Wouldn't a simple fix would be to implement a "sampling factor" for an interface? Rather than try to learn dynamically, you could enter 10 if you sample 1 out of 10 packets. This would multiply the sflow data by 10 so that are represented correctly on graphs and alarms. For now, I manually reduce the bandwidth of the…

I would duplicate Webmin ISC DNS functionality in IPAM. That's how we keep sanity with syncing PTR zones with A zones, and adding zones to secondary DNS servers.

60% of our Trapeze was the Nortel "badged", but we worked with Trapeze to reflash the firmware to native Trapeze firmware after the demise of Nortel. -=Dan=-

Looks like I can use the Sonar to find subnet, then export to a .CSV. Can I import a .CSV into IPAM? I think that the IP Address Manager will allow that.

I evaluated a full blown IPAM tool, and they had a subnet template tool that would automatically assign ip ranges to DHCP, different VLANs, etc when the subnet is created. Now, these tools built the DHCP... Didn't just report them... so this was more critical.

Pardon jumping in but have asked for this forever ago... You can get the IP address and interface number from one table, and get the interface name and description using the interface number in another table. We need to have the IP address, interface name, and description of every interface with an IP address. The key…

I'd like a view that would show IP subnets in numerical order (2 is smaller than 11), Since subnets are buried in supernets and groups, this would show all the subnets and which overlap, etc. I use groups to bundle up non-contiguous supernets and I put every subnet in a container supernet. Trying to hunt down a subnet in a…

Dave, Good point on LLDP import. I do an SNMP only discovery already, so I agree with the proper string requirement. That would insure that network nodes are being queried for LLDP and not end node.

Dawn: Take a look at the voting service at uservoice.com. I use one with Yammer at yammer.uservoice.com/.../22714-general-feedback Great for adding suggestions, then voting on the suggestions.

Ok, That's awesome! Might add a where to save some database churn. WHERE Caption != SysName Now, how bout a query that will look for nodes that are up but SNMP can't connect, and reset the community from "public' to our standard community. Is looking for Status = 0 enough?

jeff... #5 - Agree. I think the whole scheduling piece works for small network, but not large ones. I'd like to see the subnet for my scheduled discoveries so I don't have to be as careful about naming. Having discoveries delay start until a previous ends would be good... Like the IPAM does.

I don't think you can create orion events. THat really shocked me, since all you needed is an executable to create the event just like the executable will set and interface as down. Just doesn't seem so complicated.

Can someone tell me what the rediscover button is supposed to do. Just yesterday I did a network upgrade at a site, replacing the Nortel gear with Juniper switches. I went to the old nortel node and did a rediscover and poll, but nothing changed. I finally had to delete this device in Manage Nodes then rediscover to get it…

Bump! Does anyone have a comment about a resource to show errors summary on interfaces at the node details level with trending? Anyone?

If you have seen any of my Config Change Template questions, this function needs some more quality time. It just barely works: 1. There is no way to get real-time feedback from the CLI, such as to test for successful command execution. I'd also like to be able to set an exit errorlevel so that the template would flag…

Thanks Brandon

Installing right now. Thanks

My main complaint is that this feature needs an "expect" function to wait for output before proceeding or terminate with error. I may be able to fake out the prompt with two outputs, but that cludgy.

At Vulcan we have over 51 Trapeze MX security switche "controllers", and Trapeze 153 APs. For "regular" APs, we have over 150 3e Technologies 3c525C APs, 110 Cisco 1300's, and 70 Symbol Spectrum 24. -=Dan=- Dan Smart Vulcan Materials

Looking around, I that you need a table based MIB type for the Chart to get multiple values. That still doesn't sound like what the release notes says the new multi chart can do.

Perfect. Thanks

Hey Brandon, You guys should look at the feature voting service at uservoice.com. I use one with Yammer at yammer.uservoice.com/.../22714-general-feedback Great for adding suggestions, then voting on the suggestions.

I'd like to beta test, but mainly for the advanced Trap and Syslog alerting capability. Not sure what the Connect Now is. I'd also like the switch mapper capability. -=Dan=-

Mav, When you say "do a lot of work with alerts", does that mean we are going to have to buy another product for alerts?

You have to wiggle the mouse right below the column headings in the left panel. There's only a very small area where the window will start scrolling. Watch this video -> ipam-inteface - DanSmart's library

Absolutely. I like the group functionality, but now we need to leverage the effort.

Remember that reboot from an SNMP standpoint means that the SNMP stack rebooted. This can also happen when you make configuration changes to SNMP on some platforms. Clearing SNMP stats may also trigger this.
