  • There is one extra consideration for this scenario that just occurred to me. Because the new server will be installed with a new service account and password, all of the passwords for the stored credentails will need to be updated to use the new encryption keys, as they'll be based on the original account/password.
  • Any update on support for x64 (console) ? regards, John
  • Create two GPOs each pointing to a local WSUS server. Link both to the OU. Create two groups, each composed of servers from a specific location and use security filtering to ensure the groups pick up the correct GPO.
  • Hi Patrick, Please email us at www.solarwinds.com/customerportal so we can schedule a GTM and take a look at this. Sean
  • The server that you want to target is the site server with the SUP role. A SUP role uses WSUS under the covers as you know, so this is the machine you want to register. IOW, you want to target and connect to the server that has WSUS on it, which is typically the Site Server.
  • OK thanks Lawrence, I just ran though in Planning mode to get that to work, and it looks like I can schedule it which is good. The computers selection though isn't dynamic I'm assuming (just by the way the filter looks), so I'd have to manually do this process everytime I wanted to update my computers right?
  • I think I fixed the problem. Seems the locally created id on the eminentware server did not have permission to logon as a service. After adding the local id to our default domain policy in GPO as an id with permission to logon as a service everything seems to be working fine. Jeff
  • I have run into this problem after updating to Server 2003 Service Pack 2. I have followed the above post and still am unable to get the Data Grid Server service started. Is there anything else I should look at? Jeff
  • Please verify that you have the update classification Tools enabled in the Products and Classifications dialog. Also, be sure you have refreshed the Third Party Updates view. If that still does not work, please send an email (and screen image, if possible) to www.solarwinds.com/customerportal and they will arrange a…
  • It should not. As long as the account is a member of the Administrators group, and has Log On Local rights, it should authenticate. However, if policy is being used to manage the membership of the local Administrators group, then you might have been able to add your local account interactively, but policy would have…
  • I am having the same issue was there a resolution to this issue?
  • So what is your recommendation for the setup of the environment. Does the Extension Pack system need a 'full' reinstall on a system that already has a install of SQL 2008 enterprise? Could we install SQL 2008 enterprise to the existing system and configure the inventory reporting data to use SQL2k8 ent instead? If we…
  • I've already done that. The reminder is still there. The problem is that I've registered the server name for the update service with its fqdn "pwsus01.emea.cegedim.grp" (to be compatible with the certificate). When I want to add it in the management group it only propose me its short name "PWSUS01". When I assign it, it…
  • I'm using a 64bits workstation and I would be able to install the console on it. Is there any plan to support 64bits platforms for the EminentWare Console ?
  • Is there a reason that their 10.x versions aren't in the 3rd party pack? Win7 kind of wants us to install the latest and greatest...
  • For Sun patches that i published with Meta data only but want to get rid of it now so there is no way but to wait till it gets superseded? I notice that if you published Meta data only patches SCCM keep scanning patch as not required. Only patches with published in FULL will get scan properly. Is that true? thanks.
  • Run wbemtest.exe, connect to a test machine and manually execute your query as a test. You may find that the information is not populated and may need to search for other classes where the information is stored. Also, wbemtest is an expert-friendly tool and may require a bit of research and practice to get used to.
  • I have noticed this as well for adobe reader 9.4.1. Although I have successfully synched, created an update list, downloaded and deployed to an SCCM Collection, I am also getting the compliancy issues. When I check - machines are showing compliant, and also do not install, but a query shows that the machines are still at…
  • The Windows Update Policy on the targets needs to Allow non-Microsoft signed content This can be enabled using EminentWare's Windows Update Policy Task or using GP. Once enabled, you should be able to install. Please note that there is currently a bug in the wsus server provisioning wizard that improperly checks the WSUS…
  • Let me rerun the WSUS Inventory this evening just to make sure everything is clean. I will re-post once the inventory has completed and I have verfiied the reporting again. Thank you!!
  • Hi Lukasz, We are planning to have this feature implemented in Q2 or Q3 of this year. -tonya [Ed. note: This thread was originally from 2011, and the functionality was implemented in Q1 2011.]
  • Hmmm. Okay. We're going to have to get analytical on this one, then. Can you enable ExtPack logging on both the ExtPack server where you are running the Computer Explorer, as well as the client you are querying. To enable logging on the server, navigate to System Configuration | EminentWare Servers, select the server, and…
  • Please follow the instructions provided in the Package Download Assistant for obtaining the Flash (and Shockwave or Java) updates. Those products require an End-User Redistribution Agreement, imposed by the vendor (Adobe; Oracle), so it is not possible to directly download the update file associated with those updates. The…
  • Hi antwesor, The login failures are caused by a Microsoft bug and they have addressed most of the issues surrounding this. The fix can be found here: http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/KB974893/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=4391. It is a hotfix for .NET and would need to be applied to the EminentWare server(s). You…
  • Hi Patrick, The requirement for you to provide a website login in that wizard just changed in the latest version (1.72.xxx.x) that you've installed. It no longer requires one. Regarding your initial issue ("The catalog could not be read ... Access is Denied") when synchronizing the catalog: The most likely culprit here is…
  • Hi jmarchesini Thanks for the tip, that did it, solved the problem, now all updates and groups are loaded. The WSUS Admins group was EMPTY. Thanks to everyone.
  • From the Programs and Features section of Control Panel on the server: EminenetWare Extension Packs x64 (1.71.210.1)
  • Can you provide the instructions for this to allow others to perform the migration as well?
  • Hi Sabine, Having both Flash Active X and Flash Plugin installed on the same box should not hinder the ability of using the Flash (Upgrade) package. My suggestion would be to resolve the Flash (Upgrade) package issue – the package ID should not be all ‘0’, for instance. To get a better understanding of what is going on, it…
