Well, what a gracious thing for ashley.heilbronn@lr.org to do! Kudos do you! Congrats rschroeder!

DevOps needs the occasional handbrake, imho. Don't get me wrong, DevOps and Agile are great, they are helping us make huge strides in ever faster deployment, efficiency and automation. BUT, it is also requiring everyone to code to some degree. The cold, hard truth is not everyone has the time (or desire) to re-engineer…

The resource you refer to is pretty much your 'start here', and as long as you've ensured that the product is installed and licensed, or for evaluations is showing as within an evaluation, you should be fine. If you have added your various hypervisors, go to Manage Nodes (or Manage Entites, if you use the new view), find…

The important thing is to ensure that absolutely everyone who has 'Node Management' rights knows to ensure that any downtime they will be introducing is covered by a scheduled node maintenance entry. The majority of false positives I have encountered over the years is down to patching, or other, maintenance that is not…

Love this post, Sasha! And to think you get nervous! It never shows, you are a consummate professional. Thanks for sharing your memories, your pictures, and the sound bites! Hope to see you again soon mate!

Awesome! Thanks wabbott!

Cheers to the CMs for running another great monthly mission! I've learned a few things from the hints! Even if you know the answer, it's always good to refresh your memory, and some of the articles were interesting in and of themselves. Being in the hat for the grand prize is just icing on the cake

I think, with a lot of these questions, you are assumed to have a good working knowledge of the products they are "testing" you on. Whilst some of the questions are simple, others are meant to make you think, and catch out those who perhaps do not know the products as well as the people who pose the questions assume…

Had a Cisco issue this last week. I was running a script in NCM that was adding in a restricted Privilege user, with some specific commands added to the priv level. One of them was "show spanning-tree detail". Fairly innocuous in of itself, right? But not so in the 12.2 version of IOS and this specific model of switch…

You know, that's true. I've taken that advice and applied it Not everything has to have a fancy buzz word! Cheers designerfx

Sounds like integration with Slack would be useful there.. come to think of it, I'm not sure if this is already possible. I shall have to lab it up some time and find out!

Deadpool : One of the best Marvel movies IMHO. Ryan Reynolds just nails it.

Happy New Year, THWACKSTERS! Here's to a safe and happy one to all!

Handy calculator, and handy advice! I'll be bookmarking this, and putting my own spin on it's sage advice next time a potential client asks me the "why" question when it comes down to money

Discovery - A COVID-19 Tale "Discover it all!" they said to me "But, where are the creds?" I wrote, in my entreaty "Just ask Fred" came the surly response "Sadly, he's dead" said his colleagues, morose.

I voted for D. Many end users lack the ability/expertise to code, and if a code option is there, my experience with over vendors is that it gives the developers the option to shrug and say "go code it yourself if it's not in the OOTB features, we've given you the tools!"

Good idea @"99kushal" ! Upvoted!

Done :)

The way I see it, internet access should be seen as another home utility, like electricity or water. If you have it, you have as much of it as you like, without restriction, the only restriction being that you have to pay for the amount you use at the end of every billing period. There are no tiers in water or electricity…

More support, more awesomeness! Bumped

Fake voice / deepfake = goodbye any kind of legitimacy for audio and video/picture evidence used in court for almost anything. The tech is so good, almost everyone can say "this wasn't me, it was fake, prove that it isn't!" What used to be a golden bullet for any case is now always going to be questionable, unless two or…

We always win! Our brains are expanded by the exercises involved in getting Orion and GNS3 to play together If only Hyper-V and other hypervisors could play toghether on the same box without resorting to hypervisor-ception, it'd be even easier!
-
Whilst it's an impressive concept, I can't see anyone, bar the most irresponsible CIO, recommending this at that unit cost. It's bonkers to use enterprise-grade switching equipment to keep the lights on! There may be some places where this will be used, some ultra secure environments where every single wire in a wall has…

How may clients have you visited who run some bespoke piece of software, which will only run in up-to Server 2003, and you have to jump through a NASA-eaque manual to restart? When these things die, the companies that rely on them could well be FUBAR, as "Old Dave" retired/died/emigrated to a desert island, and cannot help…

Belated Happy IT Pro Day to us all here in the THWACK communioty, and the non-cape wearing heroes who keep us all working! Legends, all!

It was a great couple of days, reconnecting with my friends, within the MVP community and Solarian's alike! I really enjoyed the less technical sessions, with Kev's 'You're not a NPC' being a highlight. Here's a few of the pictures I took over the two days: My man @"stuartd" photobombing the registration desk before day…

Nope Still, can't get 'em right all the time! Wrong answers = opportunity to learn

Loving the theme of this mission!

Shame that Tron didn't make it to the end, it's THE on-theme title out of them all! Still, WarGames will get my vote for this round.

Indeed. That's the same issue I had. I'm pretty sure 'detect and alert't is a legitimate description of what FIM does I also received the dreaded red cross
