I'm waiting for the day you can buy a SolarWinds appliance that you can stick in your rack and configure. Yes, it'd be expensive, and yes it'd be a re-badged server from one of the big three, but it would make life so much easier as it'd be guaranteed to work out of the box (hence: appliance). That'd make some aspects of…

No problem brandufnix. Happy to help

Hey rvsouth Re-reading your original post, it's the extension key that you are attempting to register. As you have a trial license, you probably do not have Customer Portal access as yet, and as your Orion host does not have internet access, you will not be able to register this new key it in the normal fashion, and am…

Hey smiffy85, What you could do is create a custom view for each group, but use view limitations based on group name to lock the information down to each specific group. You could then create new menu bar options for each of the views created, for easy access to these new views. If you used the global resources to show…

If your trial has expired, you cannot resolve the issue, unless you purchase a retail license. When you do purchase a retail license, you will be given instructions on how to access the Customer Portal account linked with the purchase. Once you have access to the customer portal, you should be able to resolve the issue…

Sadly not. Volumes are not automatically added or removed by SolarWinds, you always have to remove them. A particular pain in the proverbials when working with virtual machines.
-
I don't believe it's possible to alter this, as it's hard coded into the Orion products. I would suggest logging a ticket with support to get the definitive answer.
-
Do you get the same result when logging in as a user with admin rights?
-
No problem davej. It's an important question for a lot of us, as today is implementation day for GPDR. Maybe wabbott could help us?
-
As I understand it, there's only one backup folder location, that you set via NCM settings. It could be that you're seeing the default backup locations, which are not removed when you point the backup folder elsewhere.

That's some clever shiznit right there, Leon. Cheers!

Has this been confirmed, now that 12.1 is live? If this is the case, then people will need to monitor their APs as nodes as well as via the new functionality. Providing client info is one thing, but I'd have thought that AP status would be one of the most important things that the API would provide to Orion

Th default option is usually fine. Dependancies are set in Settings>Manage Dependencies under the 'Node & Group Management' section. Check out http://www.solarwinds.com/resources/videos/orion-groups-and-dependencies.html In addition, I tend to add a delay equal to 3 x the default polling interval to each of my alerts…

wluther, check out Re: Can I add RSS Feeds to my Orion summary web page?

As an alternative to what @"Vinx" has suggested, you could use PowerShell to emulate the check carried out by the HTTP Monitor template. Take a look at this cmdlet: Test-Netconnection: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/nettcpip/test-netconnection?view=win10-ps Also, as for a longer read, check this article…

As @"vinay.by" mentioned, so long as the evaluation license has not expired, you should be able to upgrade just fine. If it has expired, you will need to follow these steps: * Backup your Orion and FlowStorage databases (assuming you're on NTA 4.4 as was, or newer) * If possible, ensure you have a recent, good backup of…

Hey @"tsanford". While I'mn ot the biggest fan of "read this KB article I just Googled", this one might actually help you, as it seems to contain specific troubleshooting steps for your exact issue: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/troubleshoot/administration/winrm-not-process-request-ems-emc Ask your Domain and…

Hello there! Are you using the Orion platform, or N-Central? I know that N-Central refers to it's remote monitoring points as probes, whereas in Orion the additional monitoring engines are referred to as Additional Polling Engines. If you could clarify which monitoring technology you need help with first, we can go from…

I would have some questions around the platform as a whole. I won't post spoilers here, no prep, Mr Developer!

No, YOU are amazing, for spending time here and being part of the community! Glad you're enjoying it! Feel free to PM myself, or any other MVP if you have any issues!

Well done all! Well deserved

'ello aLTeReGo! The Hyper-V aspect of things is working fine, and these nodes are being polled via WMI...../facepalm These nodes are ALL being managed by WMI.... no wonder I can't assign custom SNMP pollers to them! Here's a question, then: is it currently on the cards to enable SNMP for nodes otherwise monitored via WMI…

Years ago, SolarWinds had a free product called Alert Central. This was an amazing utility, which was sadly dropped from continuous development some years ago. Mobile Admin does work well, despite it's fairly ancient GUI, but if it's only alerts you're looking for, as my fellow MVP stated, PagerDuty integration is built in…

Could you share the OID's you are looking for, and the result you receive from the UnDPs you have set up please?
-
I would go down the Custom Property route. Create new CP for "Site", assign the appropriate value to all of your nodes, and then populate your groups using dynamic queries which reference these CP values. If you have overlaps, you could use other CPs to include those which need to be grouped into more than one.

Congrats! NPM is often the first module deployed in any Orion instance, so you chose a great certification!
-
Congrats! Its a great one to study for.

to expand on the other Twacksters comments, my preferred method for this would be to via 'Manage Nodes". Select all the nodes which could be effected by the DC maintenance, and hover over "Maintenece Mode" at the top of the table, and select either "Mute Alerts Now" or use the "Schedule.." option and add in suitable times…

Citrix! Being able to poll published app usage, and as much data from Director as possible, would be extremely valuable. We can use API monitoring for a lot of this, but some of it is either not exposed to the API, or not available.
