Dennis Nedry FTW!

If they had 'classic' Sci-Fi on one side of the bracket, and more modern on the other, we could have had Kirk v Picard in the ultimate captain show down! Now THAT would be something to see Maybe the CMs could run this as a separate poll for giggles anyway, see how it would have gone down?

All good advice When I was a b00n, I used to blab immediately after being asked a question. This put me in hot water a few times, after which I learned the hard way that you have to engage your brain, before your mouth!

I'd add to shartz comment bys saying that you have to have buy-in from key personnel, not just the security team. I've seen people jump through hoops to get through an audit, only for all the good work to be thrown on the "worry about it next year" pile

There's so much awesome in this release, looking forward to deploying it on the next greenfield install that comes across my desk

Absolutely. A little depth of knowledge goes a long way, eh Radioteacher? (I see what you did there)
-
Indeed, rschroeder. If you can't keep tabs on your cloudy assets, then you risk it raining pain in the future.

Well said kong.yang! Reporting is one of my favourite things to do, as it opens the eyes of the recipients to exactly what it is they want to know. Keeping it simple is key, and knowing how to aim the information at the right level what it's all about. If it's an executive summary report, just give them the numbers…

Up-voted. This has been a problem for many for some time. Whilst swapping a node to WMI polling may cure many of the problems, in may cases this isn't possible (polling via a NATted IP address, for example). Generally speaking, if the node vendor is Windows, Solarwinds needs to be clever enough to know that the first…

2001, because I'm not American enough to understand all the funnies in Office Space.

Not sure if it's Monday Brain(TM), but after reading the tip for Q6, I'm still none the wiser. Is the question correct? Perhaps it should be asking which is NOT supported IOS platform? Haylp!

Cheers maria.bungau! 300 points in the bank

You're only human after all! DanielleH

I just replied to your PM mate. Thanks

I've not had chance to catch Outlander. Any good?

In my experience, sales people selling things 'off the reservation' is the cause of most bad experience in on-boarding. Transition Managers have no leg to stand on of the client ink drying on paper which commits the MSP to: * 24x7x365 monitoring, alerting & technical support - Org does not have a 24x7 NOC, so this simply…

For me, I'd want my chosen SaaS vendor to tell me everything that they do to ensure the security, and it would need to be there in black and white, not fancy infographics sent over from their marketing team. The problem with this is that most SaaS vendors will not do this, as most of the nitty gritty that I'd need to see…

LMAO

I would, but I don't have the resources to put it on right now Good suggestion though, thanks

Awesome job @"danielleh" , @"KMSigma.SWI" and all the others who worked so hard to migrate THE BEST technical community to a new home :robotvery-happy: Here's to the rejuvination of Thwack!
-
Cheers Maria. Response should be on it's way to you now:)

Great post kong.yang! I generally agree with the findings, but I do worry about the state of the underpinning communications technology, and if it can cope with the increased demand in high speed links which will be required once most of the 'Cloudification' of enterprises has been completed. Whist the compute…

Loads of links for me to go through there on my way to London's World Tour event tomorrow! Looking forward to meeting those of you who also attend, and it will be the first time I've seen my mate Adam (@"[Deleted User]" ) on the SWI side of the table! Don't worry Adam, the barracking from the crowd will be minimal, honest!…

adatole, thanks so much for sharing this. It reinforces to all who read it that a challenge is something that has a meaning all to itself. Challenges are put before us, and chosen by us, because we want to beat them and not necessarily because we need use them as a springboard. Not every challenge is there to lead to…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, THWACK! I think the 'High Impact Networking For SolarWinds Customers' tag line needs to be put in somewhere!
-
Yeah, I have to admit that it's made me a little paranoid when it comes to running new commands. I'm looking in to using some bug checking routines before running scripts in future, although in my defence I did test it in the lab first, but I can't lab up every combo of IOS/model I'm just glad that I didn't wirite mem as…
-
I'd have gone, but the cost of admission was a bit steep so I had to bail this time
-
Cheers for the insight kong.yang! Your experience mirrors my own. Reports have to be tailored to the audience of you'll just be asked to do it again, loosing valuable kudos points with the management in the process.
-
20/20 this month! Will Christmas bring a PS4 Pro to my living room? Fingers crossed! Good luck to the rest of you THWACKers that also got them all right, and if you didn't, remember that these missions are as much about learning as they are about the awesome prizes

Once again adatole, you not only show the proficiency with which you write, but also share with us the benefit of your experiences. Thanks so much for writing this! Whilst I sail my own ship, when it comes to my beliefs, I value the wisdom that all the world's religions share with us. It's the same deal with monitoring.…
