Not a problem. We're a 75% Juniper shop using switches and firewalls (and SSL boxes)

A feature I saw someone post using perl was to only add interfaces with more than one MAC address in the bridge table... Giving you the uplink interfaces. Great option. Exactly what we want to track. Another option would be to add any interface with a description. Usually important interfaces.
-
Yes. This is a long standing complaint with Discovery. I want "found" nodes, not "changed" interfaces. Found should be default. And you should be able to "Ignore" by device type, using the static and dynamic filtering features available in the new "groups" feature.

Note: Trap alerts cannot be exported.

What is the difference between these two assignments? NCM.VLANs[] @VlansToRemove NCM.VLANs @VlanToAssign

Ok, I see that OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20 gives the table of ipAddresses, but uses the interface index number. What's needed is to lookup the interface name in 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2. Is there anyway in the existing resources to see the interface index number? How did you work out getting interface names? -=Dan=-

Steve: I totally agree. Discovery is broken for big shops. I now don't act on anything but "Found" devices. I've requested that sonar have an option to list only devices that have topology data, as these will be the ones with switches connected to the ports.
-
To enhance Steve's list: 1. Import interfaces a CDP *or LLDP* neighbor. 2. Import interfaces with NPM Topology Data a. If Sonar would build Topology using CDP and LLDP in addition to bridge MIB now queried, this would encompass #1 I agree with Steve. We only want uplinks. Rest can be ignored. I prefer if the filter would…

Humm. That doesn't seem to work (with my table type). When I browse to the temperature table, the table has multiple rows and the quantity depends on the type device and stack size. When I browse the table, it shows the table with row names. The row I want is labeled 7.1.0.0 If I add that to the OID, I don't seem to pull…

This brings up an issue that I believe needs to be resolved. While sending a reply to the "Unknown Devices" topic works somewhat, the problem is we have no idea what is going into the MIBs.cfg file. Is there a reason there is no CHANGES file associated with the mibs file that shows what was added. I submitted multiple…

I've been much less involved with Thwack as I currently believe that Solarwind's focus is solely on selling more seats. Functions are added to discover more nodes and interfaces (sell more elements) but NOTHING to filter unneeded devices. I have 5400 nodes in the ignore list (which is unmanageable in itself). I've asked…
-
Your reply went into my outlook junk folder. :-(. The manage nodes searches the NPM database attribute which is lightening fast. The search in IPAM searches the IPAM IP addresses, which isn't properly indexed, or has some other problem. I'd love to discuss our use of IPAM and issues.

Yep, command scriptlets run fine. What command does NCM use to download the startup script. We run a limited authorization level, but it should be the same as the other 400 routers.
-
ISR 1841 and 2821. The configs are roughly 400 lines. Not a problem. Will try as show interface scriptlet.
-
Sorry for late reply. Doing a network cutover. Both boxes are the same. VM with 3GB memory. Both can scan and access DHCP. Just didn't know if it mattered. I assume from your question, is the machine with the most processor left.

Brandon, One other discovery issue I'd like to see is to capture the MAC address of devices during discovery, and then do a lookup of Manuf Code portion of MAC and give the Manufacturerer name. For many PC devices this will simply be Broadcom or Intel, but for network devices without SNMP, this would be much more useful…

That worked great. Thanks
-
Right, That's what I did pre 10, but they have this rediscover button.. What is it supposed to do?
-
Wow. Never thought to use Custom SQL in Advanced Alerts. Thanks for the Trap code. Do you have a similar Where clause for Syslog? -=Dan=-
-
Good attempt, but that gives me top interface across all nodes, not the one I'm looking at. Is there a SQL query that will limit it to just the node I'm viewing details on?
-
Can you give some examples of when you need indirect discovery? What are examples of when icmp is blocked?
-
Didn't work for me. I had to remove this resource. I can't believe Solarwinds hasn't developed a resource like this. After all these years! It the most useful of all summary resources and we used it extensively.
-
That is definitely not obvious

Mav, I've asked for this as a feature request. I'd like to have all data in Orion formatted for GMT and 24 hour clock. Where you monitoring or polling servers resides should have no basis on the data collected. All our network devices are set to GMT. If you want to see the data in your local timezone, you should be able to…

This updates the database directly without using Orion IPAM. Don't do updates without a database backup. -=Dan=-

and #3. been waiting a long time

+1 We have JUNOS DHCP on over 150 SRX firewalls.

Denny, are you monitoring this thread? Solarwinds? Anyone?
