Neo would win....

Great idea! Adding a 'catch all' section for all things monitoring will allow people to talk more freely about monitoring, and the general topics around the art of metric manipulation

@"wluther"you da man! Awesome write up! Including those hyperlinks so others can follow through for their own environment was perfection I echo my fellow MVP's comments. The addition of Centralised Upgrades to the platform makes upgrades to Orion Plafrom 2018.4 has made upgrades SO much simpler, and much quicker to…

Oof, just had to catch up on some of these questions due to building work, holidays, and work not leaving me alone. Week three was tough, but that's why I love these missions. Even consultant level Orion users can learn from 'em

Well said, akiebach. There's no such thing as "the right tool" (singular). It's all about using what works for your given circumstance. The right tool now, may not be the right tool in a few years time, especially if the vendor of said tool is bought by someone else. When that happens terms of business may change, costs…

All for removing the scripting barrier for common use cases. BUMP!

Well said

Well said adatole! Working in IT is like working within a giant Minesweeper board. Sometimes you'll work on something that reveals a few empty spaces, and you'll progress, other times you'll hit a mine and have to rethink your approach. The important thing is to keep on clicking those spaces! Eventually you'll sweep the…

Oooh... this is hard. Have to go with Johnny 5.

Loving the addition of the 'Chassis' sub-type in AppStack!

I've taken the survey If this is foreshadowing, my firm opinion is that an enterprise tool should have a fixed cost/tier, and per-device is too restrictive. Per user/test/GB/device pricing, ultimately, reduces the scope of monitoring, as people will "race to the bottom", to get the cheapest coverage, sacrificing monitoring…

Great Mission this month guys! Got 'em all, bar question 17, which I will attribute to not paying attention

The proliferation of "spamvertising" was always going to lead to people wanting to block the nonsense. For too long marketeers have had an easy life. One of my close friends creates mobile apps, one of them being rather successful. He offers paid for versions, with no ads, and 'lite' versions, which have less content and…

I'm currently using this as part of my backup regime for my mission-critical documents. It's a robust product, and as long as you're not trying to backup TB of data, is both affordable and easy to use.

Great Scott! It's that simple!?

Very nice post I'll reinforce the point on choosing your path. There are many different flavours of 'Best Practice' for ITSM. Find the one that fits, but don't be afraid to use a hybrid approach or even change if you find your current ITSM practice isn't working for you.

Apologies. My internet access is filtered here, and youtube is a no-no. Just used my phone to view it (no sound though, I'm in the middle of a busy office!). Is the user who is logged in on the video the one who only has node management rights? If so, then that looks like a possible bug to me, as you were able to change…

Thanks network defender! I have my moments, not many, but I do have them! (bonus points if you get the reference)

Awesome mission! Cheers @"KMSigma.SWI"

I'm sure you'll blow 'em away, adatole! I'm looking forward to the release of NPM12 proper. I've played around with it in my lab-on-a-laptop, but there's only so much you can do with VMware Workstation Pro and GNS3. I can't wait to upgrade my first live instance, so I can see it in the real world!

Love that pic ecklerwr1! I have yoinked it for greater future distribution!

adatole - what a fantastic tribute! I have learned something about "Stan the Man", that I did not know before. Excelsior! May he rest, safe in the knowledge that he has a positive legacy, which will live on through the ages. I still have the 1979 Spider-Man annual, which I will read again tonight

We need our cloudy monitoring! The outlook for the next twelve months looks like clear skies for SolarWindsLand, cataclysmic storms in the southern hemisphere, especially in the STFUAlertsVille area..... In all seriousness, it's great that the non-techie suits are starting to sit up and take notice when it comes to…

Rock on!

Good idea. Whilst there may be a way of doing this using Node Custom Properties and some database 'modifications', the addition of new system variables which override the Global Thresholds would be a boon to many. For example, if we could have new, node specific variables for: * CPU & Memory - Custom Warning and Critical…

I see a FR for more custom property use, it gets an upvote!

Nicely done SWI! Well deserved. The improvement in the platform since 12.0 (I don't talk about the 12.1 debacle... it's dead to me), and the pace that new products and features are being added, shows that whoever is holding the ultimate purse strings at SolarWinds, they care about the reputation and the brand. It's not all…
