Currently, when you monitor a network device, each 'pair' of FC is recognised as a single interface in NPM. There may be a custom poller you could create to look at the power/light levels on that port, as assign this to your FC interfaces, but this isn't something I have done myself.

Hey. If you're currently monitoring the device via SNMP, and you can see other resources on the device, such as interfaces, routing tables, and so on, it's possible that the SolarWinds SNMP MIB database does not contain the OIDs for CPU usage for these devices. If this is the case, then you may need to look in to creating…

Could you post the configuration of your application template please?

Hey hpstech If you're able to use PowerShell to power the query, you can try using Invoke-WebRequest instead. Since you're looking to interrogate a remote system, the method of grabbing the data shouldn't matter, if you're passing a URL to the command. Give it a try and let us know how you get on!

I've seen many other changes audited in the main events log, such as 'node xxx added', 'user changed suchandsuch threshold'. I've not looked for anything around reports, but it may well be listed in there. Hope that helps! EDIT: I just checked and on NPM 11.01 there is no such event category for reports, so unless this was…

Try adding this in to the WHERE clause: CAST > DATEADD(year,-3,GETDATE()) > DATEADD(year,-3,GETDATE()) is the specific code for looking for something three years ago, you may need to mess about with it a bit, but it should work for you.

Hey swc0671 Would you be comfortable sharing your license level, and SAM components used? This would allow us to judge whether what you're seeing is a bug or not. As cmazko states, some of the application templates consume a large number of components, especially the AppInsight enhanced templates (50 for Exchange and…

Ok, I knew I'd read it somewhere, my subconscious wasn't wrong! Check out this link: Disable components in AppInsight applications - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support If you have SAM 6.2 installed, you CAN disable individual components within an AppInsight monitor! My test rig is still on 6.1.1, and hence i…

Hey cdowning * Go to Settings>SAM Settings>Manage Application Monitors. Click on the 'Assigned Application Monitors.' tab, and find the application assignment you need to modify, then edit it. Check the box next to 'Log Bytes Flushed/sec' and click disable. Submit this change and you're done ! * No idea. Perhaps some of…

Hello tolinrome What metrics are you looking for? Is it the NCM compliance side of things you're after, the traffic analyses (NTA), QoE stats using a NPAS, or just 'is it up' (NPM)?

Hey esther823! Looking at the Orion services in your screenshot, you're missing all the core services of Orion. Did the configuration wizard ask you for a database location? It looks like you need to remove everything, ensure you have the FULL NPM installer, and install it again. You can download the evaluation from the…

From which version, to which? If you're talking about the v12 Beta, it is definitely not recommended to install this on a live environment. If you're talking about any other, supported, version, then generally it's a peace of cake. General guidelines: * BACKUP YOUR DATABASE & ENSURE YOUR PRIMARY POLLING ENGINE / ADDITIONAL…

Take a look at this post: Node Downtime Reports Should get you going in the right direction

What version of NPM are you running sotherls? (if indeed you are )

VNQM will get the phone information from the call manager you have currently being monitored. To remove the phones, you'll have to remove the call manager, as they do not exist as separate entities in the Orion database, IIRC.

Pretty standard, to be honest davidhmeyer. Go with SSL, rather than HTTP, ensure that any account that has access to sensitive information has it's password changed regularly, and where possible use AD Integration for your accounts. This allows you to control who can log in or not, and gives you a central place to manage…

Hey alexslv. You've read my mind mate. With the push into the EMEA region, we can definitely assist SolarWinds in expanding exposure of their flagship products. One thing I'd add to you idea is to widen the participation group to those outside the THWACK / current SolarWinds user community, occasionally. We all know how…

Check the logs on the poller for windows updates / updates to antivirus software. I've seen such updates b0rking polling from time to time. Also check the logs on any firewall/routing devices upstream from the poller to the effected nodes (likely on your syslog, since local logs will likely have been overwritten by now) to…

Additionally, you could install SNMP on the problem hosts, configure it, and add them is using SNMP. Where possible, use the Agent, as aLTeReGo quite rightly said. You get a lot more information through it, especially if you have NPM, due to the QoS packet sensors that come with them.

Very handy, thanks again adatole. Customized reports are key to getting the most out of Orion, and these three (four after tomorrow!) posts are all gold mines of information!

If your video division can provide you with a URL that goes straight to the video feed, that is playable within the browser that you use for displaying the Orion web console, then it should be possible. What you would do is add in a custom HTML resource, with the relevant code to embed video, and that should do the trick…

What aspect of the installation do you require assistance with? Is it the planning of the installation, help with platform sizing and so on? Do you need to know what ports need to be open on your management network to be able to poll your target devices correctly? Let us know what you need help with, jyotisrivastava, and…

If you're looking to see what traffic is going between the two, you need to enable netflow on the interface that directly connects the two, or on the interface on both sides of the infrastructure. My google-fu is strong today: I found this slide pack which will help you setup netflow on your devices:…

Hi deekshitha Is there a reason why you could not achieve the discovery of these interfaces via a Sonar discovery? There are advanced options available to filter which interfaces are added to Orion, if using the automatic on-boarding options. This may well offer you a solution to using the API for this task on Windows…

If this was working fine in 11.0.1 and before, check for updates for ESXi. It's likely that 11.5 was tested using bleeding edge versions of the software.

Chaps, I really think you'd be better off waiting for SolarWinds themselves to fix this. Any solution we cobble together ourselves, will be wiped out when the hotfix for this is released. Any changes we make to our installations may have adverse effects on the deployment of said hotfix. That said, you're all being clever…

I think it's safe to say that SolarWinds customers will not accrue an additional expense in order to return the World Maps to full functionality. The sheer #2 storm that would result would be extremely bad for business! My advice: Don't rush out and buy your own MapQuest subscription. SolarWinds will sort this fairly…
