In addition to what @"ioan_bucsa" mentioned, check that the node was actually seen as down in Orion, and also check how your problem node is calculating it's status. If the node was listed as down in your events, then a node down alert should have triggered. Check your alert trigger conditions, just in case you're using…

Hey @"Solaiy" Sorry for the late response on this. I had a long weekend due to the public holiday in the UK, and missed your mention! When I monitor Windows clusters, I follow this process: * For each cluster node, monitor via SNMP or WMI (or the Orion Windows agent!), and when selecting your resources, ONLY select the…

Wow! Holy New Hotness, Batman! This looks incredible. I can't wait to try these out in my lab. Thanks SolarWinds, this is the awesome news we needed in these dark times

Take a look at the min/max bps for that interface in isolation, either from the interface details page widget, or using PerfStack. The device appears to be displaying SNMP data from 9am and 3pm for other elements, so it could be that for some reason data was simply not polled, and Orion is extrapolating the plot lines for…

There are still some widgets which do not respect user limitations. However, if a user was to click on any of the nodes in the results which they do not have access to, they will not be able to open the node details page and will instead be presented with a error to that effect. I'm not entirely sure, as I've not tested it…

Hi @"stuartd" Could you clarify a little please? Are you looking for a link to the map you have created for the ABC group to show up as an element option within the ABC group summary page? Also, which view have you added the sub-page for the map on? The default node summary view?
-
As with many things in monitoring, the route you go down very much depends on your use case, and also on the sensitivity that the wireless clients have to wonky APs. Your option #3 is the way to go for most environments, in my experience, but it you don't have a lot of redundancy in your mesh, you may way to include…

Great post chad.every! I've been looking in to making some of my alerts more dynamic. Utilising variables, rather than using the old static values. As I've been doing this for a while, I've been looking in to SWQL or SQL queries to do this. I didn't even know that these node values existed! Not only does this save me…
-
Hey @"Solaiy" Have you tried simulating the alert trigger within Orion, to see if the correct values are being picked up? You could be using the wrong variables. Best way to do this would be to add a new 'send an email' trigger action, and play around with the variables, simulating the trigger each time, 'til you get the…

Great work there! I'm sure this will help people troubleshoot NCM connectivity problems, where SNMP nodes fail with 'Auto Detect' templates.
-
That's weird. So, you're seeing the $variable name instead of the data that is contained within the CP for that node/element?
-
Argh! That's a Homer Simspon moment for sure.... thanks muckman! I need to get my eyes checked!
-
I'm running NPM 11.5.2, and just tried to follow these steps in my own environment. I get the following error, indicating that the system is not accepting the variable: The CP does exist, and it has at least one node with a value assigned to it. Has the functionality changed in the newer versions of NPM, or does database…

DanielleH wabbott. I'd be more than happy do this, if you think this would be helpful. Drop me a PM/email anytime

DNERDAHL, this is seriously impressive work. Hats off to you for not only spending the sheer amount of time required to research, learn and develop this document, but also for sharing it freely with the SolarWinds public. Kudos!
-
No problem blue4it. Glad to help
-
I'd also like to test this! I have a license for IPAM in my CP
-
I haven't seen this behaviour myself. Have you tried running the configuration wizard, and selecting all the options under 'repair'? Generally this fixes most issues. If this doesn't fix it for you, then I recommend that you raise a support ticket via your customer portal, and SolarWInds Support will help you resolve this!
-
Glad to know I wasn't the only one! Something along those lines would be more sensible, in my opinion. Maybe we were just used to getting spoiled by the NPM 12, new UI, and NetPath goodness all being "free"
-
There's plenty of other options out there for HA, for sure. Ultimately, considering the mount of work that went in to both NetPath and HA, the fact that NetPath is free, and HA isn't was just a surprise to me As I said, awesome tech, whichever way you look at it.
-
It's not free? Wow, I thought it would be part of the cost of the license, and just another (awesome!) new feature of NPM 12.x (NetPath is just part of NPM, for example). If you have to license it separately, that's going to have a huge impact on uptake, especially when you consider you're limited to the same subnet as the…

I've never seen such awesome linkage in a single post ecklerwr1! Kudos!

I think there's some changes in how limitations are implemented coming down the pipe, which is what is meant by 'real multi-tenancy support', rather than multi-instance josh.haberman That's just my hunch. It's been a long time since these aspects have been touched, so a revamp is overdue imho! That said, the new Orion UI…

The web based reports now in Orion are streets ahead of what was there previously, but there are still improvements to be made. Some resources, when added to reports, do not respect view/account limitations, for example. Ultimately, you can achieve almost anything with the reporting engine we have now, but when you need to…

Cheers cobrien. I'll drop him a PM

Ah, the enigmatic "small" remote poller! Could you could share (or PM me if it's not for public consumption) any details on where we're going with this cobrien ?It may help me size some upcoming installations more efficiently
-
For me, the *small* remote poller is the most exciting of the ongoing initiatives. It's key to getting some of my clients off N-Able and on to a proper monitoring solution (:P)! £11.5K (according to the current price list) for the Additional Polling Engine is an absolute killer for some prospects. There are some clients…
-
From my experience with the NPM 12 beta, you're going to love it. Same network segment restriction at the moment, though, but it's great to have a baked in HA solution that seems to work like a charm! Is the remote site mini poller going to be in with the RC of NPM 12? Anyone heard anything about that?
-
I second that, could we have some more information on this budding feature please?
