Just a quick note that if you rerun the Configuration Wizard (for updates, changes, etc), you will need to re-edit this table.

If you want a "clean" install on a new VM, you can do the following. - Do your "step" upgrades on the old VM (i.e. NPM 11.5.3 to NPM 12.0) - Follow the steps in the Admin Guide for "server migration" and install NPM 12.0.1 and the latest versions of the modules on the new server pointing at your existing database. When you…

I would agree with the Manage Nodes suggestion from Chrystal - Use the dropdown box to Show Interfaces instead of Nodes, select the interfaces to delete, and click Delete.

Leon, I thought it worked something like this? (I wrote a similar response last week but tried a more indepth timeline below - Difference Between Statistics Collection Interval and Rediscovery Interval ) (Assuming trigger is Node Status is equal to Down, and node has actually gone down for entire time) 12:00:00 -…

Agreed with HolyGuacamole. Pre v7.4, you will need to copy any custom templates (default out-of-the-box ones will be installed with the additional polling engine). From v7.4 onward, you do not need to copy the templates as they are in the database and the polling engines will reference the database.

Cheers for the updates byrona. I have asked a similar question before and noted that the blanket "same ports as NPM" in the documentation wasn't necessarily true. The last I heard in April was this section of the Port Requirements document was due to be updated, with the Additional Web Server requirements to be updated…

This is now going back a few years and I had to dig up some old emails for this content but hopefully the below makes a bit of sense. It's a bit of an admin nightmare to monitor these probes via UnDPs. For some reason in the Juniper MIB they don't have a table of the probe name that you can link to the probe statistics -…

Or the sound of foreheads hitting desks...

There are no view limitations on that view. I also tried it within a report and the same objects are missing. There are no account limitations on my account either (which is also full admin). I think if it were view/account limitations, it would also hide the result from the table.

In addition to the above, I also usually have multiple "All Nodes" lists but with a different sort by grouping. E.g. depending on the custom properties in use or the customer requirement you could have the following: State -> Site Network -> Device Type

I've added an alternative query that references the event by the action name in case your action ID's are different. SELECT TOLOCAL(ae.TimeLoggedUtc) AS [Date], ae.AccountID, ae.AuditEventMessage, ae.DisplayName FROM Orion.AuditingEvents ae WHERE ae.AuditingActionType.ActionType = 'Orion.NodeAdded' ORDER BY Date DESC

Same!

One of the things I'd like is for the previous "Test Failed" message to disappear when you click on Test again. That way, it makes it easier to see the subsequent test has failed, if it's still trying, or hopefully succeeded.

I haven't found a solution but I'm here at SolarWinds now for THWACKcamp so this reminds me to chase it up!

I'm a guilty point hunter! Have to agree with the UX sessions. The UX team get a good laugh at me trying to find where they've hidden a new feature... "where do you think it would be?"
-
I've found in each of these cases I've come across it is the actual sensor in the device MIB. SolarWinds is only reporting what the MIB contains.

Cheers for this. If I had've checked thwack a couple of hours ago it would've saved me a lot of frustration!

I don't think it is possible to catch up to aLTeReGo! Congrats to the new 200K members!

I've set up a similar workaround but it's a bit more complicated due to some other restrictions. * The customer has six devices that can a specific trap they want to monitor * These traps need to be sent to SolarWinds and then to a ticketing system but they cannot include any identifying information about the device (real…

Hi Andy, Thanks for the response. Yes, the import will work if I remove the node from NPM completely. Removing them is not likely due to the amount of customisation/tweaking that has been performed on each node (selecting specific interfaces, etc), plus we would lose the statistics. I've been putting it off until a…

I recall trying to do this for an Alcatel switch and not getting far because the SolarWinds GUI poller wanted Free Memory and Used Memory OID sources in bytes but I could only find Used Memory as a percentage. The GUI wouldn't let me create a poller with a memory percentage OID unless I am missing something? Ended up using…

Hi andylee, Are there any bandwidth statements on the interfaces? We had cases where NPM was retrieving the speed of the Frame Relay interfaces based on this value instead of the physical interface. NPM will use the value of the ifSpeed OID of the ifTable on the device for the interface speed. SolarWinds Knowledge Base ::…

This is what turns me off Log Analyzer for Orion. - Tagging was part of legacy NPM trap viewer but under the new LA "feature" it has been removed from NPM and you now need to buy Log Analyzer - If you go over the license count for LA, you don't just lose all the additional features that LA provides but you also lose all…

serena Unfortunately not. It got put on the back burner but I will probably need to revisit it in Jan or Feb.

As a follow up to the separate alerts, if you had a separate alert for warning and critical thresholds, how do you handle not retriggering if one is already active? For example, let's say you have the following alerts: - CPU warning at 80% - CPU critical at 90% There are a few options: * Leave both alerts with their basic…

Reviving a fairly old thread but I'm having issues with the above. I created two custom pollers (e.g. customOIDpoller1 assigned to router 1, customOIDpoller2 assigned to router 2). I then created a transform poller that added these two pollers together and assigned it to both routers. The transform doesn't work because it…

Cheers Tom. That cleared up my questions.

Hi, Thanks for the reply! Are you able to elaborate on STM collecting the VMware alerts? Re: integration - we are putting in a separate VMAN soon that will be integrated with Orion. This VMAN install is a standalone for this particular environment.

Hi Jiri, Thank you checking if this was possible. As an alternative, is it possible to edit the script used to backup the config? 1. NCM connects to device 2. Downloads the running-config 3. Copies running-config to startup-config regardless of changes 4. Don't save running-config to database unless changed Step 2 and 3…

You will need to uninstall the modules that have expired.
