Add a Custom Table (or custom query, if you're SWQL savvy) resource to your view, and then add in the data you want to see, and the relevant restrictions. Repeat 'till you have the information you need

If you know the commands you need to run, rather than using a change template script, you could create a NCM job that does it for you, and run that job against the Sonicwall device.

Hu snydosaurus Generally speaking, you'll need to be monitoring the process or service for SAM to give you a heads up as to whether any given component is causing the CPU spike. All you'll see is when it was high from the CPU statistic history graphs.

If you take a look at the NPM Admin guide, at the bottom of page 538, it does specify that currently only Cisco controllers are supported. Granted, the link you shared doesn't spell this out, but I would expect anyone making a significant investment into infrastructure management software would do enough research into the…

Have you tried opening Atlas and connecting to your Orion instance with an account that has full admin rights? Shouldn't make a jot of difference, but thought I'd get the obvious suggestion out of the way first Also, has anything changed recently? Perhaps you've installed an Orion or NPM upgrade/hotfix recently? One final…

Check this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=8483 It should give you the installer for Windows Installer 4.5. What operating system are you installing the trial on? Windows Installer 4.5 is pretty old, I'm surprised you've needed to download it. Make sure that whatever OS you are using, it is…

What you could do, is check if the MIB detailed in the following Cisco article is supported by your devices: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en&translate=Translate&objectInput=1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.17 You can do this by running the snmpwalk.exe utility (found in the SolarWinds install directory)…

Personally, I want to keep my polling rate as close to 100% as possible, the same with polling completion (for obvious reasons). Whist jokerfest seems to have no problems with his environment, I try to stick to around 12K elements per polling engine. With 30K+ elements in your proposed estate, you may need to look at…

First thing I'd check is the device configuration, and confirm that it is configured to send out SNMP traps to the IP address of your SolarWInds poller. Also, check that you are receiving SNMP data from them (by clicking on the CPU resource, for example, and confirming that data is being polled correctly). Let us know how…

An item will always go into a warning state before it is marked as down, so what is happening is your alert is firing off when your link goes into a warning state, as it's the first of the statuses you've listed, and while the link does then go down, you've already had the alert message once, so will only ever see the…

Hey dennis.shiburi@alteram.co.za. Check add/remove programs on your primary polling engine. Ensure that SRM has been removed. If you have any additional polling engines, you will need to remove SRM from these also. Once you have done this, if you have now removed all your Orion modules from the server, you will need to…

Have you tried submitting your ticket via the customer portal directly, or via the alternative link?

Hi dennis.shiburi@alteram.co.za When you installed NPM, did all the pre-requisites pass? The error message indicates that there may be a .NET problem, or maybe a C++ programming library is missing. I did a quick search on the SolarWinds Success Centre for your error message, but received no results. My advice, as this…

It isn't currently possible to do this, the syslog view in Orion mirrors what you see in the Syslog Viewer, which is a stand-alone program installed along with Orion. There is no way to change the colours in either Orion or the separate program.

Have you tried running the Configuration Wizard, selecting 'repair' and then checking all the boxes? I also had this problem when I upgraded a really old version of NPM (10.0.1 > 11.5.2). Have you performed a similar update recently? The problem I had was that my server was missing some required Visual C++ binaries. Check…

Hi andeporter, I've not tried this myself, but I'd hazard a guess that as soon as a device is encrypted, LEM is unable to use it's normal processes to identify what is going on with the drive. Essentially BitLocker is doing what it is supposed to do. That said, have you tested if LEM can still see if anyone tried to…

Looks like your email relay is expecting TLS, rather than SSL connection. Switch the security for your local email relay to use TLS and it should work.

Hi Matt, When the emails were not getting through, were you seeing events/alerts coming through your SolarWinds instance? As a starter for 10: I've had something similar happen in the past. If the primary poller runs out of disk space, it'll stop processing alerts, which will in turn stop any advanced alerts firing, hence…

Judging from the recent update datestamp, I would recommend following the KB. It's not worth ignoring the advice for the sake of a few minutes configuration changes IMHO. If you don't, you may end up with a slow SolarWinds environment due to AV checks... or worse application fail or database corruption due delayed database…

It might be possible, with some fancy scripting, but it's not something that is supported. The best I could suggest is to create a custom noc view with the resources you'd like to share, for internal use only, with an associated user, with nothing but view privileges, and have that website displayed in Splunk. The reason I…

Have you tried changing the Agent communication settings,so that the comms are initiated by the server? This uses a different port (TCP 17790 by default). You change that under 'Manage Agents' in Settings: Try that, see if that helps you!

Hey, If you can get to the devices using a browser, and the returned page uses the certificate, you could use SAM to monitor the certificates expiry date. Alternatively, if you'd rather not pay for a SAM license just for this, there are plenty of other monitoring tools out there which offer free licenses for a low number…
-
Are you sure the information is being picked up by SAM? You may need to create a universal device poller to get the exact information you require.

Hey dilbert1234 Check out this section in the NPM Administrators Guide: Troubleshooting environmental issues with Performance Analysis dashboards It explains all about the various transforms, and how they can help you visualise your data.

Great post Leon. A second portion of awesomesauce, with a side of zackm. +1 internets to both of you gents!

When you say can't poll, are you talking about SNMP polling? If so, you can create a report which will show which nodes are not responding to SNMP: 1) Home->Reports->Manage reports(in right corner) 2) Click on "Create new report"-> click on "Get started"->select "Custom table" (in Reports) 3) SELECTION METHOD have to be…

Sounds like your server team has a bad case of 'get off my lawn, network guys!' itbrian! Traditionally, there have always been lines of delimitation between server and network teams, and anything one side tries to introduce is generally seen as a trojan horse or at worst a threat to jobs! I have seen it before in many…

Hey bharris, The obvious suggestion would be to check the memory utilization on your web server (generally this will be your primary polling engine). If it's a physical server, it'll be clear from the monitoring history (you are monitoring your SolarWinds servers, right? ) if you're having issues with memory usage. If…

Hmm. This could be a fiddly one. Currently, the different escalation TRIGGER actions do not have a separate RESET action section. The alert engine uses global resets, regardless. You could do something with Custom Properties (my favourite piece of the Orion puzzle), and have an alert set to trigger whenever a node has a…

Hey mnewton. Best thing to do here is to create a brand new Node Summary view, and set that as the one that is used for your user. That way you'll have the same view for all nodes (besides those which have specific ones, such as wireless access points etc).
