It would be nice if there was a feature that would get users to submit tickets instead of sending direct emails about issues. That's always the roughest part about implementing a helpdesk system.

I was just wondering about this as well. Is there any way to make the WLAN Controller go into a warning state if any of the AP's are down?

This is useful. Most of the time, I can pull a cap into Wireshark, which makes things easy, but this is useful for when that's not an option.

UPS alerts for when you have power issues are helpful. Gives you a good warning before they drain out and stuff starts shutting down. Also lets you know if your building has any weird power issues.

I figured it out. We actually had a web filter that had a change made to it recently that blocked Skype. Apparently, it thought that this SNMP traffic was Skype traffic. I have no clue why that is. The weird thing is that I did a packet cap on the ASA, and it was actually getting the packets for the periodic polling from…

I believe you will have to do these steps everytime you upgrade as well. Not a huge hassle, but something to keep in mind. It's really something that should just be a setting.

Thanks for your help with this. I've removed and re-added the devices, and that didn't work. No changes(configs or updates) have been made to the ASAs. This problem started at the same time for both pairs of ASA/Link Balancers. I don't think the Barracuda's are the problem because the traffic appears to be getting blocked…

Just in case anyone wants to be able to do this in the future, I wrote a powershell script that makes use of the WHD API to do this. Just create a schedule to run it every 5 minutes(or whatever you want). At the top of the script there are some parameters that you need to customize specifically for your site.…

And that reminds me. I need to water that cactus.

It turned out that we need SAM to be able to do this. We had installed the SAM trial a while back and then removed it, but somehow this functionality remained through a few upgrades. I guess that the NPM 12 upgrade just 'fixed' the problem.
