Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 HF is now available from MS.

Hi, this is the response from MS... "The fix is in process. I wish I had a better ETA on when it would be available to the public. I spoke WMI Dev who is responsible for getting the changes into the build process and he stated that they have entered the changes, and are waiting for the automated package build to occur. I…

I downloaded both x64 files. The windows6 gives a message: "This update is not applicable to your computer". NDP20SP2-KB974893-x64.exe gives the message: "None of the products that are addressed by this software update are installed on this computer. Click Cancel to exit setup." I am running 2008 R2 SP2.

Which file do we install? Do we install both files that fit the server? for example, x86 or x64?

I heard from my Microsoft folks that they are looking at making this a publicly available hotfix. IOW, a direct download link. When/if that happens, I will update this thread with the information.
-
Microsoft doesnt provide a direct download link for this HF, so you will need to call them. BTW, yes, I think this sucks too! * To contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support, telephone (800) MICROSOFT (642-7676). * In Canada, call (877)568-2495. * Microsoft Customer Service hours of operation: * Monday through Friday,…

Sandi, Did you update all your EminentWare servers with this HF? If so, and you are still seeing lots of events in the remote security logs, please let us know. Also, what is installed on those machine .NET 2.0 SP1 or SP2? There are 2 different hotfixes for this depending on the version. If you are only seeing 2 events now…

Hi Chad, thanks for the update. The WMI Development Team fixed the issue in the .NET code, so kudos to them for working through the issue. However once we had that addressed it unearthed yet another issue, this deep down in the RPC DCOM runtime. Microsoft has a design bug in DCOM. DCOM lives in SVCHOST.exe along with…

I had to patch my automation server and I am not getting as many alerts as before on my clients. I am 99% happier. The only two left are these: Event Type: Failure Audit Event Source: Security Event Category: Account Logon Event ID: 680 Date: 4/15/2010 Time: 1:31:53 PM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: BUBBA01…

Is this for the EminentWare server are all the other servers?
-
OK, here is the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974893 You need to contact MS Support and they will send you a download link. We are working with them to get that link on the page. NOTE: This only needs to be installed on the EminentWare Server(s), not the actual computers being managed!

I had a meeting yesterday with the Microsoft Development in Redmond about this. To be blunt, Microsoft has completely dropped the ball on this issue. They understand this and they are working to address it. So you know, we received a hotfix from them 3 months ago and in our internal testing and testing with a few TAP…

Is there anything we can do to help Microsoft speed this up?

Hi Darryn, as you may or may not know, MS released a hotfix for this issue some time ago, however the hotfix was only applicable for .NET 2.0 SP1. Other issues were discovered with this hotfix, primarily that there were still scenarios where the audit event would be generated. We told Microsoft we needed this hotfix for…

What's the latest on the hotfix?

please add me to the notification list. thanks DavidG.

MS says any day now.
-
Any update on this hotfix and its availability?
-
Thank you for staying on top of this.
-
will do
-
OK, we just confirmed a new private DLL hotfix from MS for .NET 3.5 SP1 (so works on .NET 2.0 SP2 installs). We are waiting for a date when these will be public and downloadable from Microsoft. Thanks for your patience

Please let me know when you hear back on this.

Solution was to approve Apple Application Support 1.3.2 that came with QuickTime Player 7.6.8. It takes two cycles of detection to install QuickTime Player 7.6.8. First cycle installs the Apple Application Support 1.3.2 and the second cycle installed QuickTime Player 7.6.8. Awesome.

We will post any new information or links as soon as we have them from Microsoft.

To be honest im not 100% sure! Originally I was deploying packages to several test machines thta had Acrobat 10.1.x on them. The patch manager displayed the 10.1.3 update for these machines as not applicable. I did a manual sync (as we did not have it set to auto) and then the 10.1.3 updates appeared on the test machines!…
