I had purchased my first Pi2 about a month after it came out. I had so many ideas of what to do with it, but I never did anything more than just see how fast it was. I like the idea of setting up wireless cams around the house and having my Pi2 be the DVR for them, or setting up something like a field camera to put right…

maria.bungau are we still able to follow the steps to get the cool t-shirt and enter chance to win the 4K tv?

Jfrazier- I have seen the size of the fridge "on the line" (great Vince Vaughn quote from 'The Internship') and it is not that large - it will fit nicely on top/or under the cubicle desk.

Are there any images for the Sport Pack? I was wondering since I have one coming my way, but I wanted to know what everything looked like

Too true - the security teams can only recommend what has to be done, they are not the owners of the project, just the project managers. The decision comes from the top and once that decision has been made, it's up to the security team to put everything into place. In some cases, the company should have a compliance "team"…

For our PCI-DSS/SSAE16 Type II compliance, we use Netwrix Auditor (ADS/File Server/Windows Server modules) for full workstation/server log monitoring/gathering because of the price-point compared to LEM. If we could afford LEM, I would have probably gone that route. We also use Wireshark for pcaps, and Spiceworks for…

I would not necessarily say intent, but more commitment. I intend to lose weight this year, but that does not necessarily mean anything unless I have the commitment to perform the necessary actions to do so. Business all have the same intent which is to make more money this year than last. But If they can sideline good…

Congrats itmike, I will just have to use a Sharpie marker to draw the Solarwinds logo on my "regular" tumbler...sigh...

IMHO, it's not really the Chicken or Egg scenario here because that is a whole circular thing of evolution. Compliance is a product of all three, but the driving factor is indeed (1)people, (2)process, (3)software. It's people (the governing bodies) that determine what compliance is, and the processes to achieve it. At the…

@immanuvelc - I want to chill...with an ice cold carbonated soda drank in my SW water bottle while sportin my SW backpack with my super geek swagger I completely agree that we got good peeps, I'm just trying to make sure no non-geek accidentally got my stuff - they won't appreciate it like I do

Got my sports package in today and strapped on the head/arm sweatbands and wore around the office. Got some funny looks from ops group - but no worries - it's not their fault they don't understand...God just didn't love them enough to make them get IT...

I don't necessarily agree with being compliant without being secure (depending on "what" compliance you are striving for). We have been audited two years now for PCI DSS, FISMA, and SSAE16 Type II. For the PCI DSS attestation, you must have all of the security controls in place and prove they are there with all of the logs…

I've always loved the "Web Guy vs Sales Dude" clip and loved the idea of having the end user reboot three times before calling me. There was actually an instance where my SysAdmin was trying to get a configuration to work on a 2003R2 server. I jokingly asked him how many times did he reboot the server. He laughed and said…

I did not know the question was being reset and also lost out on answering it. I guess no chance at the Blu-rays or XB1X

@abenton - I am doing that each day - finding new topic on the SW products and documentation to read - getting my geek on...

Fortunately for me, I work in a company (and industry) that requires people to make their money by doing actual work, so they don't have time to waste on the internet doing any shopping. They also are not allowed to be doing any personal business on company computers (no checking personal email, no instant messaging, etc).…

I completed as well and then stated as such but says wrong...how are we supposed to answer? I would like a shot at that sweet XBOX One X (as well as the Alfred Hitchcock Blu-ray) . Perhaps it requires an RSA token???

What is in those slugs? Is it birdshot?

Has anyone yet received the backback bundle prize yet? I had filled out the form for this the day I was notified but have not yet received anything.

But you must ensure that those "people" are going to not only follow the rules, but also look for ways to improve the process over time as the business operations evolve. Policies and processes are only as good as the people that enforce them.

Maybe the 80's Saturday cartoon characters, or Disney movie protagonists vs antagonists, or possibly Capcom vs Marvel...wait, I think that one is taken already in video game format.

tonedepear My NetAdmin has the polo - very nice...

Sorry I could not help. Good luck - hope you find a way to make that happen

Definitely 10

Is this for a SW DB product question (it looks like it from the screenshot)? Or is it more just how to get "any" tool to notify you. I use SQL Server and you can set it up to send you an alert email when the backups fail via notifications in the SSMS. I don't have any of the SW DB tools - sorry

We downloaded it, but we still cannot get the TLS1.2 to be the only available connection. TLS1.0 is still the only method we can get this to work. Has anyone had any luck with 9.6.5 getting the communication to work with TLS1.2?

Kind of have mixed feelings on that...I'm not sure that I would necessarily want the ability to tie a link between the two only for the purpose that if anything happens to my employment (or I wish to leave my current employ), I would log in to change my Thwack information to my personal email and I would not necessarily…

We were looking into this as well and were told that there is currently no plan for encryption with TLS1.2. So we are looking at either running reports from the Syslog desktop application or possibly something different.

I visit solarwinds.com for reviewing licenses that are due. We have been using Serv-U for 3 years now, and just recently bought KIWI SYSLOG Server (yesterday). I haven't gone back for much else, but I do want to check in monthly on it as part of my routine for examining licensing, or see what else is on the site. I have…
