It's funny you said that rschroeder - everyone seems to be on board with data, remote access, etc...but really...is it too hard to program a non-IT home thermostat? Is it really too hard to open the fridge to see what you need to purchase?

yeah, I had a conversation with someone about what if's for project management. He said whatever, you guys are just glorified note takers... Then I asked him to create a project about going to the store to buy milk... it ended up being a 2 hour conversation...

problem is, the operating system is part of the problem...until we can get AI to program independently, humans will always make mistakes in development which opens up security holes.

Standardization is a huge bonus, if you can do it. Not only can you consistently apply security settings, but should an issue arise, you don't have to hunt around at configs and versions, as everthing is the same!

Our servers and storage were 5 years old and warranty and support were expiring.
