While I understand that this is no easy task I have to say that you guys totally missed the mark with the User Tracker in V6. The common theme with the complaints (us included) is that in order to track devices (IPs, MACs, etc) an entire network discovery via Sonar needs to be run, and maintained. After that's done ALL of…

Yeah, we're working on it.. Had some issues with our test box upgrade which kind of scared us. I guess I won't mess with it until we've upgraded then.. Hopefully soon! Thanks! -SK

I had the same issues and discovered that I needed to create the reports differently, it all had to do with what fields I brought in first, and what I sorted.. Once I got it though then everything works just fine, although it still seems to be a bug since you'd think they'd look the same.. -SK

What's up with the editor here and spamming my messages with HTML tags? Huh...
-
Uhmmm.. Actually, looks like after a while it breaks and I get a blank graph... Is that the static/dynamic thing you mentioned before? I never had this problem with 8.x, so what happened with 9.x and how can it be fixed? Seems that any graph I try to use doesn't work, and all of them that I had setup before with 8 no…

Same problem I reported, although there doesn't seem to be a fix for it.. If you use any of the graphing charts you'll get strange or no results, but if you use a linear gauge or a custom poller status you'll get results. I was told it had something to do with how the MIB was made, but I have a hard time believing that…

Seems that working with traps is kind of the old school way of doing things. The problem with traps is that you have to compile this or that MIB into your MIBDB, wrestle with this or that dependency, then once you have that worked out you then need to build the message on that particular trap which is a pain. If you want…

Couple things.. First you need to make sure that your Orion box is able to communicate through the tunnels via your ACL's etc. Once you've established that you can in fact communicate you may need to tell your PIX to allow management from the outside interface but see it as local, IE: Inside traffic so you'll need to issue…

That's the juice I was looking for! Mucho thanks! -SK

Anyone? Anyone? Looks like I'll be opening a case on this.. -Steve

Ahhhh... Mark W. found a problem with the sharing zone, all cleared up now... Thanks Mark! -Steve

Wow, I can't for the life of me find any of these references in our pages. We're running 9.0 SP2 (Sooon to be 9.1) is it that much different? If I goto an interface on a node and search for any of these strings they're just not there, I have nothing that says <img src= Etc.. I know I'm doing it right as I get just the…

Is this going to be addressed in 8.5? -Steve

Oh.. We're seeing this problem in NPM, not NCM, I found this thread via search and didn't see where I was at.. :) -SK

We were told that the ASA's didn't have full Netflow capabilities so maybe that's the issue you're running in to.. -SK
-
Well, ideally I'd like to have this as a normal graph so at anytime I can look and see the usage. The problem with a report is that you can't really easily show a breakdown hour to hour or 7/30 days. Once you build the report you're kind of stuck, and it's hard getting the same kind of breakdown... Hmmmm.. Guess we'll have…

We're seeing something similar.. On our main page we have the Last 25 Syslog messages displayed, those look fine, but I went into a device which has the last 25 Related messages and they're 6 hours off.. Interesting.. -SK
-
Yup, it's a code issue! I upgraded a 5505 to 8.0.4(23) Interm release and now I'm able to get a response from the poller! Unfortunately we can't install this on our Production 5520's but at least we know that it'll work when we actually do the upgrade.. -SK

Those ideas are great and all, but I think the Cirrus user tracker needs some serious work before it's actually functional. What gets me is that from day 1 of using the Cirrus user tracker (1st and only day I used it) I found it to be completely useless. What is the point of telling me 50 ports that a device *COULD* be on?…

There seems to be a problem with uploading things to the sharing zone, at least for me, no matter what I do nothing shows up.. -Steve
-
I think I know what your problem is.. When you're setting up the poller on the last screen you'll see: Unit then Timeframe Make sure that under timeframe (next to per) is set to None Cause if you have an interval in here what it's doing is dividing your poll results by that number and you just want the straight vault…

I agree, this would be a great addition... -Steve

Bummer, not quite the answer I was looking for.. HELP! SOLARWINDS!!! :) Thanks! -SK

Well, no need for Splunk if you have Orion... Unless you have a device such as an ASA that's constantly spewing messages.. -SK

quote:Originally posted by bleearg13quote:Originally posted by skaczkowski Also, maybe some sort of automatic device import from the Orion DB, I understand that Cirrus and Orion are to be merged at some point, but until then having to worry about putting devices in one DB would be nice. Cirrus already does this. While the…

Yes, PLEASE make the device finder useful! In its current state we've found the rating system practically useless. I really don't care where the device might be, or the devices that are in between, just show me the switch/port of where my device actually is. Same reason why we still use CiscoWorks, its Usertracker works…

Just to drive home the point on how completely useless the Find IP/MAC utility is here's the output I get when trying to locate my IP: ----- IP: 10.105.130.135 w100-14126.wfsi.priv Within ARP Table of Vlan105 on cdc-cr-c65-1.net.wfsi.priv MAC Address : 001F.29AB.2E34 ( w100-21522.wfsi.priv ) Within ARP Table of Vlan105 on…

Perfect! That's what I wanted to hear.. Thanks Haley! -Steve

Exactly.. Haley, what's going on? I remember having a lengthy conversation with yourself and Denny about what features we're looking for in Cirrus and Orion. One of the features was a much *MUCH* improved User Tracker, this was even at the top of our list! Now that we have 3.5 installed we've found that the User Tracker…

DANG! Maybe it is in fact not support, but the bugfix version you're running does... Hmmmmm... I'll have to play around a bit to see if it's a version thing or not.. Thanks for the info! -SK
