Hi, there. Please see the following SolarWinds Knowledge Base article for instructions: http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/3626/ Thanks. Phil

Greetings. The number of simultaneously connected machines for an Inventory task is driven by the configuration settings on the Automation Role server(s) that are deployed. In a single-server implementation the built-in Automation Role server is limited to 16 threads per task -- which typically translates to about a dozen…

How are you currently distinguishing laptops and desktops? What OU they are in? Some model or make of computer?

In this scenario, where you have accidentally deleted an update, you can reimport the update from the Microsoft Update catalog. You'll need to use the WSUS native console, and you'll need to know some identifying characteristic of the update (UpdateID, KB Article Number, Title, Targeted platform). From the Updates node,…

You can have a look at the deployment guide. It can be found here... http://www.eminentware.com/cs2008/media/p/186.aspx If you have any specific questions that are not answered by the guide, send an email to customersupport@eminentware.com and we will work directly with you. Thanks!

Please email us at www.solarwinds.com/customerportal with your availability for a GoTo Meeting and we will take a look.

Tony, please send us your availability for a online meeting so we can triage. Send the request to www.solarwinds.com/customerportal
-
Hi Dave, this is totally possible. Please send a email to customersupport@eminentware.com and we can show you how online.

We support WSUS x64. We dont support the EminentWare Console and Server running on Win64. The EminentWare server doesnt need to be co-located on the same server as the WSUS server.
-
Hi progdlp,Yes, that video would apply to this Extension Pack. Is the EminentWare console installed on this machine? If not, and this is a remote workstation, you may need to take the same install you used to install the EminentWare System Center Configuration Manager Extenstion Pack and run it on your workstation, but…

Hi Chris, if you know these computers are actually up and running, then most likely they have a firewall that is blocking remote access. Is this possible? Here is the link to a document that discusses required ports... https://www.eminentware.com/cs2008/media/p/93.aspx If this isnt related to what is going on, then send an…

I am assuming you mean you want to change the password for the ewdgssvc-xxxxx account, correct? I am assuming you stopped the service and then went to User Management and changed the password. Once you changed that, you entered the new password in the SCM. I am assuming you also followed John's instructions and cleared out…

A bit of context would help, e.g. what, specifically, are you trying to accomplish, and what are all of the rules configured in the rulesets. Testing for a LNK file is somewhat unorthodox, and testing for the ABSENCE of a file to determine if a product IS INSTALLED, is exactly the opposite of what you would want to do. To…

A potential workaround here is to export to .CSV or .XML and then import that into Excel, as those formats do not share the same limitation.
-
From the Update Services node, select the WSUS server and click on Delete in the Actions pane.
-
Hi Tony, you sure can. Stop the EminentWare service. Install if you dont already have SQL Server Management Studio Express (or full). Select the EminentWare instance. Go to the EminentWare DB and say Detach. In the file system, literally move the mdf/log files from the EminentWare\database folder to the new E drive…

The EULA is downloaded during the synchronization event. If the WSUS Server has items pending in the BITS download queue, it is possible that the EULA file is still pending download. If there are no items pending download, it's possible that the EULA download was simply not successful. You can execute a refresh on the…

Hi cnorth, If you are referring to downloads from the WSUS server by the WUAgent on any given client - that you'd like them to use the fully qualified name - this is not something that the EminentWare Extension Packs can control. The WUAgent will be given URLs based on the simple hostname of the WSUS server, so the client…
-
On the EminentWare server, the WSUS Console only install exists. It is version 3.1.xxxx, which is WSUS 3.0 SP1. You can simply download/grab WSUS 3.0 SP2 and run the install on the EminentWare server. This will update the API to the same version. I would shutdown the EW console and EW Service before running the WSUS…

Hi Patrick, Yes, others have used EminentWare to update Adobe Acrobat products. We include pre-built packages for Acrobat 9.x as part of our 3rd Party Updates Pack. A complete list of available packages is here: https://www.eminentware.com/cs2008/media/p/719.aspx Adobe does also have an Acrobat 10.x catalog available; it…

Hi Jeff, First off, we don't have supersedence rules for 3rd Party Updates in 004 - this functionality will be offered in our upcoming 005 release. In the meantime, you could delete or expire the 17 update on the WSUS server. You may also be able to handle this case by changing the rules on the 17 package so that computers…

The Package Download Assistant contains a link and instructions on how to obtain the installation files for Air, Flash, and Shockwave. This procedure will also apply to Java Runtime updates. For evaluations, only Reader, Flash, and Java are available.
-
HI jc138, Once the updates are published to the WSUS server, they can be treated just as any Microsoft update would be. To expire them, you would simply browse down to the updates in question under Update Services -> [WSUS Server Name] -> All Updates (or Third Party Updates if you have that view defined). Next you would…

This is a feature we currently do not have. We are looking at adding this capability in a future release.

Hi, a couple questions and comments. First, I dont know about GFILanguard, so I cannot speak to the discrepency there. As for MBSA, depending on what version you are using, you could see different results. If you are using the newer MBSA, it is based on the Windows Update Agent scan engine. So, assuming that the target was…

We currently dont have any EminentWare product certifications. We will let you know if this changes in the future. In the meantime, we do have product training. Please contact Sales for details.

Greetings! The '404' attempting to connect to the WSUS Server suggests that the URL and/or Port Number configured for the WSUS Server registration in the Extension Pack is incorrect. Most often this occurs when the server has been registered to use port 80, and the WSUS Server is actually installed on port 8530. Please…

Greetings Gene EminentWare Computer Groups are all user-defined. Generally speaking there is no "All Computers" group in the EminentWare Computer Groups collection. If you wish to target a task to the WSUS "All Computers" group, that can be done. The various options on the task targeting dialog are context sensitive…

This warning can be safely ignored. It is basically trapping on a duplicate certificate being found on the target when we go to verify what certificates are there. We will be fixing this in an upcoming release.
