Cheers aLTeReGo. The issue we're working through support with is the agent says status Running but no data is being collected (CPU/memory/applications/etc).

There is a way to uninstall the SAM 6.2 Hotfix 1 from the Control Panel under Programs and Features. Control Panel -> Program and Features -> View Installed Updates. There should be a "SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor v6.2" section with the hotfix listed underneath.

Hi serena. Yes, the NPM+SAM bundle can work if you only want basic server monitoring (up/down, CPU/memory, disk) for a majority of your servers. However, that model goes out the window if you want Asset Inventory or want to monitor if a key service (1 component) is running on all your servers. In my mentioned example of…

I believe he means he cannot enter the EOL/EOS and the custom property dates in the same place. He has to enter EOL/EOS, and then either go find the Node and Edit Properties, or go to the Custom Property Editor and find node/edit values.

No worries. It's unfortunate because of the way the specific trap is structured. If it was like below you wouldn't have the problem. CISCO-IPSEC-FLOW-MONITOR-MIB:cikeTunnelStop :cikePeerLocalAddr = 69.60.152.62, cikePeerRemoteAddr = 192.168.85.81, cikeTunActiveTime = 3769475, etc

This is a problem with Log Analyzer itself. It sees that you already have an alert for that filter against the node and won't trigger another alert. Similarly, if you receive a set of messages in a short time frame, you'll only get the alert for the first one. There are a couple of feature requests for it but I think it's…

Looks like the same issue applies for the Additional Web Server. The hotfix for SAM 6.2 causes the SAM 6.2 install on the AWS to fail.

Thanks again for the clarification. This cleared up my confusion. I really wanted to be sure before I accidentally recommended vastly underlicensing some systems.

All good. I thought it may have been missed. You can try editing the chart to only load the last 24 hours of data (Click Edit in the top right corner of the chart and modify the "Amount of historical data to load" field). If that works, you can set it back to Last 7 Days and it should work fine after tomorrow as that data…

We reported a similar issue with the Solarwinds technical team about 2 months ago due to a similar issue. We have several hundred groups and related dependencies and often the webpage would fail to load at all with an "Unexpected error". The technical team replaced some of the files on the server and since then the pages…

A customer had similar issues with their agents (400+ agents being polled in 400 remote sites). Also an issue if the agent service crashed, it reported a lot of nodes as being down. The workaround was to swap all of the agent polled nodes to ICMP polling for status and response time. Even if the agent failed, the device…

I've just run through some quick testing on my system. 1) Using a custom table in a web-based report with a SQL query as a datasource, a non-admin account can view the report and see the table. With Report Management access, the account can see/modify the custom table but only view the SQL datasource (cannot modify). 2)…

You can perform a bulk poll with the following method: * Navigate to Manage Nodes * Group by Polling Method and select either WMI or Agent * Select all of the Nodes * Under the More Actions menu, click on Poll Now

Still seeing weird issues with some nodes being polled via agents. * If node status is being polled via agent and the agent service crashes/stops - the node shows status = down. Workaround by changing status polling to ICMP for agent polled nodes. * Occasional issue: node status shows up, agent says running, no data being…

Also, this suppression option is all confused me. The way it says (Do not Trigger) I was in the impression that all alerts those have been triggered by trigger condition will be filtered out with suppression condition. Thus I will only receive rest of the alerts those are not matched with Suppression condition. Basically,…

I haven't actually run into any of the issues presented here but the environment doesn't have UDT and it's a fresh install. I was able to add/remove interfaces before Orion Hot Fix 3 but applied it anyway. As @squinsey mentioned, the only issue that I ran into was with the Additional Polling Engine and SAM v6.2 Hot Fix 1.…

I think you might have some issues with the views in the database. As suggested by alterego, I would contact support. For viewing the whole application and not just the application monitor on a server, you could use groups. Create a group and populate it with the various servers and application monitors required for the…

I'm fairly certain it works as you have described patriot. If a node fails to respond to an ICMP request, it sets the node status to Warning and goes into the fast polling mode. It will fast poll every 10 seconds for the duration of your configured warning interval (default 2 minutes). If any of those polls succeed, the…

Switching methods will usually remove the volumes, interfaces, CPU/memory, etc. (although if you re-enable CPU/Memory monitoring after the switch the data should still be there). I don't recall it removing the assigned application monitor though as you can assign custom credentials to applications (e.g. WMI credentials to…

If you have the SAM 6.2 Hotfix 1 installed on the server, this will need to be uninstalled (Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Views Installed Updates) - the SAM Additional Poller won't install as its version is older than the hot fix. Once the additional poller is installed, you can install the hot fix on both…

Tried changing the filter to %Sev 2% - still doesn't show the missing alert. I also tried changing to different intervals - no go there either. With a filter for Sev 3, the chart has no data. Shows up in the data source preview.

I was hoping it would be something similar to VMAN licensing where you can set vCenter or ESX hosts to be VMAN or Basic polling, you set certain number of nodes up as LM nodes otherwise basic monitoring kicks in.
-
Correction here: ICMP-only nodes definitely count against your node licensing in NPM. If you use ICMP though you won't be able to monitor any interfaces on that node so it won't draw down on your NPM interface count. The node and volume licensing is cumulative from your installed Orion modules (e.g. NPM SL500 and SAM AL150…

Unfortunately not. I've had mixed results by running a network discovery over the devices. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

Hi delacres. I installed the hot fix this afternoon. The hot fix itself installed fairly quickly (a minute) however it runs the Configuration Wizard afterwards to finish the installation process. Depending on how many modules you have installed and whether you let it run through the Optimise Website step, etc. this could…

I understand the idea of moving to node-based licensing but I think you are overestimating how many component monitors people are using. I have plenty of customers who only want to monitor 1-5 components per server. They could monitors hundreds of servers with an ALX license that was half the price of a new SAM node…

Currently only an account with administrator rights can access reports with SQL queries (stops people using SQL to access information that they wouldn't generally have access to).

Thanks for uploading that comparison document.

Yes. You can upgrade under the evaluation licenses.

I've had discussions with a member from the asset management team about similar issues. We can obtain a list of all the devices and custom properties from the NPM database. The NCM database has access to chassis/serial information that the NPM database does not (unless manually input into custom properties). I can create a…
