NUMBER 5, IS ALIVE!

Not as yet Dave. There are significant challenges with the client in question, mainly due to a lack of appetite in upgrading on a regular basis due to bad experiences in the past, which has left them somewhat behind the curve, and facing the possibility of interim upgrades between where they are now and Core 2018.4 to get…

For those unable to view today's question, I'd put money on it being down to the web devs at SolarWinds being based in the US, and they're just haven't uploaded/enabled the page which contains the question yet Just wait 'till later on and try again peeps!

Damn... I decided to answer this whist doing something else at the same time. Went for what I thought was the obvious answer, given the video narration, and got it wrong Was in the running for 20/20 too

Hey maria.bungau. I recently answered this weeks questions (11-14, I've been somewhat busy this week ). Whilst they are all showing as correct, after submitting the answer I'm redirected to a page that is not found. When I return to the contest page, the correct answers are showing OK, but thought I should report it

Absolutely agree with the pitfalls of letting an Orion platform go stale. Going from 12.1 to 12.4, for example, is a whole new ball game. New minimum OS versions for application servers, new SQL Server versions for the database side.... there's a lot of potential pain there for people unfamiliar with the current pace of…

Awesome shirt.

Amazon FTW! It works now, maria.bungau, clearing my cache sorted it out. As you rightly pointed out, the issue was with the cached link on the question page. Like mark.healey, it was directing me to irrelevant data

Any ideas on the ETA on the production version of SAM 6.3, aLTeReGo?
-
Well, the answer to your problems is simply to migrate everything over to SolarWInds! If you speak with your regional sales team, you may even get a discount on any modules you need to replicate what you have in PRTG, considering you're actually making a choice to come from a competitor
-
Another tip, for those with deeper pockets: Purchase an Additional Polling Engine license, and deploy it within a DMZ network. That way, should any breach occur, only the DMZ will be impacted. You'd need to get all your firewall rules spot on, of course, but the Success Center has you covered there :)

Great, thanks maria.bungau! Efficient as always

Good idea, I'm all for supporting a FR that adds to tailoring opportunities! Perhaps UX could add in a check that the website makes when you click 'settings'. If the website host server cannot reach solarwinds.com, then that part of the page is not loaded?
-
It's a great step in the right direction, I love it! The look and feel is much improved, and I love the 'Manage Nodes' shortcut under 'Settings', saves me some clicks! Also, GREAT WORK in the website optimisation. It feels so much more responsive, even on my local lab (running on a VMware Workstation virtual machine) it's…

Dear Thwack, Whilst I'm not Welsh, my wife and kids are, so if feels fitting that I wish you Happy Birthday in the native tongue of my adopted nation, so Penblwydd Hapus, Thwack! (disclaimer: I'm not a Welsh speaker ) 15 years, eh? What a run it's been so far! I am proud to be a member of the MOST friendly, and…

Hope you get those points soon! I use mine every day. It's a little tatty now, but it's still the best laptop back I've owned.
-
congrats charlesmerritt! Those 3D Star Wars lights are awesome!

Aye, it's a tough one. The NPM admin guide does indicate which one is recommended, but I'm nervous about pulling the trigger on that option, as I've answered all the others right so far this month! Nail biting stuff
-
Great idea. Maybe this could be added as a new default tab called 'Node History'. Could be expensive to process, but handy nevertheless!
-
This is a cracking Monthly Mission for DBAs, I think I may just h ave to spam it out to a few of my ex-colleagues. More sales opportunities ftw!

I had this problem many times when trying to replicate resource filters between NPM and EOC views. As the variable names are different (and don't get me started about the lack of 'remember expanded state' options on key resources in EOC!) it meant that every change took twice as long to research and implement. +1 vote for…

A bit of threadnomancy here, but I also have a new requirement to effectively monitor a bunch of Dell VxRail nodes. I don't have access to them yet to see what is available OOTB, but the current HCO Advanced demo doesn't have any such hardware that I could see. Hopefully, after two years, we have moved a little further…

FIRST! (Sorry). Great idea mate.Flexibility is always welcome I also hope they bring in something similar to the NetFlow Navigator, so you can move between paths without having to go back to the main NetPath link every time. Fingers crossed!

This was a tough one for me! I used to watch the Lassie films with my mum when I was a kid, so there's a lot of fond memories there. But Hedwig gave her life to protect the boy who lived, so she gets my vote!
-
Excellent suggestion. Have a vote, sir!

I added this one to vote on: I could have gone with the classic PICNIC problem, or the PEBCAK conundrum, but I think KCI sounds the most legit of the three For reference: PICNIC = Problem In Chair Not In Computer PEBCAK = Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard.

The old blog is a good source of info, depending on the blog ofc!

Another great topic!

Indeed, bleggett. I don't make a habit of wearing a tinfoil hat, but that article made me think about just how easily we give away our personal data
