How many chances do we get to answer a question?
-
I know you can do this now, but what would be even better is if they allowed you do disable or enable trigger actions FROM the alert that you're configuring rather than going through the motions, creating all your triggers and then having to go back to "action manager" finding your action which is a pain in and of itself…

DanielleH, is this blog post still eligible for the 2000 points? I don't think I ever received my points for posting our environment
-
Completely agree... appstack, netpath, perfstack are prime examples of this. Great bells and whistles to lure in new customers and people like managers who like pretty dots, diagrams and pictures but ultimately provides little in the way of enhancing the core functionality of Solarwinds. One of the worst parts about these…

if you click on the question again after answering you should see the letter. I did the same as you at first
-
This is exactly what we need, we just upgraded to the latest version of NPM and still nothing. When will more granular security be coming for manage nodes? Next version? Never?
-
This is becoming ever more necessary as we try to import rules from another solarwinds environment. It essentially breaks the servicenow action. And since you can't change the servicenow instance that action is pointed to you have to delete and rebuild the entire servicenow action from scratch which is a very tedious…

There are a couple of (perhaps mostly internal-facing) reasons 1, our engineering team has found that the email submit is not reliable (I personally question the validity of this accusation...). 2, email submit is not a true integration - we have a need for the bi directional communication that the new integration offers.…

thank you mustangdan302, normally I go straight to the DB to do some investigations first but I didn't for some reason. Definitely going to check this out. Thank you!

Something happened with my survey and it says I already completed it?

Solarwinds: NPM IPAM NCM UDT NTA Other: Splunk Nagios TeamQuest BMC BPPM BMC ADDM Service Now ArcSight Architecture: Solarwinds for network device monitoring and all endpoint trap receiver Splunk for log collection of every endpoint in our datacenters - starting to expand the capabilities here because uh... duh. Nagios for…

You bring up an excellent point, one that has been a point of contention within our group especially as it relates to the connector. So can you talk a little about events vs. alerts? I understand technically, I think, the difference between an event and an alert in solarwinds but just to be sure; an event is generated any…

Absolutely this, HP Openview has this ability. I'm sick and tired of submitting a support case and waiting 2 weeks for a MIB update.
-
Oh absolutely josh.haberman - This would be more of a core feature request rather than a specific product request! Good call!
-
Totally bumping this one!!

Total BUMP on this one!! There a quite a few things that aren't HA-Aware where the absolutely horrible, do not use upgrade immediately from, "FOE" Product WAS aware of...

Really excited for the Week 2 prize! Always wanted to try those - I've had them on my amazon wish list for quite sometime but have never pulled the trigger, good thing these will be free!

this post might help you, it did me! https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-194839#comment-292267

Can we get a response from solarwinds on this please?
-
jhynds Are you saying that you're NOT considering "improving" traps in the core? If thats the case I agree with pserwe, thats a severe oversight and a cop out in my opinion. Just another excuse to license yet another product. It's a miracle we get IVIM in NPM/SAM... We have solarwinds advanced alerts integrated with…
-
I totally get that. Make no expectations expect no expectations. But some of these “we’re working it’s” are so old and have apparently no updates that it seems they’ve been forgotten. The trap overhaul that’s supposedly being worked on is a prime example. I’d happily join a beta program and sign an NDA to be privy to the…

I previously linked my account, just tried un linking it and linking it back. Then I saw your note about it being a manual process on your end. Am I still eligible? Thanks

Week2 Question 9, Cisco SmartNet was not mentioned in any of the hints, only Cisco SmartAdvisor... What gives? I don't think I should've gotten that one wrong
-
That’s an excellent point!
-
That's odd because I missed the June 13th question I think on the 13th, and I went in again on Tuesday and I was able to answer again but I had a brain fart and said "bit-by-bit" So it would appear I actually got a second chance but still screwed up! doh!
-
Good idea, would love to see this resource in more places and in a report as well. Your links require authentication by the way... not sure what they are.
-
YES Absolutely! And along with this same idea, add more granular permissions to manage nodes like there are for IPAM. This seems like a no brainer to me.
-
The average CPU chart is the only chart that appears to have this functionality and does seem to respect overridden CPU thresholds. Should be for everything else too!
-
Yes I agree it is a bit superfluous. HOWEVER, I do have one unique scenario where as an MSP we are starting to deploy more and more and that is a ServiceNOW connector which uses the Event Management layer of ServiceNOW (as opposed to the Solarwinds OOB integration with ServiceNOW that uses the direct to Incident Layer)…

"C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\UnmanageUtility\UnmanageEditor.exe" I wasn't aware of this utility myself until maybe a month or 2 ago. For the most part its really cumbersome and pretty much sucks, but it saved me on a couple occasions already.
