Cheers for the repose Rob. So, then, if I created a report which just has 'node availability' but no limitations, linked it to a customer view, when they clicked the report it'll run but only shows their nodes? i.e. with their account limitation set to 'company_name' (company_name being a CP applied to all nodes, and the…

Fancy code work there

Sure you can, snzvosluffy! You just need to head on over to the feature requests forum for the product in question. Since this would be used in all Orion modules, it's best placed within the NPM feature request forum. Simply create the idea and it'll be open for voting. Get enough interest (votes) in your request, and the…

No problem mate. Fancy code-fu is beyond my ken (or Ryu for that matter....) hopefully someone else can come to the rescue here

No problem. Hope it helps you.

In addition to what aLTeReGo said, if you have specific requirements you could create a custom template for services in question, then create an advanced alert based on this template. To create the application template, and assign it to the relevant nodes follow these steps: * In manage nodes, find the node in question…

Not a bad idea stevenstadel, but if a business has many IT pros, and their Orion modules are under active maintenance, how do you choose which member of staff gets the free shot at the certification, if it were to be included? With the new charges, it wouldn't be fair to those individuals who pay for the SCP exams out of…

With all the issues around the release of 11.5, and now with reported problems with the 11.5.1 SR, it seems there's bigger fish to fry for the devs than improving EOC and AC, sadly. I'm an advocate for both products to my clients, as they both had a valuable place within large SolarWinds deployments. Fingers crossed…

Cheers tdanner! I was told by support that the cipher suite used is generally some form of AES 256. So, with that, and your confirmation that TLS is the protocol, I should be golden. Thanks again!

:neomatrix1217! Where did you get that Service Centre link from? It's awesome! I'm amazed (and a little embarrassed) that I didn't know it existed

HolyGuacamole is right. To be sure, what I'd do is add all the 'all nodes' resources to a test view to identify the one you want, then add the right one back in to your summary view. Remember that with the 'All Nodes - Tree' and 'All Nodes - Tree (AJAX' you can edit the resource to change the groupings: I suspect you're…

Not as far as I'm aware, csimsii.

I thought about that, but the figures it shows are the same as average memory usage, so it looks like it's not showing a percentage masked as another unit type. It's quite odd!

Glad you got it sorted l.mendoza

Hey pranjal One thing to remember is that you don't setup the alerts from within the node itself, once you've added the application monitor(s) you desire, make a note of them and the node name, and then go to Settings>Manage Alerts and create a new alert from there. Choose 'Application' for what you want to alert on, and…

No problem! APE's are the main way to expand your polling potential with SolarWinds. They're pretty easy to deploy, choosing where best to put them in your network is the challenge Take a look at this for a deployment guide:…

Great stuff. Let us know what the fix is, if you can please!

I have around 590 records in my AlertObjects table. What you are proposing, that the system does not go an fetch the current node information when a new alert is triggered, it simply looks up the AlertObject table for something referring to the same NodeID, and uses the same caption in any new alerts, may well be correct.…

Hey shack For serial numbers, you're going to need to create a custom poller to pick them up.
-
Hey jfernandez@bfgcom.com, What is it you're needing to monitor on the Meraki's? If you can get the OID's for the particular elements, you could setup a universal device poller to these elements. Looking at Thwack's shared SAM application templates, there are none with 'Meraki' in the name, so there's nothing specific for…

Thanks for keeping us posted bolliff

Cheers bolliff!

Gotta love a bit of randomness! Did you create it in exactly the same way, with exactly the same settings this time? If so, this needs to be tracked by SolarWinds internally as a bug IMHO...

trilobite rex, I believe sean.martinez is referring to is a single node custom property, where you would enter the email address for the service owner of the application running on that server (i,e, whoever administers the application). It would be a single custom property creation, but the data would change depending on…

Cheers for clarifying that Rob. Could I request that this is made clear in the QoE documentation (and if it is mentioned, make it "more clear") please? As QoE is a big thing, especially from a customer perspective, making it crystal clear how the retention is handled would save on a lot of potential embarrassing…

We'll do our best to help you, but your best bet is to log in to the SolarWinds Customer Portal and submit a new ticket. You would have been given access to this when you bought the license. Failing that, give them a call . Like you, we're all SolarWinds users, whether as part of our day job or consultants who specialise…

Well, I didn't realise that. I guess I've never noticed the Agent upgrades had happened without my having to do anything. Every day's a school day!

Northing like that kcartwright, but that's good thinking!

SolarWinds will use the DNS server configured on the server's management interface. If open a command prompt and type 'nslookup', whichever server is identified as the default server will be where the DNS lookups will go. There are no configurations steps in NPM itself for DNS.
