment as you only initially mentioned WSUS. In a ConfigMgr environment, you don't want to modify update content from the "WSUS Console" in that way. If 6u27, 6u29, or 6u30 lists 6u26 as a superseded update, the update will be automatically…

Hi, that sounds like a good feature request. Is it going to be implemented ? /Lukasz

Hi Chris, Are you using some other endpoint security solution, like McAfee, Symantec, or Trend Micro, that would be blocking these ports? if you dont have a firewall on the computers you are trying to manage, then is it possible that you have these ports blocked at the routers? The problem, according to the information you…

It means the values shouldn't be deleted, just cleared. The value should be there just not set. If you are getting a logon failure when you try to start the service, that is probably not the problem.
-
The install status info should be reported back to WSUS only if you have enabled reporting under Config Manager's Site Database -> Site Management -> Site Settings -> Component Configuration -> Software Update Point Component -> Sync Settings The rules for msp are driven by the vendor in the msp file. So the criteria is…

Hi, one thing that you can do is go to the computer that is NOT waking up, start it, install and run WireShark on it. Once installed, capture the traffic to the computer and attempt the WOL task. With Wireshark, you can at least confirm that the magic packet is being sent and recieved by the computer. If it is being…

Gerry, correction, since you are a customer, please send your availability to www.solarwinds.com/customerportal and we can schedule accordingly.

Thank Lawrence. actually I had done that several times but at no avail, I had added myself as an EminentWare Enterprise admin in the default credential ring. by the way I think WSUS should be called the extension to EminentWare and not EminentWare the extension to WSUS. Very well done "Extension". Just if things were a bit…

Thanks, I see now that they have arrived. I am trying to track down the cab files from Adobe's site for Flash. Reader seems to download fine. The link provided for Flash doesn't appear to take me to the correct location. I do have an account on Adobe's site to redistro software.
