Hi StarwoodEminent, Security Builletins does appear to be the proper field. Did you add it from the "Computer Update Status with Details" datasource? You might also try setting a filter to exclude null values on the Security Bulletins field. -Kelly

As has been the case since Reader v9.4, Adobe Reader updates are applicable only to the current version. The Reader 10.1.3 update applies only to Reader 10.1.x systems. We have not yet observed the behavior that you describe in #2, but that's certainly possible. The Adode Reader 10.1.3 update package from the Adobe Systems…

If the certificate has only "gone missing" from the EminentWare server, and the certificate(s) are still valid on the WSUS server(s), there shouldn't be any need to create a new certificate, or any need to redistribute the certificate(s) to the client systems. It appears the issue is solely with the certificate on the…

Do you have a firewall on that machine? Is the 'Allow Remote Administration' enabled. If you have Windows FIrewall, please run the following on the target... netsh firewall set service remoteadmin enable If that isnt the problem, please check to see if DCOM is enabled on the target Run dcomcnfg, navigate to My Computer…

This was due to the ConfigMgr client being installed, which modified permissions on a particular registry key. The solution was to go into the registry on the EminentWare server and modify permissions on this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Update Services\Server\Setup We gave the local group 'Users' READ access…

You can use the WSUS Extended Inventory option, or a WMI-based Managed Computer Inventory to capture the Installed Programs from the client systems. Both methodologies have a system-provided report that can be filtered on product name to list just the Adobe products, or filtered to list specific Adobe products. To use the…

John Marchesini answered my question as follows: If you navigate to ‘Enterprise > Update Services’ in the left side of the console, you should see a list of your WSUS servers appear in the top center pane. Select the server you want to nuke, and in the bottom right pane in the console, there is a ‘Delete’ action which will…

Hi Richard, this is a known bug with the Microsoft WMI Managed API. We are researching if there is a public or private hotfix from Microsoft that addresses this issue and will let you know what we find.

A lot of customers are seeing this and we're currently working on a KB article for the fix. Here's the short version: Ensure the local Users group has read access to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Update Services\Server\Setup Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Phil

Hi Farhan, A certificate chain processed but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider This error means one (or both) of the following: 1) The WSUS signing certificate has not been distributed to the client(s) you are trying to deploy to. 2) The Windows Update Policy setting for ‘Allow…

Hi austinj, You actually have a full license for the product, and it looks like the license on your VM server was invalid because VMotion put the VM on a different physical server. Looks like we got you a new code, and you're up and running. Sorry for the inconvenience, John

Hi Tony, when you run the update for 1.7 that is up on our website, the first page of the update wizard has the EULA. You can copy the entire contents from that window.

Here is a link to the quick start guide... http://www.eminentware.com/cs2008/media/p/82.aspx Once you have installed the product, you can refer to the help for specific questions by selecting help in MMC and selecting EminentWare. We are working on our Deployment Guide and User Guide.

Hi Craig, the scheduling is driven at the application server. If you have machines in different time zones that need to be managed, then I would create a task specifically for those timezones. You will want to offset those tasks by the app server timezone. Cheers

Hi Ryan, this can happen if the update is not downloaded to the WSUS server. IOW, the content is not downloaded. If you look at that update in the EW Updates View, does it show the update content as downloaded?

If you have changed the password on the service account (or would like to), you can follow these steps to get the EminentWare Server up and running again: 1) Stop the EminentWare Server Service from the Service Control Manager (SCM) or by using the command line 'net stop ewdgs' 2) Open the registry editor and go to…

There is a huge list of packages on the link you provided. Can you be more specific on which packages are required? I installed the two you mention but sill get an error stating that SQL 10.0 is not suported.

There is no issue with installing to the same machine as the WSUS server in production. We install using our own SQL server instance, so there shouldnt be any issues from a DB issue either. Uninstalling should not cause any issues with WSUS.

Greetings Steve. I'm happy to help you with any questions concerning Scope Management. Generally Scope Management is not a factor unless additional Application Servers have been implemented, and those scopes are only needed on a secondary application server (not already defined on the primary). Common instances of this…

The Windows Update agent will install ALL non-exclusive updates and execute one reboot. The behavior is identical regardless of how you implement the deployment. In the end, it's still the Windows Update agent doing the actual work.

Hi Brayen, There are a few ports that need to be open as well as a some other network considerations. We have a document that outlines these here: http://www.eminentware.com/cs2008/media/p/93.aspx John

The primary Extension Pack server will be installed in the Central Site and configured to publish 3rd party updates to your upstream (Internet-connected) WSUS server. The content will then replicate to the downstream WSUS server using WSUS synchronization -- just like it occurs when using SCUP. You do not need to install…

Hi Brad, it does and we have folks that use both together. Here is a quick outline... https://www.eminentware.com/cs2008/media/p/277.aspx

Hi bloomyleo, One of the first steps you’ll need to do (if you haven’t already) is to schedule a recurring WSUS Inventory. If you currently have one scheduled, it would show under Scheduled Tasks. Once a WSUS Inventory has been run once, you can run reports under WSUS Reports -> Windows Server Update Services Update…

First, love the avatar. OK, on the WOL, there are several things to consider. First and foremost is ensuring that you have run a discovery on the subnets that contain the computers that you wish to wake up with WOL. You can verify the EminentWare has the required information (MAC address, etc) by running the MAC addresses…
